  • octopus looks like Dementors in Harry potter , lol :P :P

  • @cheekusri143 i think dementors in harry potter looks like octopus :)

  • My arm is more intelligent. At least when I'm watching porn.

  • 2:32 thats totally awesome

  • "it's just successful in the wild" followed up with "a lobster pot" hahahhaa

  • 0:18 Baby Cthullu

  • BBC indeed has the best narrators , but at least this narrator is not as retarded as the ones in national geographic.

  • Perhaps I've been spoiled by the BBC, but I hate nature video narration when the guy sounds like he's selling some shitty, late night infomercial product.

  • And in japanese cartoons they do the same thing i would if i had 8 tentacles

  • i wasnt fooled..

  • >Blue ringed octopus babies are being born

NU UH NOT THOSE POISONOUS SEA DEMONS, KILL THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS

  • the baby octopus looks like a squid and that is why they have big heads p.s they are like brainiaks

  • Stophittin yourself stop hitting yourself stop hittin yourself.. I CANT MAN ITS MY FUCKING ARM

  • I like to ate small-baby-octopus or eat tiny-squid on the metal-can of container. First-step; you had easily to easy open it with the can-opener-machine. Second-step; your heat it on the frying-pan. And the last-third-step; is to cook or boil regular-rice & fried-rice. So always mixed it with soy-sauce that way it will to would taste-delicious!

  • Why does the mother die after they are born?

  • @Bobolala333 It takes about a month for the eggs to hatch, during which time the mother stays with them to protect them and she does not hunt. By the time the eggs hatch she's too weak to do much of anything.

  • Forever alone.

  • Talk to the hand? No... talk to my 8 hands!

  • wtf with the labyrinth ? They is only one way xD it's just not enough stupid to stay in the same place...

  • Wait, so the octopus' brain is basically spread throughout it's body?

  • Why does the female octopus die after the hatching? :(

  • @bahbleu cos she spent too much time watching the eggs while they arent read. In that time, she doesnt go out for food, thats why she died.

  • incredible, amazing, intelligent, different kind of life - so different and so amazing and talented!

  • When it swims at the end it looks like when a stealth plane flies. thumbs up if you agree

  • ok so can't the lobster or the crabs to bite the octopus? I mean it has no armor so how does it protect itself from bites? Also what does he mean by saying "his arms move completelly on their own"? also can i get an octopus as a pet??? :)

  • @cyberlord64

    Do some research.

  • @BettyTheBlindGnome this question is part of my research. If you don't know the answer why bother to reply? "Do some reasearch" says nothing, points to nowhere and basicly wastes your time in typing and mine in reading.

  • @cyberlord64

Why would you even think about doing research off youtube comments?

  • @BettyTheBlindGnome This may come to you as a surprise but when someone doesn't know something the fastest way to get an answer is to ask a question. I am not writing a book on octopodes so roaming for hours through the internet for 2 lousy questions is simply a waste of time. Yet again another pointless conversation.

  • @cyberlord64 first of lobsters and crabs pinch not bite. it is an ambush hunter it pounces on its prey and uses its beak to break it open. each arm has its own brain that's what he means by arms move completely on their own. and as for a pet you can own one some special pet store may occasionally have some but for the most part you have to catch your own but they are extremely hard to take care of so you must know what you are doing. like schooling know what your doing.

  • It's actually octopodes, or octopuses, not octopi.

  • @Anathemal

Actually all three are acceptable by English standards, But because of the Grammatical movement at the time of coming up with a plural for Octopus was about making English terms more Latin based the correct term became Octopi, but as i say, all three are acceptable by English standards.

  • I hate octopus baby before, its quite nice actually.

  • 'octopuses use their intelligent arms to capture prey'

    my arm cant even talk.

  • i want a baby octopus :3

  • He just stole my dinner!

  • ugh, UGLY!! blech

  • mmmm lobster stuffed octopus... sounds DELICIOUS!

  • i would use the power of toyota to stop these stupid ads

  • @Sslingers roflmao, you got a lotta jackasses rofl,

  • Octopuses aren't that nice.

Paul and others octopuses killed theire mom.

    Octopus Paul Also!

Because I hate Paul doesn't mean that i'm crazy,

    It means that I'm Dutch

  • blue ringed octopuses are cunts

  • @mastaharro I lol'd.

  • There is a show/movie called Octopussy.... just thought i'd let you guys know

  • baby octopi is so fukin cute

  • Octopussy is the correct term for these creatures!

  • sure its a great video, didnt watch it because of the ad

  • In a way they are pretty close to humans. We have no natural protection just like them. We use our brains to survive just like them.

  • @DerekBurn and we breath under water just like them and we can squeeze true 3 inch wholes just like them, and we have 8 limbs just like them and .... oh wait...

  • I wouldn't be surprised if octopuses adapted and somehow became the most intelligent creatures in the world.

  • Octopussies are the most well adapted sea animals the world has ever known, and I misspelled their name on purpose.

  • Octopuses are sorta what i picture aliens to be :3

  • A common misconception, and I am pointing this out because I see alot of comments, The bulbous part beyond their eyes is not their head, but abdomen. An Octopus doesn't really have a REAL head,

  • @Ninjastyle124 Where are their eyes located?

  • @008fox You want someone to draw you a diagram? You can 'see' them. Their brain is located between their eyes, and their mantle/abdomen contains their organs. If you need something to recognize as the head, the closest relative thing they have to a head would be the transition from where their tentacles connect to the mantle.

  • @008fox They have eyes that you can see on the part which he calls the abdomen.. also eyes I think on all their tentacles

  • Two Octopuses: Octopuses.

    A Group of Octopi: Octopi.

    And there you have it.

  • Damn, that's sick. I love Octopuses; they're interesting creatures.

  • idc i just like there cool things that are like worms ha ha :Pppl say im a reatard but in school i get strait As

  • "octopi" would be the latin plural of "octopus" and - at least what regards german words of latin origin - it is valid to use either the german or the latin plural form.

  • @Mehlwurm18 It's not German nor Latin, so, actually, no. Neither of these is correct. The correct plural is Octopusses or Octopodes.

  • i want a pet octopus..

  • @Sh4dowr not a blue ringed one :-)

  • @gilesderoet hmm no i don't think so lol

  • the mom dies after she lies her eggs?

  • @LifeequalsVideogames yup, she protects the eggs withouth getting out to hunt. withouth energy left after the babies are born she gets eaten by predators.

  • @LifeequalsVideogames yes they stop eating after they lay, so they starve to death.

  • crazy stuff there smarter than alll of us probley

  • fucking throbbing brain...seems like something out of the twilight zone

  • i want to eat all octopus with BarBQ sauce

  • and the female name is... octopussy!

  • @hotforwordstoo and the males name is.... OCTODICK! BECAUSE HE HAS 8 DICKS AND OCTOPUSSY HAS 8 PUSSY! THATS ALLxd

  • @DonBringer HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHA I GET IT!!!!

  • I love octopuses and jellyfish.

  • can you grt them as pets?

  • @never4getthis Yes and they can be entertaining as they can learn to open jars and things to get food.

The only drawback is they can be hard to contain since they're smart and can squeeze through small spaces. They're notorious for getting curious and trying to escape from their tank.

  • I'd like to point out that octopuses, octopi, and octopodes are all acceptable ways to pluralize octopus.

  • That's sad. Once the mom hatches her eggs she dies. If i were an Octopus i would never have kids. They ruin everything lol

  • the little octopuses are cute but the big octopus looks scary

  • FUCK ADS

  • oh mah gawd its so cute :D

  • @ItzJacklynFoSho thats sad

  • @4liferock1 how is it sad? -_-

  • @ItzJacklynFoSho cuz the mom dies

  • @4liferock1 i was talking about the babies.............

  • Did you actually read about an octopus that predicted a win of the German soccer team? That is amazing. It is time for people to stop eating octopuses. I think the Greeks and the Spaniards also some Asians should stop including octopuses into their meals.

  • @waddleduckie1 uhm... trying not to be a grammar policeman here, but it's octopi, not octopuses.

  • @sasukexitachixmadara well I am not certain about the spelling of octopi, I am talking about multiple form of octopuses, not as singular form. There are different form of spellings that I just found online, which I included here, octopuses) i looked online as an investigation, and octopi. And you are wrong about the grammar. You probably meant, the spelling. You are not a grammar police, you are a spelling police. Got it? The grammar is an entirely different thing.

  • @waddleduckie1 Word....it's the same deal with people and peoples. People is the plural term for a group of people...let's say just for kicks like all the people who live in Turkmenistan. But if i wanted to say all asians i could say the Asian Peoples which would be a group of groups of people. Same with fish and fishes.

So although your right in a sense, octopi is right for a group of octupus you could say octopuses for a more general sense.

  • @sasukexitachixmadara You're both wrong, dumbshits. Its octopodes. See what happens when you think you know something? lol

  • @grendelee lol i like how u are essentially making fun of yourself

  • @grendelee Isn't an octopod some kind of supporting object with 8 legs? Just as a tripod has 3!? :P

  • cool!

  • I'm guessing their three hearts are in their heads because they are so bulbous

  • this video prooves.... no matter what species you are .... it sucks being female =)

  • The start made me quite upset. When the baby has to be by itself. :(

  • @KopiteLiam123 and the mother dies immediately after :(

  • very expensive taste.

  • Oooooooh the baby octopus, so cuteeeee !!

  • octopus loves lobsters too

    everybody loves lobsters haha

  • fucking advertisements

  • i respect these animals...

  • how did we get a flame war from watching an octopus?

  • @ultimatesiri1 I think its because everyone on the internet seems to want to prove that they have higher intelligence to people that don't know.

  • And "U" is spelled "YOU" so get THAT right fuck tard...

  • You're a turd for pointing that out.

    Find someone else to bother.

  • awesome video!!

  • octopi multiple species octopuses plural get it right u fuck tards

  • Comment removed

  • octupuses are some ugly looking motherfuckers but i like em

  • octi are so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!(dont ask me why)

  • @Fredbot26

    Why?

  • i sed dont ask me,but because der so smart

  • AGree

  • aww i love them..

  • They're such beautiful creatures! I swear I'm goona have one for a pet one day, but the only live a year or two =(

Thinking of that, they're smarter than we think, I mean they're smart, but they're that smart AT 1-2 years of age!

  • Realmente son una maquina de inteligencia los malditos pulpos, son hermosos pero realmente hay que tenerles respeto.

  • Octopuses can kill sharks. No bullshit.

  • octopus tastes good

  • Octopuses are so cool!

  • Well if we are to be nerdy, here I go. The plural of octopus is octopuses according to the "Oxford dictionary of english" Octopi is wrong.

Who gives a f*** anyway? This is the most amazing creature ever.

  • The difference is Octopuses, plural, Octopi, multiple species of the general octopus family...

    Marine Biologist Nerd Here...

  • Get your Classicals right. Plural of Octopus is Octopuses in english, or Octopodes in Latin and Ancient Greek.

  • @Vinnygotnoodles I just found about 50 source that claim otherwise, including Oxford's English Dictionary saying both are acceptable. And here's a few more examples. Pluralize these words: Stratus, Alumnus, Radius.

  • @Vinnygotnoodles octopi, no thanks i prefer blue berry :D

  • @Vinnygotnoodles I bed to differ the Lepord is the best animal to ever set foot on the face of the earth

  • @Vinnygotnoodles 'Octopi' comes from the mistaken assumption that 'octopus' is a latin word, it's actually from greek and so the plural should be 'Octopod'. But of course in English: 'octopuses'

  • just had an octopus for dinner

  • im baked

  • So am I.

Documentaries are always more interesting when you're stoned.

  • agreed planet earth series in HD stoned is the most interesting thing to watch in my opinion

  • perfect comment!

  • thanks haha

  • Funny how many people correct me when I call them "Octopusses."

  • Octopussies sounds better. But octopi is the plural of octopus.

  • Octopi is wrong. It's octopodes or octopuses. Get your Latin declensions right.

  • It's an English word now and most reasonable professors wouldn't shove their aspy pedantacism on anyone for using it.

  • > pedantacism

    You mean pedantry ...

  • My comment applies to you too now. Pedantacism is also a word, look it up.

  • Hmm I detect that you either don't know the standard joke, or that you had a complete sense-of-humor failure.

But Fairy Snuff. If you want to use these new-fangled neologisms created by the ignorant and perpetrated by the unthinking, you go for it.

  • So you don't think grammar and spelling mechanisms should be applied throughout the whole language? That sounds illogical. Like saying mathematical axioms should only be true when they're convenient (1984, anyone?). Or science even. Have you heard of Esperanto? Looking at language logically is not an intellectual crime, defending a faulty system precisely for the faults it perpetuates is.

  • @D0g63rt Hehe i looked it up and it is spelled pedanticism, sry had to do it :)

  • Ha ha, You're wrong... Octopi=Multiple species within the Octopus family, or simply multiple Octopuses..

OMG he pulled out some useless latin only to FAIL.

Ask a marine biologist next time you tard...

  • @ChrissyMontagne Sorry but you're wrong. It is octopuses, there is no such thing as 'octopi'.

  • Comment removed

  • these ads before videos are bullshit! makes me not even want to watch the thing.

  • Do all octopi die once their young hatch?

  • im the only onewhotink they are cute as baybys

  • anyone for tea or coffe il even bring jaffacakes

  • c'mon man you cant be from animal planet if you call octopuses "octopii" !

  • its the plural of octopus. They both are plurals

  • thats a common miconception, cause radius is radii, octopus is octopii in plural.

    BUT

"Although it is often supposed that octopi is the 'correct' plural of octopus, and it has been in use for longer than the usual Anglicized plural octopuses, it in fact originates as an error. Octopus is not a simple Latin word of the second declension, but a Latinized form of the Greek word oktopous, and its 'correct' plural would logically be octopodes. "

    Comes Strainght from Oxford.

    Neither of us r right

  • cut and paste.

yea wat i was saying is that now both of octopuses and octopi are generally accepted in the english language as plurals of octopus (aswell as octopodes however this wasnt worth mentioning as it would just confuse), therefore there is nothing wrong with the animanl planet guy calling them octopi

  • cool thanx

  • there pretty when they change color

  • I got bitten by an octopus once.

  • thats fucking fucked up dude what was it like?

  • Wrapped itself around my torso and it's beak started eating me just below the front of my rib cage. Didn't know it was doing it for a whikle as the pain was very sharp and confusing. Served me right for hunting them I suppose, lol.

  • damn thats awful how did you escape/survive?

  • It wasn't big enough to wrap itself completely around me and I ran up the beach screaming and some kind spanish men pulled it off me.

  • How much of you did it eat?

  • ohmygod.. i think i have a deathly fear of anything that lives in the seaa.

    especially freakin octupi

  • me 2 DDDX

i think the octopus iz kind of cool though cuz it changez color :P

  • i like octopussies :D

  • truly fascinating

  • 0:31 oh for...

IT"S "OCTOPUSES"! WTF can ANY of you Americans speak properly?!

  • There are three plural forms of the word you bloody pinhead,

  • yeh, the right one and two wrong ones. who says "bloody pinhead"? I'm always right so don't argue

  • I like his usage of "Bloody pinhead"

  • actually it's octopi.

  • The word octopus isn't derived from Latin, credit goes to Greece

  • I love that plural form best because ,to me,"octopuses" sounds like...something wierd.

  • You're all stupid fucks. There's three plural forms. Octopuses, octopi, and octopodes. Why don't you idiots go do some fucking research before trying to start pointless arguments on the internet.
