  • Hard to beat a vox half cocked

  • Vox has cleaner tone and more treble. Cry Baby is a bit more distorted and thicker mid to bass.

  • The differences between the two are so subtle, hardly enough difference to say one is better than the other. Boils down to personal taste I guess.

  • I cannot pay attention with those boots XD

  • I love the Vox sound compared to the crybaby.

The only thing that a cry baby is good for is to make children cry.

  • this guy sounds like jack black XP

  • I think that Vox is better! :D

  • im between this and the crybaby

and of courrse theres the cheaper behringer hellbabe but something tells me not to buy cheap wah pedals :D

  • @hjalmarBuoi

In general, don't buy plastic (Behringer's plastic). The only plastic pedal that ever worked for me was the Fish'N'Chips EQ. Only one that hasn't broken.

  • can i use stock vox with fuzz pedal?

  • Intro song???

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon I GUESS THAT IS A PASSAGE TO BANGKOK OF RUSH

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon Sorry, that is from the vox first test :D

  • I guess it depends on what you're after, Vox is cleaner while the Crybaby is muddier, Id prefer the Crybaby for a Hendrix type effect or even blaxploitation films of the 70's type of wah sound.

  • @tecumseh22 You'd prefer the crybaby over the vox wah for hendrix even though hendrix used a vox wah?

  • @V100BB hendrix used vox and crybaby,he would alternate them

  • the vox is like "wah!"

    the crybaby is like "WUAH!"

  • I have a vintage Crybaby with the oldschool fassel chip and it sounds very similar to the VOX wah demonstrated here. I also modded it to be true bypass, seems not squash off the highs and lows so much like the crybaby here. Bottom line? Vox is clearer, seems to have more range but may be potentially harsh with too much gain. Crybaby sounds especially muddy as it dips off in the lows and has less range overall, but that my be desirable for high gain. Me? Mod the Crybaby, buy the Vox stock.

  • Crybaby all the way! It has more WAH!

  • VOX VOX VOX VOX!!!

  • why do people always bang on about hendrix using the crybaby he used a vox! just look at the woodstock footage...vox

  • I know hardly anything about pedals, could anyone advise me on which to buy? I have an Epiphone Les Paul and play Jimi Hendrix and RATM. I'd appreciate any help :)

  • @carrotsandnutella you're going to want the dunlop crybaby. even the behringer hellbabe wah is better than the vox one, the vox has way too much high frequency, it's ear-piercing. dunlop crybaby all the way.

  • I could not tell the difference between the two to my ear. I don't play guitar so maybe that's why.

  • can play bulls on parade with the vox

    ?

  • i want a wah pedal that has true bypass, the crybaby classic is amazing but doesnt have true bypass....HELP PLEASE!?

  • @iamsdeathgod well artec wahs are true bypass, but people say they suck. but you can always truebypass-ed your wah pedal yourself

  • @iamsdeathgod the crybaby classic (95F, to be exact) is true bypass.

  • OMG HE IS WARRING SHOES

  • VOX sounds better

  • crybaby

  • VOX

  • i like the crybabies throatier sound (i has the zakk wylde and original)

  • The Cry Baby seems to put a small amount of distortion

  • Is that a Vox v847 or a v847-A? Anyone knows?

  • @hakimteo Looks like a V847 :)

  • if you keep your wah plugged in will it drain the battery? if so does that mean you have to unplug everytime you're finished playing?

  • @tannerr96 yes it does, usually just the instrument jack. Power adapters are so much better for home use.

  • @gl797 so i'm new with effects and everything but i know you make a chain but does the adapter plug into the wall? i know if you have multiple pedals you can have a board and make a chain but this will be my first one so can i just plug it into the wall as the power source?

  • @tannerr96 yes it plugs into a wall outlet or power strip. if you were to set up a chain of effects then you would need a power adapter that can power many pedals. If you plan on buying more pedals in the future then I'd go with an adapter that comes complete with everything needed to run a bunch of effect pedals.

  • I HATE THOSE SHOES

  • Owned just about every wah out there in this price range, while the Vox is beter than the standard crybaby ..imo nothing beats the crybaby classic fasel, it doesn't have the harshness when in toe down position of all the others.

  • Zajebiste kapcie ;D

  • 1968 Gibson SG, mint condish.

  • Sounds like Jack Black.

  • What is that on his foot and why isn't he killing it?

  • The crybaby sounds more like a rock n roll pedal to me

  • cry baby has to much too Wah Wah the vox sounds better and I even have a cry baby

  • The Cry baby sounds like its adding some treble to the guitars sound

  • Vox and Crybaby are the samething but certain shops didnt want vox selling in there stores so they just made "another " pedal called the crybaby as they said in the documentary

  • Ah. I'm at a serious crossroads. I play everything style-wise. But I mostly play ambient/shoegaze in my band and like experimental/surf rock stuff in my friend's band. I have almost completed my "dream" board but I need a wah. Which would one of you youtubers suggest?

  • has any body ever wanted to get two wahs, stand on them both, pretend like your skiing and just strumming away into an avalanche of wah wah bliss? I have. . . I have.

  • @tralfamadorian42

i've wanted to do that with a wah and a whammy.

  • @tralfamadorian42 ive done it. it sounds cool but i can't think of a practical use for it. dimebag darrell did that with a wah and a whammy pedal for a solo (cant remember which one though.)

  • @tralfamadorian42 Stevie Ray Vaughan has

  • @tralfamadorian42 Stevie Ray Vaughan used to do that; he had a vintage vox and the crybaby that belonged to Jimi Hendrix, he'd use both of them live when he played Voodoo Child (Slight Return).

  • @tralfamadorian42 lol I thought I was the only one

  • @tralfamadorian42, that sounds lovely

  • @tralfamadorian42 i have done that i have 4 wah pedels 2 zakk wydle a vox and some shitty hell babe wah ( 2 zakks cuz one i thought was broken but it was a bad power suppli and i had a show that i needed to get to so i just bought one that day )

  • @tralfamadorian42 sounds like a good way to get cardio

  • I can't stand my CryBaby because when I move it into the treble side, it gets really piercing to the ear. I want a wah that is more subtle on the treble side... Would the Vox do that for me?

  • @TheSpearsProductions try them out in a guitar shop before you buy them man :P

  • @TheSpearsProductions My Vox 847 wah is much darker than my regular Crybaby. Almost too dark.

  • el cry baby tiene mas potencia es de mejor calidad su sonido

  • vox ftw

  • i think the v845 sounds better then the v847.

  • I think that Cry Baby is more for a Rock Sound (gain and distortion, like Jimy )

Vox is a bit softer, maybe more for blues, and Jazz

  • imay get the vox for christmas...

  • there is a difference, but i think they are very similar

  • does anyone know the name of the song played at the beggining of the video?

    thanks

  • The cry baby sounds like it adds some gain.

  • Hes like wearing snakes 0.0

  • Dont buy the vox, ive tried it and it degrades after a while and it also doesn't work with any adapter ive tried, with the right amps and everything and it still wont work. you're better off buying the cry baby

  • @Cyanide5151 I've had it for over a year and it works perfectly. If adapters fail the 9 volt battery is incredibly easy to install and mine hasn't anyway.

  • cool pedals! JUST orderd the Vox V847 pedal!

  • i just got a vox847 true bypass mod with an led light for 40$ off ebay. its amazing. I will never put up with a pedal without an led!

  • The crybaby quacks too much. The vox sounds much, much better

  • yeap, VOX

  • Jack Black Rockin' out in fuckin' SNAKESKIN cowboy boots! Hell Yeah!

  • i like your boots. thanks for the review. vox wah rules.

  • Crybaby by Dunlop is a great pedal.

My original wah demo record was in 1967 for Vox

I modified my pedal using a volume pedal for the original Vox demo - sounds great

Please listen to my record from 1967. I composed original music and played all the guitar and bass parts with my drummer Jimmy in my garage studio.

Thanks to everyone who plays the wah with great music. We changed the world of music for guitarists.

    Best,

Del Casher, pls see more delcasher youtube

  • @delcasher holy crap you're del casher. you invented the wah-wah pedal

  • @delcasher It's great to find you here. I've checked some of your recordings; it's awesome. Thanks for inventing this amazing effect.

Since you're an expert on the subject, I was wondering what would be the greatest Wah Wah pedal you would recommend? I'm about to buy a new one and it would be awesome to have your advice.

    Thanks.

    Best,

    Ben

  • hey, can somebody tell me the name of song playing at the intro?

    thanks

  • The Cry baby sounds a bit clearer, while the VOX sounds kinda muddy. The VOX looks cooler, though.

  • actually that wah sound, sounds like a jaguar xD

  • I WANT THOSE SHOES!

  • gearmanndude makes the BEST demo vids and has the coolest jack black vioce....well done germanndude !!! :-D

  • I know that the cry baby can't be powered by a boss power supply, but can the vox v847 be power by one?

  • @godzilla964 = I power my crybaby with a boss power supply..

  • @alfalfasprout69 What boss power supply do you use? I have a boss psa-120s, and that dosen't work with the crybaby because the plug can't go all the way into the jack.

  • @godzilla964 = PSA-240.. hmm.. i see what you mean now... do you know how to use a soldering iron, you could get a longer 2.1mm plug and replace it?

  • @alfalfasprout69 what is a soldering iron, and what is it used for.

  • @godzilla964 I don't think that can help because the AC adapter jack in my crybaby is broken. I just have to throw away my crybaby and get a new wah, and i'm interested in the v847.

  • VOX :)))

  • the vox is smoother the cry baby has more wa it is more pronounced

  • cry baby standar is better than original cry baby

  • VOX is smoother, Crybaby spicier....id go with the VOX since it doesnt really have that crackly sound wich i dislike...

  • Man those boots look like cobras lurking under your jeans :D

  • the Vox is wayy cleaner bro

  • I'd go with the VOX.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... Why Vox ? I want to buy a wah pedal but don't know witch one ?

  • Not a big difference but i think the vox has better sound..

  • Gotta love the white coily cable

  • I meant joe satriani and Paul Gilbert my B

  • @CptCippe thanx I will look into the crybabys and will the wah also be good for paul Gilbert and buckethead type stuff as well

  • Even though a lot of my favorite guitar players use the Vox pedal, I am a Crybaby guy. The Vox is really mellow and subdued, but the Crybaby is a little bit more gritty and in-your-face. They each use the same circuit, so they sound very similar. They can each be customized to sound the same changing an inductor and a resistor or two. I am a rock guy. Whenever I break out my wah, you better be ready. It is always loud and with distortion. The Crybaby is a perfect fit for me.

  • Love gearmanndude's vids and shoes :D

  • good shoes!

  • THEY ARE THE SAME PEDAL! ITS ONLY THE HOUSING AND NAME THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!

  • I like the vox

  • iits pronounced shhhhney-blay

  • I got a question if I get a vox wah can u use it for metal also and for buckethead stuff and for rage against the machine?

  • @metallicafreak131 metal not really, I don't think any of these two... Rage Against The Machine maybe... The Vox works for grunge, that I can tell you, but it is his limit I believe... Great wah though, prefer him over the cry baby

  • i didn't know jack black made pedal reviews......

  • What intro song is the intro?

  • Vox all the way!!!

  • the dunlop crybaby is better for rock, Vox is better for funk.

  • They are very similar, but not in price.

  • @jonhypiraguista its only like a 20 dollar difference

  • @jonhypiraguista haha no you are all wrong ;D the dunlop has true bypass :D

  • @Guitar8870 Finally I bought the Vox and it sounds really good. I didnt know the Cry Baby had true by pass...

  • @jonhypiraguista hahaha yeah i know i am about to buy the vox to i was just teasing a little with you, but anyway cant you show ur pedal and tell me how it is . . . . i really wanna know m8 ;D

  • @Guitar8870 I can´t record a vid now, but I have a cover of sweet child o´mine, and I use the pedal in the cover. You won´t see the pedal, but how it sounds...yes

  • its boomhauer in real life

  • SHOW YOUR FACE JACK BLACK!!!!

  • @Dids271 what the hell?!?!?! sounds like him, and an SG? just like school of rock! those were the days

  • @Dids271 QUIT BEING UNORIGINAL

  • @Jst0911 good call lol. I just wanted to see if I could get a lot of likes.

  • Crybaby for 1 reason...

Zakk Wylde uses one... plain and simple

  • @Evilsator ...how is that a good reason? Hendrix used a Vox wah, and he was way better-and more influential-than Wylde.

  • @thisismynamehahaha well that was his influence not mine :/ i get style from my influence not my influence's influence. Still i gotta thank my influence's influence for influencing my influence. But i still am influenced by my influence and my influence only... OMG!

  • @Evilsator But if your influence's influence influence's your influence, your influence's influence is-ergo- your influence. influence.

  • @thisismynamehahaha well played ;)

  • @Evilsator You have been a worthy adversary!

  • @Evilsator victim of endorsement alert! every wah sounds the effing same, if a company paid you to play their wah's you'd do too, hell i'd wear dunlop t shirts and dunlop caps everyday, id tell my children to kiss dunlop good night, id drive a dunlop car and go to a dunlop bar, just keep those cheques coming! " Dunlop 8:13

  • Well It's a close one. I am going to go with..... both!

  • im gonna get the vox for two reasons:

    1. jimi hendrix used a vox

    2. jimmy page used a vox

  • With the CC on, the wah said Homework :)

  • I have the signature slash wah, great wah, but I'm buying a vox wah for my gigging pedalboard, I can't deal with the shame of using somebody else's tone live.

  • Hahaha... On 3:58 Turn On CC (Closed Caption) and Translate the Audio!!!

"Or karo aur har or or or or hahahaha role"

  • okay mr. jack black, im gonna have to take that guitar.... that jaguar... oh and the boots can come too. see ya in your next movie !

  • why dont you switch them on together??? lol

    ;D

  • @buffalo4321able that would create a black hole!!!

  • Thats it. Vox wins. hands down

  • VOX FOR FENDER I THINK ...NICE BOOTS

  • nice boots

  • Yes, the Vox sounds more crisp, but as a Vox V847 owner, I found that it can sometimes have a real shrill sound sometimes, which I don't like.

  • Yup-the Vox is just a bit more crisp......

  • VOX crealry sounds superior!!!

  • I like the Vox because of it's range.

  • vox sounds better ant it'smore vocal on clean and lower gain while the cry baby is more present and sounds better on crunch/higher gain settings..therefore the dunlop wins for me.

  • is there any way to customized the vox

  • Vox Has A Clean Sound. N, Cry baby's Slightly Has Some Wet Sound...

  • I would get the vox, but when I use it a plumber knocks at my door and asks to fix my washing machine...

  • love gearmandudes reviews... but will the vox work with a one spot power supply? i know the cry baby will

  • Comment removed

  • VOX IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

  • @lk0056 Originally they were both made by the same company.

  • does anybody knows the average price for a Crybaby?

  • @SimMegamanKewi . Well its depends where your buying one but on guitar centers web site the range of dunlop crybabys the price ranges from about $100-$150... And the vox this guy is using is around $70-$80..

  • The vox bit better!!!!

  • get a vox until your famous enough to get your own signature crybaby

  • Picked up the Vox, very happy with it.

  • The vox has a cleaner sound

  • crybaby sounds loud and range level from bass to hight its bigger, anyway when you beat rude the two pedals seems like the vox sounds much better...

  • did Somebody realize that he has the Jack Black voice???????

  • @dyamis Have you not realised that everyone says that. Its started to f**king piss me off now.

  • the Vox sounds awesome. I am wondering though what the difference is between the Vox V847 and the cheaper V845...

  • i have the cry baby but i think the vox its better...

  • VOX has more articulation ,,, Hendrix did some smooth talk with it . I have a real Mc Coy .

  • VOX has more articulation ,,, Hendrix did some smooth talk with it .
