Maybe if you are trying something like video encoding then yes.

If all you are going to due is go on the net, use word you dont need a fast chip, but you can still get away with a low power, low cost chip that does what you want which is basic computeing

@Goldspar1 I'd say the Celeron used to be terrible. I had a Celeron D 331, and of course, it was Netburst. Hot, noisy and powerless, it was a piece of crap.

Nowadays, Intel improved their Celeron chips quite a bit, the dual-core models are worth to pick if they weren't so expensive. They are better than an AMD Sempron, but they are into the price range of the last AMD Athlon64 Single-Core chips existing to date (and even a VERY basic Athlon II X2 model) which are obviously better.
