GL firing Michael Zaslow was not only a bad move because it was wrong to treat an actor that way but because it was a missed opportunity storyline-wise. Roger having ALS would have been an amazing story.
Michael Zaslow was a class act. His good looks, wit and acting skills made him one of (if not) the best on the daytime soaps. R.I.P., Michael. We love you and miss you!
Before they disabled the sound, I heard this, and it was and is a beautiful tribute to Michael Zaslow. I feel so heart broken that we can not listen to this. PLEASE Let us hear this. A huge fan of GL
I think it's utter B.S. and an insult to his memory that there is no sound to this beautiful tribute. So many people, GL fans or otherwise loved him. If for no other reason than to honor his late wife and daughter, add the sound to this video.
Michael deserves a tribute with sound, and it's a shame that it was removed. I'll never forget that day on the show when I noticed that he slurred his words. There had been no announcement, and I think it may have been before he was diagnosed. It stopped me cold. He was an amazing, much loved, and forever missed actor.
@GeorgiaPat I remember too, and then there was a time for some reason that I went to my older tapes about a year before and you could really tell the difference in his speech.
The sound should be put back on. There is know reason for it to be blocked. This was a wonderful tribute to Michael Zaslow, and I wish to hear this again. Please put the sound back on!
I don't know who WMG is, but I think it's horrible that they are not allowing Mr. Zaslow's fans to watch (and hear) this footage. I loved Michael as many other fans, and you are hateful for blocking the audio. Just remember...GREED KILLS!
Basically everything on YT is copyright infringement. Why do you allow video's to be posted that are scenes from movies that aren't even released to the theaters yet? But you won't allow the posting of a tribute to Michael Zaslow. Come on anyone could have taped this from their VCR. YT hates Soaps. YOU ought to be ashamed.
I didn't watch Guiding Light for very long (1989-1992) but Roger Thorpe was the absolute best villian ever on a daytime drama. He makes Victor Newman, Sheila Carter, and Stephanie Forrester look like church mice in comparison. I like to think that Michael Zaslow, Beverlee McKinsey, Darlene Conley, and Terry Lester are all up there somewhere acting in that big daytime drama in the sky.
Outstanding. I remember Terry for his Russian studies and how if I tune into Y & R I always remember him. And Michael Zaslow, wow, the best ever in daytime.
I miss seeing michael zaslow on both gl and oltl, I know that he did not beleive in god, but somehow i think he got to see the face of god, and is residing in heaven now, he beloved daughter Helena joined him on dec 28, 2004 she suffered a heart attack brought on by a drug overdose, and later his wife joined both of them on November 28, 2006 when she lost her battle with cancer, Marika is i am sure very sad at the loss of her family, but is doing well
Michael Zaslow was unique talent and for me GL will never be the same without Roger Thorpe
I am glad to say that years ago i had the pleasure of meeting then writer Megan McTavish on a F train subway in NYC we talked about bringing back of Michael to GL i gave her the idea of Roger secretly working for the government the rest is history and i was glad to have a small role in his return
Actually his wife died of cancer and his daughter Helena killed herself which leaves Marika all alone.
If there is anyone who knows Marika out there, please take care of her, my heart breaks to think of all she has gone through. She is very much in my prayers.
Holy Cow! Wes Ramsey bears a very strong resembence to Michael Zaslow in his younger days! (Wes Ramsey played Olivia's brother Sam on GL and also played grown up Wyatt on Charmed)
The people at GL were "scared" to deal with this disease. Michael was such a powerful actor, that seeing him being a shell of his former self was too hard. Also, GL are notorious for discriminating against African-Americans, "Older Actors", and "Veterans". Don't you notice that none of Michael's "former" colleauges are on the show now?
That's pretty much a descripton of all soaps, expect Y&R... and DAYS to a lesser extent. African-Americans, veterans, and seniors are always given no story or not present at all on most soaps, unfortunately.
I agree with you. GL puts up this thing about being the oldest soap on television and how they value family and life but they did Michael wrong and other actors on the show wrong over the years.

My mother died of ALS. Michael gave ALS a face. He did so much to make sure that no family has to suffer through this. Thank you Michael.
