  • Somebody posted another video of Rainer hersch doing this. You can't even post comments on it.

  • I like to remember Harpo Marx's very effective way of getting rid of Rachmaninov (read his autobiography, HARPO SPEAKS). Rachmaninov had made a nuisance of himself in an artists retreat, and Harpo stuck in the next cabin, began playing this fortissimo on his harp.

Rachmaninov demanded to be moved as far as possible from "that dreadful harpist".

Rachmaninov never liked this piece, and his antipathy oward it grew as the years passed.

  • haha that was hilarios

  • that was funny

  • GREAT !!!!

  • I just love these two, it sort of balances out a lot of the crap that envelops "classical music". It's music and Rach, nuff respect.

  • but only hand small xD

  • crackin up right now... this is fuckin funny!!!

  • Very original!:-))

  • its prelude op3 no.2

  • lol imagine that in a serious concert XD

  • Sergei Rachamaninov's prelude C minor No.2.....It's not easy music...even good pianist also, really hard to perform this music. ..Yes right ..specially small hands, It's funny idea comedy action. But, I surprising and feels amaging for his wonderful piano skill. he is great pianist even without funny action.

  • @somdphd this prelude? This is simple :))) Etude-Tableaux are hard, but that Prelude not... maybe Prelude g minor... In difficulty, this is nothing in compare with Chopin Preludes ;))

  • @geuros To jump a technical hurdle is just a question of talent in fine motor skills + a lot of ambitious exercises. Many have both of it. But only few master timing, volume and intensity of slow, emotional pieces. There are thousands of brilliant musicians in the world with outstanding technical skills. But only very very few who make their listeners cry. Keep that in mind when you play Rach's C# minor prelude in future. One of the hardest to pull off in terms of dynamics and intensity... ;)

  • This is brilliant! And amazing "stagehand" work!

  • lol i have this problem.. my hands aren't big enough and i need to play keys that are 9 to 10 keys apart. :(

  • this just cracks me up. it has shades of victor borge that you just don't see these days. this is an instant classic:P

  • This isn't a song. This isn't pop-music. It's Classical.

It's taken from a section of a Prelude by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

  • It's taken from an etude isn't it?

  • No, it's from Rach's Prelude in C# Minor

  • lol wow. this is such a hard piece to play, it kills my hands.

  • that was the whole point. muahaha.

  • LOL

  • what is the piece called

  • Rachmaninoff Prelude 3, op 2, in C i think..

  • c# minor

  • It's suposed to be comical, these two are like music geniuses. They pretend the caos and all that.
