  • wonderful tenor

  • Kedves Sarolta! Véletlenül jutottam ide, ui. bizonyára én voltam a leghívebb Ilosfalvy-rajongó itt Bp-en.

  • Lovely tenor, I have the Sills Roberto D.and used to borrow the EMI record from a pal, wonderful singing on it. Reading the comments ,I see that there is a cd available. I must buy it. Thanks.

  • What a beautiful, bright voiced tenor.

    Wonderful interpretive skills too.

Thanks to you, Khankonchak, he may

finally be getting the exposure he

    greatly deserves. Although he is

gone in one sense, we can still

enjoy his vocal legacy in wonderful

postings such as this!! Thank you.

  • Yes, lets keep listening to him!

Thank you Khankonchak for posting it!

  • What a smooth clear tenor voice this great singer has! He certainly is a Hungarian national treasure. May he rest in peace and be remembered through recordings, videos, and memories of those who knew him and heard him. Bravo, divo Robert!

  • Thanks for the kind comment.

Yes, let's post some more videos!

We'll keep listening to you, Dad!

  • I am very proud of my Dad, Robert Ilosfalvy! He is certainly the most accomplished hungarian opera singer ever. He was and always will be the Pavarotti of Hungary and is considered one of the country's National Treasures. He passed away peacefully on Jan. 6th 2009 in his sleep. The Budapest Opera will honor him together with our family and opera fans from all over the world on Jan.28th at 1:30 p.m. when his urn will be layed to rest at St. Anna's Church in Budapest.

    Krisztina Ilosfalvy

  • A friend in Hungary just sent me a beautiful "Ingemisco" sung by your father. What a beautiful, clear tenor voice and certainly a national treasure. May he rest in peace; we are blessed to have his voice live on in recordings like this one.

  • From a review:

Listening to the CD reissue of tenor Robert Ilosfalvy (Hungaraton Classic HCD

31762) makes me wonder why this guy didn't have a mega-career!

  • Continued: This was an

exceptional voice coupled with fine interpretative skills. (His "Una furtiva

lagrima" may be just about the best I have ever heard and especially the "Ingemisco" also great). How is

it that the opera houses and record companies weren't fighting for him? A

spinto tenor of this calibre today would have them falling all over themselves

trying to sign him up - there isn't another spinto around now who could touch

    him!

  • To answer your question:

He was one of those wonderfully down-to-earth people who liked to keep it real. He rather spent more time with his family than be gone all the time. He was already gone too much in the eyes of a little 4 year old, the one I was back then. But he always brought me something. I was able to accumulate a huge collection of stuffed animals from his travels to the famous opera houses all over the world.

    God bless him!

  • Thank you for sharing your memories with those of us who admire his wonderful voice.

  • Your father is wonderful on the Sills recording of R Dev. - blessings to you and your family. THANKS for sharing your lovely note!!!!

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I am more at peace now that we lay him to rest in a beautiful church in Budapest by the Danube. He will be remembered forever by people all over the world in an endearing way. He is dearly loved by everyone who met him, everyone who heard him sing and everyone who knows of him. What a legend!

  • I loved him! great tenor! I heard he died on jan.6th. May He rest in peace.

  • That is sad news. :( I liked Ilosfalvy very much and wish that he had attained greater recognition in the United States.

  • A great recording and a welcome surprise. Thank you!

  • Great!!! I heard him on many occasions in Budapest Opera in all his great roles.(He was great as Ramirrez, Des Grieux stc.) Had he been born somewhere else, he would have become at leas as famous as Domingo and co., or even more.

  • You have a point there! His career might have started earlier and he would have gotten more exposure if he was born in another country. On the other hand he was happy with how much fame he had acchieved in Hungary, Germany, Austria, England, Italy, America & all the other famous stages all over the world.

  • Thank you for sharing Robert Ilosfalvy, I have

admired this tenor for years. It is unbelievable that he is not as famous as the three T's, he ia as good as them.More of him

would be very welcome. thank you. J.

  • I agree as well. Do you have any more videos to post? I myself don't have any. More video postings are welcome! Thank you for your effort! Krisztina I.

  • igazi gyöngy :) nekem megvan az egész darab vele, imádom :D

  • Thanx for posting this man! This clip shows off a beautiful voice being used with great skill! Ah, the many gems of tenor singing... lol
