  • My wife is Akha from the mountains of Chiang Rai (Changwat). I´m sooooo loving it up there.

I guess i´m the only man in the world who actually yearns to visit his in-laws:)

  • I was lucky to live with the Akha for a few days. There was this lady with a guitar that would sing this song daily. I really liked the song =)

  • very nice ; )

  • Their front skirt, skirt, and the coins is similar to Hmong costumes.

  • Who was gonna oppose Mao right? Also, I think the Hans are tired of fighting Yao-Zu peoples. We are stubborn hard headed ass PitBulls. They call us Dogs. They're still mad our Warrior King Pan Wang took their King's head 2000 yrs ago.

And yes, we are children of the Blue Wolf from the Mongolian Steppes. Our stories say our original stock, child, we were raised from and lived with Wolves. Talk about some crazy cavemen huh? Sitting in Caves in the Norse Mountains suckling from a Wolf's Teet was I

  • O yea, a Yao General was Mao Zedong's body guard and the Yaos of Southern China were instrumental in Mao's plight in the very beginning stages. His home base. That General representing the Yaos asked Mao for autonomous rule in Yao lands in the Mountains and a bill immediately was past with no nays in their house.

  • However, the PRC, since the last 60 years have made strides in treating all Chinese Citizens with equality. Some groups like the Yao of Yunan and Gaung Xi, yes my group, we got special treatment and self local autonomous rule. Lately it's actually fashionable and cool to be a Maio or Yao Decent from the mountains. Better water, healthier life style, lighter skin and prettier girls says the rich businessmen.

  • Actually Akha are Han Chinese that rather live on the outskirts of main Han Civilization just like us Mien and Hmong People. We are rocky mountain hicks who practice Taoism and peace while the greedy Hans who don't care what God tells them have suppressed all ethnic Minorities of China for Milleniums.

  • hey ho...Im from Germany and i like this style of music...come on ! :o)

  • i have a lot of hilltribe art! and i love it!

  • Very peaceful song and video.

  • I have a lahu and mien friend. One time I went to my mien friend's house and her parents knew a little bit Hmong because they kind of understood some of the words that I spoke in Hmong. =)

  • there are many akha people live near my home in fang

very nice polite people :):) very peacful

  • The Akha language doesn't have a script, so are the Thai subtitles a transliteration of the Akha words, or is this song actually in the Thai language?

  • How old is this song? is this part of traditional thai music if so why is the instrument playing in western key and scales? If anyone could answer my confusing questions that would be grand :D

  • @tonyevans90 this is a song sung in akha which are an ethnic people who resides in the mountainous regions of northern thailand and also in southern china, myanmar , and laos. also check out all the other hill tribes in thaland too.

  • I'm too lazy to translate the whole thing, but the song is basically about this girl who had a boyfriend that said he'd love her forever. But then he left her so she's sad.
