@daltonr17 - By changing the way your machine reads the disc. The machine loads the data off the disc temporarily into a different kind of memory than your hard drive space, but modifies the data with the patch information and runs that combined data instead, I suspect. x360 prevents you from staying online if you don't have the patch, and PS3 automatically takes the patch without your consent if you're online and playing it so you'd have to physically unplug the machine to prevent patching.

Note: I highly reccommend if you do this glitch at low level, if you have DLC: Operation Anchorage, do it first so you recieve the armor and weapons inside.

The reason i say this is because the enemies level as you do, therefore spawning tougher creatures such as radscorpions, super mutant masters etc.  (You will get OWNED otherwise)

@Likeimleet - Although your advice means well, I fear that installing Operation Anchorage patches this trick so that it is no longer possible. Although enemies do level as you do, there are certain areas where enemies will still be less frequent and less intense that others, such as around Megaton and Vault 101 -- plus you will have the strength/etc benefits of a higher level anyway and therefore more weapon/ammo drops from kills appropriately., not to mention the added perks.

If you want to recover from the major karma loss, when you get to a certain level. Just choose a perk that will set your karma to "VERY GOOD" (Idk the name or level tho.)

@gamesworkshopdude it will work if your playing on the xbox 360 you can delete your patches by going to the dashboard and then system settings blah blah blah go to memory harddrive then clear your system cache and it will work as long as you don't reupdate when you go into the game :P

@angelo2366 - I honestly dunno, I never tried it any further than just to make the video. If you do it once and discover there is, perhaps you should look up the "scrap metal glitch" instead.. takes way longer to set up, but you can get tons of exp quickly once you're prepared..

@BlueEagle62O - it's a repair made by the game company to fix errors in the game, which for console games (ps3, x360) are usually automatic to some degree, automatically updated to the "patched" version (like sewing a patch over a hole in some trousers). You need the "unpatched" version of Fallout 3 for this to work, because the trick is what the company fixed.

If you can get mostly successes with Big Town, often, then Big Town is faster than Andale because there is such a long wait between retries with Andale. The reward appears smaller with Big Town, but on a minute-by-minute average, Andale is slower.

(a) don't go killing random people, you're destroying your chances at finding future missions. Some people won't talk about the missions until 3 or 4 steps down the line until you get to them. (b) reload an old save from before you killed them to try it, and (c) try the scrap metal glitch instead.

Removing or blocking addons is part of the unpatching process, but I'm not sure if Broken Steel had any patch aspects along with it. There are other bigger and better after-patch tricks for unlimited XP than this, so I wouldn't think it'd be worth it ^_^ Check out the "scrap metal glitch" instead =)

Oh, not necessarily. There's a dude in the Underground who will take scrap metal for trade, just the same.

after u have done the pitt dlc you open a better way to use scrap metal put them in an "materials bin activate the near by ammo press terminal select what ammo u want and press it then collect the ammo from the bin.

Getting certain DLC (addons) lets you move on to level 30, otherwise 20 is the highest you can go. As you progress through the main story you'll come across the special armor training (or the Chinese invasion addon will let you get it earlier).

It's a terrible idea to randomly kill people. You're very likely destroying your chances at future missions, because lots of them don't talk about the mission until a few steps down from another one.
