  • argerich was looking at kissin at the last second at 0:33. How cute... it was almost as if she was saying... "wait, why did you add that my dear kissin?"

  • are they lovers?

  • COOOOL!

  • This is the best thing ever. Ever.

  • Natalie portman can't make Lucas' scripts not suck, and these two can't make this song not suck.

  • @hymnofashes Ha!

  • Lindooooo!!!

  • 0:31 is a really amazing example of their careful listening and coordination.. so sly, exactly together. :) This cute rendition just goes to show... less is more.

  • thx

  • REINA DE ARGENTINA!!!!!!!..... GRACIAS!!!!, por dejarme poder dedicar tu feliz cumple...Te quierooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

  • Look. At those big. Beautiful hands.

  • Two of my favorite pianists....

  • wtf/

  • classic is not jazz or impro as we can see lol ^^

  • @v4liumfrance maybe thats what you are seeing here.....a short while with lets say a Beethoven or a Bach and u'd see very different...

otherwise listen to some peoples cadenzas on youtube...classical improv is great..

  • shes trying to joke with him and hes so serious!!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.Heheheheheheheheheh.GGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD

  • No doubt played for the b-day of Rostropovich; I can't understand the devotion of so many top flight musicians to this ego maniac among musicians---he may have been a great cellist, but not a particularly good conductor (ask any member of Washington DC's NSO)

  • @Malcolm64 Maybe they liked him because he was a nice person. And the cellist part alone should be enough.

  • @Malcolm64 Egomaniac? You met him?

  • @Wolfsrain90 No, I haven't; but again have heard this from people who played under him during his tenure at the NSO.

  • @Malcolm64 Perhaps. But it's unfair to judge character by word-of-mouth alone. And the man is dead, after all.

  • THAT is how I want to be "sung" happy birthday.

  • Kissin coming in Serbia on Nov 13! :D cant waitttt! :)

  • Argerich, by her words, does not feel at all comfortable improvising in public. She says she does it alone at home.

  • Love this video. Two of my favorite pianists.

  • Kissin's face just screams, "Lemme play this woman!"

  • This is ADORABLE!!!!!

  • I bet Kissin is hard as marble. I know I would be playing 4 hands with a Goddess.

  • a part in the beginning is missing :'(

  • bull shit

  • very touch~

  • Argenich is a living legend and Kissin is natural pure talent!!!!

  • Lol, thanks. I don't think age difference is always a bad thing. When I am older I would prefer to marry a woman older than me (20 years older at the max, 3 years older at the minimum) because they are more mature (and experienced!) than younger women. But if they are 30 something or more years older....then yuck!

  • Hi Andrew, I'm speaking from experiance, the difference in age can be an advantage in a relationship. Except for those who want to have kids of course :-)

    Nice post btw!

  • is argerich a PUMA? heheheh

  • @cirosuperiore Hehehe...

  • Lovely. :)

    When/where is this from?

Don't think I've ever heard Happy Birthday played so beautifully in my life. Two of my favourite musicians ever!

  • it's sweet:)

    kissin looks shy lol

  • never been so close to a girl before ahah jk

  • lololol

  • lol.

umm, guys...... argerich is nearly seventy. and kissin is in his early thirties. yes i think they are quite friendly around each other, but stop saying stuff like "oh, they are so gorgeous together" and "oh, they are so cute". the age difference is way too large for them to be a couple, so quit matchmaking! although I do think that, if argerich and kissin were born at around the same time, they would make an adorable couple.

anyway, a, sensitive, gentle, soothing performance. 5 stars!

  • wow, thats a zero. sorry

  • What nice man is Kissin!!!

I like you so much Kissin!!!

  • Thank you very, very much dear Friends, Argerich and Kissin.

    Davide Anzaghi

  • haha cute

  • 0:24 like Chopin!!!!

  • Sweetness

  • whos b-day?

  • the Birthday of Volodymyr Samiylovich Horovyts

  • haha, very lovely. Funny how Martha is looking over and reading what's on the wall :P

  • whoever spamed this comment should be shot

    thank you, Foodmore

  • Sweet Martha!

  • the vid aint interesting...however the comments are ;)

  • WTF

  • Volodos and Lugansky are in the same age group, but to me, Kissin is the greatest of his generation. And Martha of hers!

  • Martha must be a great person, she seems very sweet towards her protegés. Pogo, Kissin, Tiempo, etc.

  • EVERYONE IS A CRITIC

  • Kissin and Argerich clearly lack the technique to play that song. Maybe one day...

  • hahahaha

  • lmao hahahaha nice one! hahaha

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!!

  • Yeah, a little more practice will be helpful... XD

  • elicgt --just a question --can you play like kissin or martha --so shut up!!!!

  • U never understand jokes, don't u?

  • One would say, "Kissin is so lucky and Argerich is so lucky." The former is true, by all means.

  • no.

  • he might wanted to say "wordless" :P

  • I really wonder what they would sound like if they try to seriously improvise...

  • hahahaha this video is DA BEST

  • They are so cute together ^^

  • timeless, beautiful

  • Many geniuses have historically had messed up hair. Beethoven, the greatest composer there was. Outside of music look at Einstein.

  • Maybe the stress of learning some of those pieces makes their hair look like that. Lol

  • I was thinking of that, too. Very funny. (')

  • AHAHAHAA

  • so cuteeee

    love it!

  • omg my favorite pianists

  • hahahahaha great!!

  • Just beautiful.

  • it's awesome to see these two maestro pianists freely playing casual music and having fun. the way they communicate to each other wordlessly reminds me the fact that music is kind of like a language that everybody understands and appreciates. I think this was the way Liszt and Chopin played together on a single piano.

  • argerich's 30 years older than kissin

  • It also cannot go unremarked that as with Argerich and Kissin, Liszt was attractive and cosmetically acceptable hair, whereas Chopin, incontrovertibly, had funny hair.

  • they're just goofing off and having fun. after all, they're people just like us too.

  • Well they're not exactly like us. Argerishs metabolism is silocone based, and she exhales nitrogen. She may even be a republican.

And Kissin, if the rumors are to be believed, has funny hair.

  • jaja ^^

  • is that really them

  • i completely agree with you snerets123, these great musicians are having fun, and nobody is allowed to speak so vulgarly about them, I think the ones who try to criticize these geniuses are the unhappy ones who die with jealousy and faced the fact that they are losers

  • Two things; Why is everyone obsessed with identifying mistakes? Do they feel inadequate?

And Why are so many of you quite violent in your opinions? Few of you have anything to say worth reading. It's quite sad that a majority of people who bother to respond, do so only to demonstrate their bruised egos; I bet they're failed students.

  • would love to play the piano with either of them:) to bad i cant play the piano, i can always listen though.

  • i love kissin's hair :P

  • Look, I don't think they tought like "omg omg! Lets make the best improvisation ever!" When they did this, so stop say they canät improvise. I'm sure both of them do that very well. Kissin even composed own pieces when he was a kid. Everything doesn't have to be difficult and fast do be good. I thought it was a bit fun to see two of todays best pianist play something as simple as that.

  • Very artistic "happy birthday", love it!

  • Martha Argirich...........cor, the original MILF hey;-)

Admit it. You would wouldn't you?

  • I sure would

  • old Martha exercising her feminine wiles... nice

  • "Wtf"?

You seem to say this almost as though it were violently incongruous for a great pianist to be ugly, and are outraged at having your expectation so harshly confounded.

If you would prefer to hear a young and attractive pianist of mediocre talent, I suggest you listen to Alicia Keys.

Not that it matters, but Ms. Argerich, if you haven't noticed, appears to be in her sixties, and when young was quite beautiful.

You sir, are a first-order pinhead.

  • She was a hottie in her day.

  • @vysehrad Kissin was never hot

  • @vysehrad For her age, she still is!

  • @vysehrad Was a hottie? Martha is still an incredibly sexy woman, even with all that wild gray hair.

  • @vysehrad HE's pretty. Very lovely..

  • @vysehrad

    She's STILL a hottie!!!!!THE Hottest!

  • @sunidak I was just thinking the same! Great minds ... :)

  • You, paganiniGOGO, are more than a first-order pinhead, more like a first-order asswipe. But I commend you for your extremely well-spoken manner.

  • Why thank you. I'll leave it at that, although I continue to maintain that I'm not a first-order pinhead.

  • am just saying thats its kinda sad that he level of talent in improvsiving is going down in current pianists. i mean gould coulf improvise and so could anton rubenstien and hell even horowitz.......

  • OH shut up....

  • This gentleman speaks the truth

  • thank u chartontown!

  • beautiful....I think that it is an homagge to the so dear Rostropovich!

  • Priceless...

  • It makes me me smile alot

    =)

  • hasta las melodias mas sencillas y cotidianas las transforma en una obra maestra... No se puede creer!!!! Martha sos sin duda la mejor!!!! Incomparable esta mujer...

  • how charming!

  • so sweet=)

  • It'd better be improv, though, or else...

  • I think its strange to see them playing jazz, compared to the usual Liszt or Chopin! Its nice!

  • so sweet! :-)

  • GOD! Shut up people! It's his friggin birthday! Let them enjoy it! They're having fun! And it's quite beautiful!

    Have some spirit!

  • exactly nothing more fun to watch than kings and queens of the piano having a little fun. some of yall people didn't follow me... but wateva ^_^...

  • I don't know about "their ignorance of how music truely works has now been revealed!!!!!"... I thought it sounded great and quite "charming", mellow, and good timing for others to jump in; However, I don't think I heard anything repeated to make up for anything... But I was hoping I would see there hands do backflips on the piano and battle eachother for king of the mountain but... I guess that shows how dumb I really am. Right joseph? naw jks Jo u alright u alright.

  • Sorry, didn't mean to spoil your enjoyment of this clip. I'm afraid I find it embarrassing, but will learn to button it next time, so as not to spoil it for others!

  • aw naw, you put it in a good way.

We were all thinking it the moment we first watched it the couple times, I believe. And don't see how you could spoil it like that. but I got to admit the first moment I watched it, I didn't was kinda worried with the terbcleff being the main melody with little back-up but the more I listen the more I realize this is jazzy/blue stuff -_-...

  • A natural understanding of harmony and an ability to improvise with another person are two completely different things. In fact, a deep understanding of music, natural or not, is more likely to make improvisation with another person DIFFICULT rather than easy, because there will be an inclination to disregard formulaic, memorized solutions. The reason jazz is so numbingly dull is because it's the same thing over and over again - it's easy to improvise if you don't CREATE anything.

  • ytpiano7

Her behaviour is plenty of sillyness in

recent years ? Kindly expl.if you can -thx. (P.S.not a Martha fan)

  • these great pianist can play any style of music i even heard some blues in this lil ditty they did

  • Martha=the besttttttt!!!!!!!Only you!

  • Kissin ''is not a great artist any more'' ??????? Are you insane??

  • Or maybe you are just plain deaf

  • YTPIANO7... NO COMMENT HERE, DEAR!

  • A really stupid comment. Trying to put the others down so that "our" artist looks better is for childish...

  • Hahaha, what a stupid person you are. Go away from music!!! you are stupidly dangerous!!!! hahahaha

  • Argerich has proved herself time and time again. she seems to be having fun here which is what's really important!
