@aescom when tail is down it means he is in a calm state alot of ppl think tail up is good but tail down(not tail between legs) is the best mood of a dog calm and ready to obey ready to meet other dogs.

Thai ridgebacks are actually very proud hard to see them tail down :D

The Thai Ridgeback are very royalty their owner. The other kind of Thai dog is Bangkaew also very nice. I love them :)

I am getting a Thai Ridgeback soon. Same color, red. I am wondering if there are anythings to consider. I heard they can get skin diseases because they are bred that way (they weren't always not hairy, they are bred that way now.). Also did you train him? LIke Dog Whisperer ? LOL!

yes they were originally bred to take down mountain lions but lately over the years breeders have beeen making them smaller

Hi, Thai Ridgebacks are from NE Thailand. No Mountain Lions there. They were bred for hunting Tapir and deer, as well as guard dogs.

no, they cant compare with those dogs, because they dont have fighting heart. in thailand u'll find these dogs everywhere on the streets. these dogs are brave when they r in pack. they only look fearsome because of their muscular appearance. they mostly attack or harass people or other dogs at night because someone is in their territory. just throw rocks or dash through them they will back off. as for me i love dashing through them becuz i like to see how coward they are.

and they are coward cuz ppl hurt them thts why....

pure thai ridge backs or thai bangkaews arent coward and they are vry protective .. no one can hurt their owners

@homehuthousehaha i wouldnt say all of them on the streets are not pure thai ridge backs. some actually are. especially in the country side areas in the temples. i have a friend who adopted 2 puppies from temple and raise them and they're looking good. even some breeder adopt good looking characteristic there too. Also, im not saying they are that coward. they're mostly quite aggressive towards other dogs.

in my opinion these dogs are good for alerting the owner of the house for intruder like burglars. all they do is bark. and if u show ur fear they will attack u but if u show that u not afraid of them they will just back off but still barking at u though. come to thailand u will see i mean.

Not sure what part of Thailnd you are from. but it's pretty rare to find a pure bread ridgback bark on the streets. especially when most of them sell for wll over a couple of thosand doallrs if they are nice.

this seems like a new location for this dog, that's why she's exploring going from one place to another. She's staking out the territory and affirming certain sights in her memory. Cats do this too.
