nancy, and everyone else, democrats and everyone else want terrorists to be spied on. even before bush broke the law, the cia could intercept and tap phones without a warrant and then apply for one retroactively. the bushies want to remove the oversight, the warrants (which are approved 99% of the time)
Ok. Here is my input on this. First off, this video was not based off it's actual production but in fact it's political message. If one is looking for the worst ad ever then they should look towards production or the actual portrayal of the message. Not the actual message itself. This in fact was an exceptional ad. It serves it's purpose which most private ads don't even come close to doing now days. So just because you don't like the message does NOT mean that the actual ad itself is bad.
The fact is simple, spying is bullshit and you know you wouldnt like it to happen to you in any way. And as for this commercial, more politial backstabbing as usual. NEXT? *Walks to another video*
Just for the record (and to point out the unabashed mendacity of this ad): Under the existing law the government doesn't have to wait for a warrant. They can begin eavesdropping immediately and file for a warrant after the fact.
The government can begin spying immediately in emergency situations and has 72 hours to apply for a warrant. The FISA court has historically denied an incredibly small percentage of the warrants filed, and once a warrant is issued any evidence gained is admissible in court.
beause all the cool kids are doing it and you don't feel like thinking for yourself?
automatically calling everyone who disagrees with you stupid doesn't sound very open-minded to me... to put things bluntly, you are a hypocrite, and it's people like you who give intelligent liberals a bad name.
you kidding? a lot of us are born and raised democrats and not cause all the cool kids are doing it! utututube has an opinion that democrats rock and i don't agree that republicans are stupid people but LOOK AT BUSH FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!
I, however, choose to judge people based upon the content of their individual character rather than, say, their party affiliation, the color of their skin, their gender, sexual preferences, culture,a single representative, etc.
Making any sort of blanket statement about a group of people is wrong.
People have the right to voice opinions, but if those opinions are ignorant and hypocritical, then others have the right to respond negatively to them.
Content of their individual character is ALL I judge people by. I have not judged anyone by anything else such as race or sexual orientation. I also made no unfair statement about a group. By putting down Bush, am I putting down John McCain, a great war hero, Abraham Lincoln, one of our greatest presidents, my mother's whole side of our family, and half of America? I might be a democrat, but all you did was put down OUR group of people by saying "we're just following the cool kids." Unfair!
You should note that I never claimed all of us democrats are bandwagoneers. Nor did I disagreed with you, or insult half your family. The comments that you pointed out were my response to this statement:
"stupid people = republicans
lies on "vote for" commercials = republicans
see why i'm a democrat?"
My statements were in context to that person's reply, Mr. u8Lard, not yours. You seem like a level-headed person, but i think you are trying to speak for someone who is not.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What is so important that you have to keep secret salvo? Are you planning on funding terrorists cells or co-ordinating one of their attacks? Or both? Something illegal to hide, I knew it.
Hey Republican Nancy Johnson who approves that message, the message that shows how plain dumb she is. The FISA laws actually lets the President do the paperwork AFTER the wiretapping in the case of there not being enough time to get the warrant approved before the eavesdropping. See, the President doesn't have to wait for the paper work, he just has to obey the law which is what Murphy believes, apparently you do no believe in the laws of the land.
Typical ploy to keep people worried about boogeymen and distracted from the _real_ problems facing the US such as Congressmen who are beholden to insurance and drug companies.
this woman, a senior United States Congresswoman, is going on the television airwaves to claim that asking our president to simply get a warrant AFTER he's already wiretapped a phone as the law requires would slow down the government's ability to wiretap terrorists' phones.
Let me repeat that because its so unbelievable: this woman, a senior United States Congresswoman, is going on the television airwaves to claim that asking our president to simply get a warrant AFTER he's already wiretapped a phone as the law requires would slow down the government's ability to wiretap terrorists' phones.
There have been a lot dishonest political ads floating out there these days, but this one takes the cake. Connecticut Rep. Nancy Johnson (R) claims that her opponent's demand that President Bush obtain FISA search warrants after he's already wiretapped phones as the law requires would somehow slow down the ability of the government to stop a terrorist attack.
Wow- after what happened in Times Square the other day, this ad actually looks prophetic now, instead of pathetic.
