First of all, this is not a steam clean. A steam clean needs a powerful truckmount to supply a constant flow of "boiling water". 280° water from a truckmount sanitizes, "hot" water from a faucet promotes bacteria and other undesired effects. 100% steam would liquify carpet. That machine has brushes that agitates dirt so deep into carpet backing even a truckmount cannot fully extract it. Also that machine cannot extract the "warm" water it puts down efficiently enough to provide a good clean.
It does an OK job if you have a lightly soiled carpet, but if you have some real cleaning to do it just doesn't cut the mustard - very easy to overwet, leave too much detergent residue, set stains etc if you don't have relevant knowledge and training. I'm in Australia and to do a proper set up I'd spend around $100,000 to $150,000 for something half-decent (truck and equipment included). Why would I spend that money if a small machine worth $2000 would do the same job? Answer is, it doesn't!
I have been cleaning carpet for 30 years; Rug doctors and Walmart bought machines don't have the power or the ability to properly clean carpet. I have had customer call me a week after using one and was so molded they had to replace carpet. Pro machines remove moisture to the point it only takes from 1 to 8 hours to dry to the pad without air movement. Save your money and get better results; hire a locally owned independent professional. Stay away from large national companies.
hey did you rent this? if so did you need a credit card or did you pay in cash, because i'm 16 and i don't have a credit card and i really need to clean my car with this machine's upholstery tool.
In combination with that machines, instead of soap I will use chem dry carpet cleaning solution, thanks to jacksonville city chem dry and also with you diana for demonstrating on how to use that properly, your demo is the best and is also the best
I rented a rug doctor at one point and i was renting a place,it took forever to get the place clean and the caprpet was still wet 2 days later. So now i'm in business for myself and i am certifed through the Government,i run a portable ,but no rug doctor.
do yourself a favor call a IICRC pro in your area. You're going to have $75. tied up in a Rug Doc. A pro would have the carpet in your house cleaned by the time you get back from the grocery store with a rental. And it will look much better. Truck mount hot water extraction. I.E. steam cleaning is the best.
@1RoaringMonk -I ran a steam cleaning biz for 10+ yrs and I promise you it does not melt carpet..what it does is break down dirt so it's easier to extract making it possible to use less chemicals to actually clean the carpet.Detergents are super hard to extract....that's why carpets re-soil quickly after Rug Doctor..extract not powerful enough..That said, if the pro you hire does a 1/2 assed job, you're better off with the Rug Doctor. Crappy results aren't as crappy at 1/2 the price.
@jjafari hot water method is nothing more than spraying a hose on a carpet and sucking it off with a shop vac .Merchanical agitation is required to properly clean a carpet
@1RoaringMonk - I never said you didn't need an agitator. In fact, you need a super agitator (ie. Rx20, Rotovac, etc), or else you're just wasting your money and your carpet.
my advice is to get rid of the carpet and get a tile or wooden floor. If you really like the feeling of a carpet, get rugs! having a carpet is first of all dirty, a waste of energy, money and time vacuuming and steam cleaning.

No one needs to call a so called professional to clean their carpets..lol Just like not everyone needs someone to landscape their yards. You can do it yourself.
