  • i seriously didn't notice that you had bells palsy until now...

also there's a website where you write an email to yourself and set the send date and they don't send it to your email address until then. it's futureme.org

  • Yes There Are Flying Cars!!!!!! Thay Have Expanded wings and they are coming out next March for $130,000!!! BOOM

  • @TheRydog100

meh. They've been coming out "next March" for 10 years now... :-)

    ~Trav

  • I didn't even notice you had Bell's Palsy until you said something about it! lol I had had it about 17 years ago but it passed with me. It was bad though, I couldn't shut my left eye so it had to be taped closed and I had to wear an eye patch.

  • @RayneyNight

I actually had a gold weight installed in my eyelid to allow it to close. Until I was 20, I couldn't close my eye all the way. Still can't quite all the way :-)

    ~Trav

  • @sivartis THATS WHY YOUR EYEBROW IS ALWAYS LOOKING LIKE THAT!

    I think it looks cool.

  • @sivartis In a totally sympathetic way...

  • @sivartis Wow, I never would have guessed. I always just thought you had an adoreably quirky smile. It's always been my favorite thing about looking at you. :)

  • This was really touching and inspiring! Thank you so much!

  • This was really touching and inspiring! Thank you so much!

  • LION STARBUTT

  • Thank you for the very inspiring words! You sound so honest, just know that this video and all the other's you make do have an impact. Also I could not believe you had been teased as a kid, you have a beautiful face.

  • Travis I love you so much <3

I'm 15 now XD Stuck in school and I hate it - But you have helped. I only have another 8 months of school so yesh, what you said makes sense. Thanks man, you're awesome <3 xxxxx

  • :O you forgot to tell him what to invest his money into in stock :O

  • oh, Travis, you are a lovely human being <3

  • I can remember being 15 and all the emotions that you go through, and even though kids never seem to believe us, it truly does get better. This whole project is a truly amazing idea. Thank you for being a part of it.

  • I didn't know you where gay.

  • Very good work Travis..... I'm almost 46 and at 13, tried to over dose on pills. I delt with the teasing in junior and senior high school and could tell no one. I really didn't come out until almost 25. At 25, you have a bit more emotional maturity than at 13 per say. More GLBT folks need to be there to help the younger people out there needing counsel and unconditional love and support . I am open to suggestions on how I can help in the Dallas area.

  • i figure i'll ask now. have you finished the practice games on starcraft 2 yet?

  • What's Bell's Palsy?

  • wow didnt even notice the bells palsy. I knew what it was so that wasnt the issue. I guess I just find you so funny that it never stood out. great videos man. keep them coming. and I will be voting and donating.

  • This is awesome, Trav. So many teenagers think their lives are defined by 15, when in fact they have their whole lives ahead of them!

  • "Everyone wants you to... use your brilliant young mind to do something useful."

Travis, you TOTALLY are. Look at what you're doing now!

  • Until you mentioned Bell's Palsy a while back, I thought you just had, like, the BEST People's-Eyebrow-and-Smirk thing going.

  • It would have helped so much to have had something like this growing up in SC in the 80s. Sad to see how much it's still needed. Thanks for posting this.

  • Travis, you are so amazingly awesome.

    Just had to be said.

Also, I didn't even notice the Bell's until you mentioned it. Those kids were idiots.

  • I gave a good friend of mine the same advice, that it gets better, last night. Because I know it got better for me :)

  • darn. i always thought your face was like that because you were sly and devious. i had to google bell's palsy.

  • honestly, i just thought your expressions were just... your facial expressions. i didn't really notice anything weird about it, if that's any comfort... great video :)

  • I had no idea you had Bells Palsy. I actually had to go look it up to see what it is. But I think it just gives you more character, and I love your smile.

Good luck raising money for RNGG! I'll definitely watch when new stuff comes out.

  • Now I want to write one of these. Except I'm 17, so it wouldn't really make much sense. Still, sometimes I feel like the me from six months ago could have benefited from a letter, which just goes to show what this year's been like.

  • Aww, this was so sweet! I am 14, I wonder what i will say in my letter when I get older?

  • @TheCommentCookie

Write a letter to your future self! Like, on paper. Write "Do not open until 2025". I just found the one I wrote in High School and it was hysterically inaccurate about predicting my future.

    ~Trav

  • @sivartis That's a great idea! Thanks!

  • @sivartis - Travis, any chance of you reading that letter in a future vlog?

  • @sivartis - if you feel comfortable with it, you shoudl read us that letter you wrote to your furute self, i know id love to hear it.

  • LOL, I've been watching your videos for about a year and I just notised you have bell's Palsy!!!

    P.S. Voted

  • I reeeally think that you wouldn't be this cool, loving, caring, funny, supportive, talented guy if you were not gay and if you didn't have bell's Palsy. I didn't noticed untin I read on the coments. But doesn't matter. I love you the way you are. That's what makes us unique: dificulties we have and get over, make us stronger and better people. I love your shows, since 2HGITS. Hope I could do more for you from Brazil. I hope u get rich and famous on TV shows all over!

  • @pauloavilaneto

You know what? I've often attributed the Bells Palsy with giving me a perspective on life that made me a more caring, empathetic person. Totally.

    Thanks for the support ;-)

    ~Trav

  • That was a really nice video. Thank you for sharing. It gets better is such a positive message.

  • I love you.

  • Thank you so much Travis! This is why the internet is so great, because there are people like you and Dan Savage who are willing to use it to make the world a better place. This video made my day. Thanks for being you and just being awesome.

  • Voted..

  • Travis i love you. btw i liked the Transformer movie >.<

  • Thank you for this video, Travis. It really doe get better, though sequels ARE hard to deal with. Don't worry, it will get better, sooner or later. ^^

about ones needs and others' desires, i have hard time struggling with that. I'm going through a rough spot at school, and maybe I'll drop out for now. But that's not what my parents want, and it makes me cry to think i'm letting them down. thank you for saying what you said, even if you said it to yourself, it's very useful to us to hear it. ^^

  • @akissy

If you're talking about college, I dropped out, too, and have never felt like it was a bad idea. It does depend on what you want to do with your life, though. Some careers obviously require more school :-)

I did cry when I decided to leave, though. Exact same feelings, like I was disappointing my parents. They totally got over it.

    ~Trav

  • Great job. Glad JoeMyGod featured you. I will look forward to more of your fun videos and thanks for contributing to the Better Project.

  • @DaveCondie

Thanks for letting me know! That's so nice of Joe!

    ~Trav

  • I thought it was 1-115

  • This was a really special video, Travis. If you ever, EVER in the future wonder if you've made a positive difference in your career or in your life, come back here and re-read all the comments. Just beautiful.

I'm so glad to count myself as one of your friends, and even more glad to count you as one of mine. Just a fantastic job, all around.

    Also, wait... you're gay?!

  • Until you mentioned your paulsy at vidcon, I didn't notice, and tbh I never notice it.

  • Wow, this was a beautiful video <3 Really.

Thank you for sharing this <3 <3

  • I think the Bell's Palsy makes you look handsome and a little roguish. I really enjoyed this vid. I think many kids could benifit from it.

  • I voted. WOOT

    =Nerdfighter Math

  • First off, Thank you! It's so good to see youtubers like you participating in Savage's project. I think you are amazing!

I find it interesting, my roommate and I started watching your stuff with RNGG, and to be honest, I never notices your Bell's Palsy. I didn't notice until my roommate mentioned it, and I was in complete shock, cause I'd never noticed. But that just goes to show that it doesn't matter.

    Keep up the great work!

  • You give amazing advice. I love the idea of 'it gets better' :) xxxx

  • This video was so moving. Its inspired me to create a similar video to my younger self. Hopefully it helps someone out, and I'm sure it will be a cathartic experience for me. Thanks for sharing such personal feelings with us - you rock Travis :)

  • i am 19 and i still watch :D

    college. yay....

    :)

    keep it up!

  • Why didn't you tell yourself about your amazing boyfriend? :D And you're maybe not rich money-wise, but you are rich fanbase-wise! Your fans are real supporters (the famous actors only have fans who are fan of a romantic version of those actors) and I'm proud to count myself as one of your fans :)

  • @dani4ever92 Yeah, why DIDN'T he tell himself about his amazing boyfriend... :-D

  • @hollywoodrob2005

Well, I didn't want to freak myself out! I still thought I was going to get married to some girl. What a shock that would have been! :-)

    *muah!*

    ~T

  • Travis, you made me cry. :,) Thank you so much for making this, really. I only wish I’d have heard this about five years ago. This is exactly the thing struggling teens need to hear. I’m sure it’s not easy opening your life up like that but I truly think it will do so much good.

    Thank you!

  • @lostismyconstent

Yeah, I know what you mean! It's so easy to feel alone and hopeless at that age! This is a simple message that I hope can help.

    ~Trav

  • Your honesty is really inspiring, Travis! I love you for being able to just talk at length about deeply personal topics to an audience like this. Thanks for being awesome!!

I'd tell you that I agree entirely with all that you've said (except I thought Transformers 2 kicked ass) but I think we both know that in today's society understanding and tolerance are the norm, and the minority that don't aren't worth bothering with, so it's just preaching to the converted really.

    Much love <3

  • @OrgasmandTea

I tolerate your love of Transformers 2. :-)

    ~Trav

  • I never had an issue when i was 15, I never had an issue ever really, Now when I became a furry, thats when I had issues. But not from my family, cause they don't know either of them, me being gay or a furry, though I think my mom suspects the gay thing. Oh well, still no issues.

  • Well done Travis. Moving and funny. And yes, it does get better.

  • I made a Yobi account just to vote for you! Hope you win! 'cause that would be awesome. 'cause you're awesome.

  • made a yobi account just to vote for you. Hope your life keeps getting better, i know mine is

  • Aw, Trav, this made me cry. And then the Transformers part made me laugh. I think what Dan Savage is doing is so great, and I'm glad you decided to be a part of it. You're brave to talk about all those insecurities. I'm 40 years old (well outside your main demographic) and I still have that awkward, insecure, confused 15-year-old inside of me. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it makes me happy to know you're in the world. Keep being you, and thanks.

    -Jen

  • I made my screen name Remember. How cool is that? No seriously, I`m asking...

  • this is a wonderful vid. thank you for being so open about yourself. this vid will help so many people.

  • thanx man,

I've been feeling kinda down lately and you just reminded me that I have to believe that things do get better. I will write myself a letter when i'm 59 to tell myself now that it get's better.

Also I think it great that you spoke so candidly about your Bells Palsy. I noticed it, but never really dared to ask about it. Cause, well, you don't know me, so a p.m. seemed inappropriate and asking about it in the comments seemed uncomfortable. I say good on you, you're a good man.

  • Internet? meh... its just a fad :P

What a good video to wake up to.

  • Will show this to my younger sister, who's going through a tough period in her life. Thanks. :-)

  • Sometimes people do just need someone to say everything's going to turn out ok.

  • Good advice. You rarely make others happy, if you're not happy. You didn't mention the horrors of Indiana Jones 4. Maybe it's for the best.

  • Thank you.

My school exams are in a weeks time and I should just breathe and keep telling myself it will get better.

  • good for you Travis! I love watching BIG youtubers like you and vlogbros open up a look into their personal lives. I understand (i think) about your stepdad. **Question: Do you still talk to your birth father?** (if he is deceased, i am sorry. I dont talk to mine for prsonal reasons that if you want, i can PM you about to discuss). Hope you win, I created an account just to vote for you!

  • @gthyhtujjuk

my dad and I have improved our relationship immensely as we've both gotten older. He's very supportive of me, now.

Thank you so much for supporting me on Yobi! Make sure you put your username in the comments of that What The Buck vid, maybe you'll win $100!

    ~Trav

  • @AntigGfull

That made me so happy I cried a little. :-)

    Thanks

    ~Trav

  • I would have had a much more positive outlook on my life if I had known that someday, maybe I would own a starbutt lion shirt.

  • That's right...life gets better...the transformer movies do not. Pretty much how I live my life.
