I like this, and I'm a male. You should consider cutting out half-circles on the bottom portion of the lid part so you can take the box apart easier.

Length of the side of the paper : length of the side of the box = 2*sqrt(2) : 1 (or 2.83 : 1)

I think this video is the best video I've seen yet on how to make a box. It may not be all glitz & glam, but she is thorough and concise; also she is charming. Also, after watching this video, I made my first, paper box in no time and it turned out really nice too.

hey this is a wonderful project, but i cannot make a proper lid without some difficulty. i have no problem making the lid big enough to FIT over the box by adding 1 cm all around, but i don't want the lid to be the same width as the box (on the sides). I tried folding a different way. I tried cutting a different way. I just spent 30 minutes on it and I finally made a lid the right size, but it's all creased and taped up. lol. how am i supposed to do this?
