Hey, those purple things are from "Night Of The Living Tentacle" Which was a point and click game like Sam & Max made by Lucas Art

Actually they where first in Maniac Mansion, a point & Click on the NES. They got a sequel to Maniac Mansion centred around them called "Day of the Tentacle" and then made a cameo in ZAMN.
