  • This song is more fitting today than when it was written.

  • I also liked Good Bye Saving Grace, from the Wishes vinyl. And his cover of RED HOUSE is one of my favourites, Thanks Noctural Vagabond for posting . JB is very under rated and under appreciated.

  • Great music from someone like Jon Butcher.... I liked his stuff from the first moments of hearing this album.... I picked it up in cassette and listened to it so many times. Great stuff and I wish he had more.

  • Hmmm. The lyrics were a sad prediction of things to come. Jon was a bit before his time.

  • I was and still am a huge fan of the Jon Butcher Axis, I even got to meet him, sadly though, after he broke up the "Axis" his music changed so drastically that I stopped listening to him. I wish he'd never broken up the group. It was a brilliant combination of talent.

  • Jon is definitely underrated--he is absolutely awesome in person.

  • This got great air play in Phoenix AZ back in 87

  • The entire album is amazing

  • nice 80's feel

  • the best band i completely forgot about..he did get substantial airplay on our local airwaves, however a casualty of the grunge invasion...again thanks to rockers and youtube fans

  • We, Vertex Entertainment, are making a mini-doc at the moment on Charlie Farren and Jon Butcher. Trailer to Farren - Butcher on our channel and in the video responses. Please make a visit to our website also @ vertexentertainment . com

  • Jon Butcher ,definately underated his blues stuff after wishes was also great ,sadly another case of not enough promo because a lot of people missed some great music

  • I loooove watching and listening to this video. ;) TJ

  • Jon Butcher is sadly underrated. A great guitarist and vocalist, and a genuinely nice person. I've been listening to him and the Axis since jr. high. Thanks for posting this great vid. BTW, someone asked why he was wearing a "Hamas" scarf... Did you listen to the song???

  • Does anyone know if there any videos made for "Pictures From The Front" CD? That was a tape and CD I listened to a lot.

  • Ah, Jon.......we went to college together in Boston. Glad to see he is so very talented. TJ

  • Why is he using a hamas scarf?

  • "Wishes" is a very underrated album. Love it! Reminds me of growing up in Rhode Island listening to WHJY and WBRU in the 80's. Thanks for uploading!

  • Spectacular Jon! Great job!

  • Love Jon! I remember him from my young days. I grew up two towns over, when he played in his garage. His song, "It Takes A Good Man" really stuck with me. I played it over and over in my first car. Jon, you rock!!!

  • It depends who you think of as freedom fighters because some people get that one mixed up

  • Nice song, i think there is a BIG different bettween holy war and freedom fighters.

  • I saw Jon at Great America 1988 open for Starship ? $7.00 per ticket could not pass it up

  • I've been looking for this song for years - thanks for posting.

  • I hope someone mentioned that anyone seeking the attention of the public who had a "minority" opinion of the Persian Gulf War in that era, i.e.; that the USA doesn't have to fix/repair/invade (which George H.W. Bush did change his mind on later, writing in his own memoirs that he felt that he had already "finished the job," and didn't need to go back to remove Sadaam) who faced not only MTV but most of the rest of the newly corporate-owned as well's wrath. Opposition was dealt with.

  • Who remembers the CHANNEL in South Boston? He used to rock it out there.

  • Anyone from Boston or the New England area thats over 30 years old remembers the Channel! That place was the best. The Rat was a cool dingy place too :)

  • Saw Jon around this time at a club in Minneapolis that burned down a week after he played there. He played a red ESP neckthru superstrat thru a stack of Marshalls and was on fire that night. Great underrated player.

  • I saw john in oh 1979 or 80 on local live broadcast in boston.he was incredible

for some reason jimi hendrix entered my mind,wow..this is going to be big...but he never really caught on to the star...

he play with a white strat and double stack

behind him he was doing jimi hendrix all the way it amazing! I will never forget,I guess I did see jimi hendrix that night

YOUR IN MY ROCK HALL OF MAN ...THANKS FOR THE MEMORY

  • i saw jba in 1986 along with blue oyster cult, blackfoot, and outlaws in nh- and awesome show! i always thought this guy was underrated. thanks for posting.

  • Sure do miss seeing him.... was one of my favorites to go see, remembering the Jon Ansen Ford amphitheatre in Hollywood/Brubank? CA he rocked the place to the ground..

  • I used to see the band whenever they came around...Hampton Beach Casino in NH is his regular place. They were great!

  • thanks so much for posting this....jon should have been as big as eddie or dimebag....so much talent

  • I was born in Shirley Mass, home of the Mohawk Club, where he played all the time. Unfortunately, I was underage at the time...

  • I am a little bit south, the JBA use to play at Lupo's in Providence RI where the new police staion stands, right next to rt. 95 south.

  • it wasn't Lupo's,it was JR's Fastlane.....

  • Well, Im a little bit south now, too. LOL I failed to mention that I have lived in RI for the last 33 years. Moved here when I was 8. I DID see John Butcher in 1990 at the old Living Room.

I should have mentioned that, too...LOL

  • Jon does movie scores and such in LA now. He only did five rock albums like this, and the others are electric blues (as Barefoot Servants) and instrumentals.

Wishes is the best album America forgot to buy. This album and David Baerwald's Bedtime Stories (1990) are two of the most overlooked gems in rock history.

  • Any chance you have videos of Big Guitars and Wicked Woman by The Butcher Man?

  • Sadly no. Doesn't seem they got much airplay here in Australia. I only ever remember seeing this clip a handful of times, 3 or 4 maybe, in the past 20 years!!! Might see if there are any video compilations available, if I can find one I will certainly upload a few.

  • there was 2 of them,Life Takes A life and Don't Say Goodnight MTV rarely played them due to the fact they were on overdrive pushing Michael Jackson on the masses.

  • @NocturnalVagabond the song you posted did in fact get alot of air play here,I live south of Boston the The Job Butcher Axis was a mainstaple song on WHJY and in fact when they would advertise what groups would be at the local nightclubs Jon Butcher's Sentinal would be playing in the background :-)

  • @none02910 I think you misunderstood me - I am in Australia, and it had little airplay *here*, so I am rather envious of your radio stations now :(

  • Much thanks for new BUTCHER video!!!! Jon is my favorite guitar player/musician!!! I seen him so many times in the Boston area.

  • I saw JB in concert in SF about 15 years ago - he was AMAZING.
