thats outside of custer sd. thats my neck of the woods. did you get to go to any of the caves out here on your trip? we see them busses a lot over the sumer there typicaly tourist groups from Japan. If you where to drive north on hwy 89 from sylvan lake lodge up towards hwy 385/ 16 there are some more tunnels there a hair bigger but the tour busses run through them all the time. Lots of pretty country and Its a neat place to live but a hard place to make a living.

As I've had a couple of visitors comment on my use of the phrase "I and my family," I figured I better try to put to bed this apparent grammatical problem. So I looked through a copy of the book "Handbook of Grammar and Composition" (yes, I have a copy because my wife home schools our youngest child). As near as I can tell, from looking through the book and talking with my wife, the term I used is not necessarily incorrect, but, it is uncommon. Thanks for the comments!

And,

The prior is clearly correct.

FYI - The way I was always told is to remove any reference to the other party (in this case "and my family") and if it sounds right afterwards then it is the correct usage. You would not say "Me took a vacation", you would say "I took a vacation". However, the proper sentence structure should be "My family and I...", which is why your sentence makes it sound odd. It's not that hard... a bus is just a rectangular box. if your mirrors can make it through in one piece, the rest will too... (as long as you don't steer.) Don't forget that these guys make more miles in their coach than in their car. (at least I do) I find it harder to drive a little car or van than a bus...

It's a different way of driving, but once you've acquired the skills (which took quite a while for me, I was not talented), it's a piece of cake... :)
