@MrThor0312 The platform is resting on the "lip" on the top of the tank. It just rests secured on top of the tank. When covering your tank don't take any risks because ur turtles have their entire lives to figure out how to break it. Where there's a will there's a way and once they find a potential escape point they'll spend all day trying to get out.
@ItsMeGillian Turtles have lungs and breathe air so if they're trapped underwater too long they will drown. I've heard of a few horror stories where turtles were trapped underneath large decorative pieces and dying.
@BAREFOOTPOOKY From the top down fluval bio rings, azoo bio media, fluval bio rings, and fluval ammonia remover. Probably not the best set up but if you have some recommendations then I'd love to hear it.
@WoWmasterArnark Glass is expensive, plus the labour cost and profit margins. You're paying for the convenience basically. I got mine used with the stand for $90 which is cheaper than the cost of the glass.
@OzzkkaaR1 Thanks for the comment. As long as the turtles can dry themselves off then it's fine. In the wild turtles bask on rocks and dead wood not grass so I don't need grass. I'm currently running a Fluval 405 canister filter on my tank but I would recommend something much stronger.
@mu1479 I've heard a lot of different things and I'm not quite sure which one is true. This is what I've heard. Always have a piece of cuttlebone floating, once in a while, and I've also heard that only females need it. I would recommend what the other guy said and that's once every 2 months or so. Make sure you have UVB lighting so your turtles can metabolise the calcium.
My female turtle is just like yours, shes all agressive and tries to bite my finger, but my male is always chilled lol.I had a bare tank too,but i put sand in and they both enjoy digging in it.
judging from the long claws and long fat tails i have a pair of males in a 55 gallon setup with a diy basking area very similar to yours, do you think i should upgrade to a bigger tank? they are both at least 4 inches long
@adee900 For sure. If I were you I would try to upgrade to at least a 90 gallon tank or larger. That way you won't have to upgrade again for the rest of their lives.
@iwishicouldb How big is your tank? I haven't used a U series before but I do have a few of the predecessors. I would not recommend it as a primary filter. In my opinion it's a back up/emergency or temporary filter. It's way too underpowered to handle the waste produced by a turtle.
Their claws are so long.....

Why is there no gravel or plants?
dave8594 2 weeks ago
@dave8594 If I did my female will destroy everything in seconds so to save myself from a potential nightmare I keep it bare.

I can't believe your stand hasn't collapsed yet. It looks way to small for a 90 gallon tank.
meteordealer 6 months ago
@meteordealer Maybe it's the video but the stand fits the 90 perfectly. Hopefully it doesn't blow up on me.

Nice tank man. Bit like mine. Buy I do have something in the tank for the turtle to explore. Put a ceramic pot in or something just keeps them busy
