  • Dacannon, you need learn more deeply. Because why did American soldiers didn't POW deaf Germans in Berlin at near end of war also no journal report of day about fighting deaf German soldiers? They was unarmed at this time and American soldiers executed them on walls. You know its illegal.and disorder the command you know WWII Veterans could have been arrested for not follow rule book. Guess what deaf military will happen in few years then keep your opnion disclosure.

  • You Sould check with "Hitler finds out soldiers became deaf" on YouTube. maybe sounds match ur story?

  • i trying join Army and navy they say no i can't allow it . maybe someday i will join army , i not give up try again again go join army or navy

  • @wilknosn2008 Agree! I want to be in army, but they don't allowed it so I decided to become Model instead.

  • It's great story John... World need know that deaf did their service is to save the world.. Hearing just try cover the history from deaf... They must have proof and they need stop discrimination on deaf people want to serve in military branches they are same as hearing no matter what...

  • deaf have made it !!!!!!!!

  • (cont.) Most of deaf used home sign. So how can north and south deaf be able to communicate?

  • Okay, I have heard of the story something like that. The truth about WW 2 that Nazi have use deaf people to a front line in the war. (to get rid of deaf people) It wasnt "Honor" but more of "slave". You know how Nazi treated handicap & jewish. Its not well known history. During Civil War,ANYBODY can join military whatever they want to, young to old, dump to smart, no matter what. I recalled the history that deaf people was to put asylum & there werent even sign lang invent yet till mid 1800's.

  • that somalia incident is not applicable because the soldier was not deaf when he went into the combat zone. he lost his hearing during combat and if they could have they would have pulled him out of the battle zone but they weren't able to. watch black hawk down and you'll see that the guy gets his squad mate killed because he can't hear him tell him to cover him! that's why you can't be in the military. sorry. life's not fair, grow up and get over it

  • I disagreed with u.. Deaf not just blind.. Deaf has good eyes and feel floor and air easy pay attention.. when Hearing shout out loud says incoming!!! then Axis Enemies heard u then ur dead... If deaf is quiet and sign says incoming without voice then have chance kills them without voice to surprise them with big actions.

  • @Alanvillani2004 if their already shooting artillery at you then they already know you're there! how are you gonna use a radio? war is loud, our training is loud. we scream at each other all the time because there are freakin guns going off and it's freakin loud! how are you not getting this concept?

  • here's what i want you to do. take 12 people and walk around in the forest for a few days with people shooting at you and randomly start trying to tell the other 12 people who are spread out at least 100 meters around you from one end to the other, that there is incoming artillery. if you can't communicate that to every member of your squad within 2 seconds, congrats, you're all dead.

  • each person should be at least 10 meters apart to minimize casualties and oh yeah, should be facing out away from the center of the formation to be scanning for targets! no one in a squad is looking at each other when they're patrolling! you have no chance, you will all die if you were in combat!

  • ! i used to have a lot of respect for deaf people because of how well many of the deaf people ive met deal with their situation but talking to you people and seeing how whiny you are has really changed my perspective. i guess those few individuals were the exception

  • now ur just wrong and hearing is loud mouth says incoming and axis enemies already heard u... Deaf not need voice they used sign languages with quiet sounds than u think have to shout and u fail the mission...

  • no no no, you're wrong again, you shout incoming so that everyone in the squad knows to hit the deck and then you shout the direction and the distance that everyone should go to get out of the incoming artillery. you're spread out when you're in combat, not all bunched up. it would take too long to use signs to communicate. the enemy's already shooting at you, they know you're there so your argument that shouting would get you killed is just wrong. once again, life's not fair, grow up

  • YEAH! DEAF POWER!!!

  • yeah i heard that story from my teacher's assistant

  • im not sure if the civil war one he spoke of was true. but there were indeed deaf soldiers during the 1861 - 1865 conflict. due to the technology they had back then. soldiers would go deaf and continue to fight. another one is during the 1993 somolia incident, where one soldier blew out his ear drum and was deaf and kept fighting until they were rescued.

so the idea that people with hearing aids being disqualified, is kinda stupid.

    story of deaf smith ??

  • dude you vp-200 have missed call :D

  • John, this is based on a true story - I met a girl who knew me from my old classmate in the Philippines. Her husband who was from North or South Korea (i didn't remember which one). He shared his experiences about being in a war with me and won't visit there ever again due to his horrible obsession at random. He who is being well-known as a deaf person, but doesn't feel like hearing about his horrible life during that time of that war. wow!

  • I remember I met deaf man from Isreal at NTID in around 1985. We were student at the time. He told me about in Isreal still very few deaf isreal soldier there....

  • (Pt 2) Without Ersatz (spell?) Smith, a deaf spy for Sam Houston, then Mexicans probably could win the Mexican War. He learned from Mexicans that lot of them will come to bridge and very possibly win the war. He informed Sam of that. He helped Texans winning the war! He's famous, but it's hard to find info about him on web as if they want to lose the war. Deaf Smith County, Texas has unfortunately nuclear plant. Laurent Clerc and even Gallaudet Univ. aren't included in Webster dictionary.

  • I don't know why someone have hard time to believe it. To me, it's very possible. My ex-friend, who was deaf, played paint gun with a large group, who were all hearing. He was the last person and won the game. He hid at base of large tree covered with leaves. I'm one of the best player at Team Fortress 2 popular multiplayer game. Millions play there. Why? We have higher spatial skills is possibly the reason.

  • Oh yea, I have heard about that story from ASL video that I saw several years ago but I am appreciated that you said that you aren't sure if it's a true story or whether not. It's very sticky and hard-to-believe. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow interesting.. would like to know if this story is true. One of my old friend told me a true story about deaf US soilders long long long time ago.. they allowed deaf to join army then somehow all deaf troopers got killed fast then US add the law to not allow deaf to join army. That what my friend told me. I tried to research it to see if the story is true but found nothing.

  • That I heard few before but it is possible. I think hearing people fear don't want put deaf people in history. I guess.

  • HaHa I havent heard that story but it's funny though =)

  • I like your T-Shirt.
