  • This sounds exactly like an issue I had with a WD Protege (see my video response) a while back.

  • The arm sounds like its hitting the disc holder.

  • What is that sound? What is hitting/scraping/mangling/warping/ what? Sounds like data is being forcibly removed from the drive as I watch...!

  • The sound is the arm slamming against the stop in the actuator assembly.

This usually follows from a head crash or servo trouble.

  • A read Disk error , anyone know the meaning?

    isitz harddrives gone crazy?

  • drives that sound like that are annoying. i know its crashed tho.

  • harddrives suck i use floppy disks..

  • hahahahahha, a floppy is only 1.44MB

  • @cutmullets good luck installing windows 7 on your 60,000 floppies! please insert disk # 10,423 then press enter to continue

  • This happend in my modded Xbox. I sent it back under warenty and got a replacement for free.

  • You can get an RMA replacement or send it to a data recovery company where they can fix it and save your data. That particular clicking isn't a catastrophic head crash.

  • had the same thing happen to my brand new Samsung HD that I got from ebay after a power surge and all you have to do is contact WD to get an RMA and get a replacement.
