I am born & raised in Durham. I was around 17 when crack first hit the Bull City. Durham at that time was way fucked up than it is now, and we didn't even have gangs. We could see a murder everyday over the summer late 80s early 90s. I used to be proud that my city was "hard and tough" but I was young and dumb. As far as Durham goes, I think the real problem with it is its leadership. It used to be a good old boy, white dominated town, but now it's filled with corruption from all sides. If Durham could get rid of some of the leeches that are running the city and get honest people in it would be a great place to live.
