  • Earth might be fair, and all men glad and wise,

    Age after age their tragic empires rise;

Built while they dream, and in that dreaming weep,

Would man but wake from out his haunted sleep,

Earth might be fair, and all men glad and wise.

  • Simply put, this is the reason I keep coming back. Hauntingly beautiful lyrics, heartfelt emotion, powerful voice. Love it.

I would really enjoy playing this song. If you would post the chords and tuning, I would appreciate it very much.

    Best wishes from Michigan.

  • hey thanks for your comment and for the sub!!

tuning is standard, I think I used a capo on 1

    chords in the chorus

    Em, G, Am

in the verses it is basically (relative to capo)

    000000 pick 2nd and 6th together then 3rd string

    300000 same

500550 pick (6th and 3rd strings together then 2nd) then a run down 5th to third to open frets on second string then 3rd string then second again)

hope that makes sense and thanks again

    joe

    Amy McCann

  • 'Beautiful, sad, and disturbing, all at once.'

I cant stop hearing this song in my head.

    Thanks for posting Joe.

Yes I agree with gabrielangello, I also think it's as good as Hallelujah, maybe even deeper because of the christian hellfire/repent/damnation elements. And for such a difficult subject matter you've managed to weave lyrics, melody and vocals along with your 'always great guitar' to melt into a solid, perfect composition. It's disturbing, but great. Nick Drake would love

    this' !

  • thanks .. perhaps he's listening somewhere!! ;)

    best wishes

    joe

  • Your definately a composer 'extraordinaire'.

Still cant believe no major talent scout or Label has picked you up yet.

This song is one of the best 5 original songs

that I've heard anywhere this year and I listen to alot of original music of all types

of generes. Maybe not Merlin, but definately

Shakespeare/dylan reborn. This song has a psychological/metaphysical effect on me the more that I listen to it. Probably because of

    the book of Revelation+Nostradamus prophecies!

    10stars Joe.

  • thanks! I think the subject matter for this one is pretty powerful by itself! my best wishes and thanks as always!

    joe

  • Joe, great job. I like the vocal effects you threw on here, sounds like a reverb. I do hear some major drums and guitars in the background, you could even throw some strings.

    5 stars.

  • "It takes a rare song to water my eyes - but

this is such a Deep, beautiful, well composed

song, AS GOOD AS LEONARD COHENS 'HALLELUJAH' and I'm sure that Mr Cohen and even Mr Dylan would be Fans of yours Joe if they Listened to

this 'Amazing Song'! You obviously read alot about many different topics - but I wouldn't have imagined you composing a song on this subject! The melody, vocals, Lyrics, guitar work,- all add up to MAGIC. I love this and 'The Moon in the Room'. Your Merlin Reborn" !

  • thanks so much, what a great compliment - I don't quite know what to say! except thanks again!! :)

  • thanks, currently looking at options for recording - might be able to borrow one to make an ep/demo

    all the best

  • I'm interested, as a Christian, as to how you got the inspiration for this song. was it from seeing a preacher on TV or something else? Dunno, it's cool stuff.

  • I originally became interested in the concept of the rapture after watching a doco called 'the doomsday code' which I am posting a link to in the video description section. narrated by the wonderful tony robinson (aka baldric from blackadder) if you have ever seen that great tv show!! thanks for watching!!

    all the best
