and i disagree. sure the older snl was a lot better, but i mean the new SNL isn't bad. its a different kind of comedy. the newer generation likes it, the older classic SNL watchers don't. isn't that the way it is for everything like movies, music, especially music. its just a lot different.
the best SNL cast as follows in my opinion,Dennis Miller,Phil Hartman,Mike Myers,Dana Carvey,Jon Lovitz,Nora Dunn,Jan Hooks,Victoria Jackson..still decent with the next batch of Sandler,Farley,Spade..the show has tanked ass for the past 10 years
Given that drug use was heavily promoted and condoned during the first years of snl, do you feel responsibile in part for the drug related deaths that occurred, especially to those younger victims who watched and loved the show?
You can guarantee one thing about SNL, people will say "It sucks now, it was better 5 years ago and 10 years ago it was great!" They will say this till the end of time no matter the year.
Lorne Michaels is an old jewish man who lives in the 80s, comedy wise.
He is so sad, so unhip. And old. Give us back our farm report at 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays! The farm report has more wit and intelligence than Saturday Night Dead.
SNL has had it's good and bad seasons, but, recent years have been just atrocious. The performers are very talented but the writing is just so non-sensical. Does everything have to be about politics today?
I miss the old Dana Carvey,David Spade,Norm Macdonald days.
Well the best stuff is the Weekend Update and political sketch. It's great that more people are watching the news and when the news gets crazy it can be made fun of.
Go back to the Beginning...Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, John Belushi and all of those. That is what I remember as the BEST. I guess every Group after that had it's Fans. To me the First was the BEST.
Jimmy Fallon was quite popular, many believed that he and Horatio Sanz were far too derivative of Farley and Sandler, from Sanz's constant bumbling right down to Fallon playing the guitar and singing during Weekend Update. Both were criticized for laughing through their lines. This became more common, in spite of the fact that Lorne Michaels swore his show would never become amateurish like The Carol Burnett Show
Lorne Michaels is my greatest idol ever.................ever. EVER.
If he said he was the second coming of Jesus, I'd believe it.

Lorne Michaels was formerly named Lorne Sipowicz. Cast members keep saying Sipowitz wans to become Britishized.
How bizarre, this WASP wannabe.
