My son is a reader too. He has the ability to decode words without comprehension. We are also trying to use reading as a way to teach him new skills. Unfortunately his attention is not as good as Lewis (as seen on this video). How old is Lewis?
Lewis will be 9 this August. Lewis finds it really hard to pay attention to what we ask him and to string his own sentences together. Using text as prompts as in my other video has helped him so much. We also get him to build sentences with word cards to increase length of his sentences

You might want to try Sing, Spell, Read & Write, parents have had success with that program because of the music, it helps the brain.
