@amerboy37 = yes that is right, he should get a Honor by the FAI this Oktober for over 4500 hrs. successful flights! At Oktober 07.2010.
Guenter Zimmer – one of the most famous pilots in the world flying helicopter pilotage. His remarkable performances with his own MD-500 helicopter full of most complicated elements were always highly respected by professionals and amazed by spectators.
Pilots do not die, they just pass away to the sky and do not come back. Immortal memory to Guenter!”
It's an illusion due to the frame rate of the camera. Notice how all helicopter videos on here look different rotor wise, because the camera recording quality defines what it will look like. In person it would look like it does at around 0:30, though much faster.
A few weeks ago, i met the Pilot again. He is in an age of 60 years approx. At this day (Video) it was windy and he stops his flight for a waiting position. In the meantime we see a AT6 with an also spectacular aerobatic flight.
I hate to think it..But this looks like the 500 that exploded when it hit the ground doing a loop at an airshow..The video is here on youtube.

ya, makes the helicopter look like its hanging by a string or something
theblueteam10 2 years ago
Sorry ichbindran, but:
How can you say is't windy..!
There is not any wind, look at the people, no noise in the mike from the wind etc.
He's pulling to hard in the collective and not in control with the pedals, look at the "dance" in the air.
Just a bad take off and that's it.

What happened....why did he end up returning so quickly after takeoff...mechanical problems? BTW, great video - thanks for sharing!
pbarc552 3 years ago
I think that is where he stations the aircraft when he is not using it
firedept35 3 years ago
No, the pilot is going for a waiting position.
He will start a few minutes after to a spectacular acrobatic flight. The pilot shows torques and Loopings with this Hughes 500.
But sorry, i haven't any videos from this acrobatic flight, because the battery is going low. Damned. :-)
ichbindran 3 years ago
Is he drunk or something..He could barely hold a hover, how could he perform acrobatics.?
motokid032 3 years ago
Google for "Hughes 500 Günther Zimmer" then you will see that he has won any prices for the aerobatic flights.
