@XcapeArtist357 It looks closer than it was; it DID touch down about a 1 1/2-2 miles away. I work close to the area, and we had a few people who had their houses ripped apart and deemed uninhabitable until they got 'em fixed. AND a grammar school was closed down for a bit, because it trashed a few classrooms. So yup, was nuts!
@MegaDusty56 You're just so completely precious--and original to boot! As I told someone in the comment above: "Sorry for my natural reactions to a terrifying but exhilarating event happening in front of me and my son's faces. Next time I'll say, "Oh dear, it looks like we're in for a touch of bad weather. My, that's a tornado. I find myself quite frightened but intrigued!""
OH...and leave HoneyNVinegar alone. stop saying all that. Its not right, and noone has the right to say that. STOP BIENG JERKS!!!!!!!!!! i could say something meaner to ya'll but i'd rather not. NOW STOP BEING RUDE, MEAN, AND JERKS!!!!!!!!! why don't some of you say nice thingss instead of being....i'm not even gonna say it. just be more nice!
i was watching it happen on tv. im so glad it diddn't come to northampton. i saw some dammage today when i was in the car with family driving in west springfield. that was terrible. one house is almost collapsed and some houses have roofs torn off and one house had wood blocking the door and windows. i was extremely sad just looking at the damage. they even dug up one house because the dammage was soo bad.i wish luck to everyone who live out in the midwest, and hope they stay unharmed!!!!
@MrJoshyt12 LOL, no. Christ, what IS it with the internet and its trolls, always dropping by just to curse someone they don't even know out? Be proud, son, of your doucheyness.
Thank you hateful people for making fun of someone who was only documenting one of the rarest things in MA....... She says OMG a lot well some people say LIKE a lot or Ummmm, and but everyone one has something they say when scared sh!t-less . This tornado and like any other they are unpredictable it could have turned around and hit her.. this devastated the whole city of Springfield and many others like where I live Westfield but the damage is much less drastic here then in Springfield.......
I live in Springfield and luckily our area just had no damage- I was driving my son to work in Chicopee ( 5 min ride ) when it started with the golf ball sized hailstones and I thought we were in for a helluva thunderstorm. Friends later called to see if my house was ok - one had her pool blown into a neighbor's yard, the neighbors car was crushed by a tree and they lost power, had some leaks from roof damage - her sister's house lost the entire roof! Tornadoes rare in MA -scary !
@ThaWhistle excuse me no its not can you please not talk about were I grew up like that? I know people have opinions but in MA there are nice people and bad people not just '..terrible people.' thanks from someone who loves MA because we are the spirit of AMERICA !
@ThaWhistle I was being perfectly polite..... How would you like it if someone talked smack about where you live ? Okay person i was just saying if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all okay please?
@Sherie1945 i would most likely agree with any criticism they had with my locale, but alas, this is the internet. It's like the wild west if the west was actually wild. The interet is a lawless hellhole where the norms of society mean nothing and fiendish behavior and douchebaggery of all sorts is shielded behind a wall of anonymity and unknown yet variable distances. Look on the bright side, you don't live in New Jersey, that is a shithole truely worthy of contempt.

@TheAkillies13 Aw, another internet visitor! Hello there! Love how you people come around calling people bitches over their freaking out about a gigantic weather event they've never seen before happening right before them. But I suppose you've got nothing else better to do. Oh well!
Live in mass in northern central area, feel lucky we didn't get as bad, thanks for the info so we can help the ones who did. Let's go people, we're New Englanders, we're tough S.O.B.'s who know how to pick ourselves up dust ourselves off and do what needs to be done.
I'm so glad you filmed this. I live in the Colony Circle area off of Shaker Rd. I was looking out my front window with my son and watched the tornado form right in my front yard!! As soon as we saw the funnel cloud we headed QUICKLY to the basement. This video captures that exact moment. My son and I watched this in amazement. We are all ok and damage in neighborhood was primarily trees and powerlines. Less home/car damage, and thankfully no people were injured. WOW. Thx for this video.
my entire family is in Springfield, I lived in Atlanta now, I'm still can't believe this happened. For you to be that close sweetie, great footage. I'm glad you are ok, hope all your family and friends are safe and accounted for. I'm freaking out watching it.
Great Catch. As a Westfield State Alum and born in Raised in Oklahoma I had never seen one in New England. Plenty of them growing up. They can be very mezmerizing until you see the damage in real life. Stay safe today.
@HoneyNVinegar Dude dont listen to Haters i am in Massachusetts right near Boston the video on my channel it was bad 4 people are dead i was outside in the Lightning Storm
If I suddenly turned around and saw a tornado going by, I'd say a lot more than "OH MY GOD"....I'd be really profane, lol. I think you were restrained!!! ;-)
@02703ma You probably mean me and my 'omg's. Sorry for my natural reactions to a terrifying but exhilarating event happening in front of me and my son's faces. Next time I'll say, "Oh dear, it looks like we're in for a touch of bad weather. My, that's a tornado. I find myself quite frightened but intrigued!"
Great video! Growing up in western Mass (in Pittsfield) I would have responded the same way myself (we just don't ever see tornados there!), with maybe a few more bad words thrown in!
If each street is populated by 240 people and the windspeed was 125 Mph what is the possibility of your maths teacher losing a few roof tiles ? Lets assume the roof tiles came from Lowes.
i live in springfield, i was workin wen a tornado formed right in front of our eyes it was crazy i was reacting just like u was i had never seen anything like this before.....n yea it seemed small but the wind n rain was intense
The worse part is that it went right over my kids daycare and I was all the way in Holyoke, unable to run to them fast enough should anything had happened... :(
I agree. I was coming down Prospect Hill from the Westfield High School and I swore I was gonna die. It got dark, the rain poured like bullets from the sky and the wind was so stron, it made a huge tree limb fall a foot away from the car in fron of me. It was the scariest moment!
Major tornados in Massachusetts of all places! This wasn't the only one either, there were several that formed across western MA today. Just another sighn of the apocalypse that everyone will ignore.

@HoneyNVinegar Oh yeah that was the funnest thing!! Whats funny is how you atheist call for God when in need or freaking out!!! Poor you!! You will learn someday!
@TheKatrinapeters78 And you go to the hospital when you're sick, use a cellphone AND go on your computer to act holy-rolly, spamming videos with multiple comments to add exclamation points and a "You will learn someday". So we're even.
Are you going to send this to the local news 3, 22, 40. I live over on Union Street the Northside Westfield and we think another one touched down over here.
it didn't look like it touched down completely by the way the trees and building hid the lower part, but regardless, that's still some crazy shit!
