this is real racing, not that Indy 500 bullshit... street racing is the best, like Long Beach and Monaco... these carts are fast, but not like an F1 cart... there's no 4 wheeled vehicle on planet earth that can out perform an F1 cart...

@TruenoandLevin86 "a real fan" wouldn't find oval track racing exciting...i understand the tradition behind Indy, but making right hand turns and pumping your brakes hard and feeling those G forces, are a fantastic part of racing that you don't get at Indy...but cart racing is almost dead in the U.S.... boring-ass Nascar has taken over...

but in terms of the best cart racing in the world? F1 is the elite...don't even try and argue that one...

@conni70 There are only oval races on the IRL circuit that are worth watching in my opinion and those are Indy and Texas Motor Speedway. Indy because it is very hard to make those turns perfectly lap after lap regardless of how easy the drivers make it look. Texas because it is at night and always "too damned close" wheel to wheel racing. But you're are right. Formula One rules and it ALWAYS will. The technology in those cars is just incredible. Those drivers are ultimately skilled.

CART could have out performed F1, had the wheelbase not been so wide, and the tub / body of the car been lighter.

@SocialAutism CART had no power steering, and no driver assists such as traction control. CART was WAAAY harder to drive than F1 in that era, (cristiano daMatta said that over and over) and lap times were just 3-4 seconds slower.

So the cars were comparable performance wise, but the CART drivers out performed F1drivers if you ask me. :)

@easleyrider your forgetting one point the tracks? the champ car tracks are much more technical the most f1 tracks at this time and the only tight track left in f1 is monaco. and the racing hear is much better

1999: REYNARD, LOLA, PENSKE, SWIFT & EAGLE :: HONDA, TOYOTA, MERCEDES & FORD :: FIRESTONE & GOODYEAR... TRACKS, STREET TRACKS, SPEEDWAYS AND SUPERSPEEDWAYS..WHAT A MEMORIES... im so deeply sad.. i miss CART.. not the last seasson of the series, THIS YEARS, THIS LEVEL OF RACING AND COMPETITION, the sound of the V8 TURBOS.. without the rpm limit.. I WILL REMEMBER THIS YEARS FOR EVER.
