  • I kinda think it really doesn't matter who sings it the bottom line is surely the same - if you feel it it's real. Isn't that the point of such an emotional heart wrenching song? I come back to this version time and time again when I feel the need, though any version makes me cry every time!

  • I wanted you all to know I am from the U.S. because we didn't get to listen to Billy Fury or Lonnie Donegan (except for My Chewing Gum Loses It's Flavor) until youtube, so you should appreciate that you got to listen and see these awesome talents which we were denied because some stuffed shirt record executive didn't think it would sell here, how wrong they were. Lonnie would have sold millions here during the Folk Music craze and Billy would have rivaled Elvis. U were lucky (u still are)

  • Anything Billy sang was great. Why do you need to compare singers? While listening to Billy (one of my favorites of all time) I don't think "gee Lonnie was better". I like both and I believe Lonnie Donegan did the ultimate version of this song but I also realize that when this was done by Billy (or the Beatles or any other UK singer) that it was a tribute to Lonnie because he was the inspiration for so many. Why do you think John Lennon had a skiffle group? I am from the U.S.

    R.I.P Billy

  • Candie , it is a very nice version , but it's still Lonnie for me ....have a listen and see what you think.
