  • Killing someone with a gun is way too easy., just pulling the trigger sums it up...

but whats difficult is living the rest of your days with it...sleeping only to be hunted even in your dreams... in the end.., the conscience and guilt makes you think to die along the rest of your victims.

  • Trigun: The story of a true pacifist who understands that "he does not believe who does not live according to his belief." Even when forced to do that which is contrary to what he knows is right, Vash decides to do perhaps even something harder than killing Legato which is so perfectly defined by the episode that follows this one's title -- "Live Through." Vash lives through the tragedy in the face of his toughest adversity.... and kicks Knives' ass. May we all do the same to our own "Knives."

  • Legato's voice in the dub is perfect for his character.

  • @Varbess the funnier thing is that is the same voice actor that did Kurama for YuYu Hakusho

  • Head shot.

  • And thus Vash lost his virginity kill to Legato...

  • I miss Trigun... No, I miss when anime use to be about the characters and story. Now a days it's mostly garbage.

  • @ShrabsterJoe Don't you mean like all old movies, games, shows, etc? The world today has very little creativity. To much reliance on technology to do the work for them. Its sad.

  • @FatalEditz Yes, that's exactly what I mean, but I was trying to forget... Now I'm more depressed about the current state of media...

  • @ShrabsterJoe Its ok we all are, we just dont admit it and try to forget. (sigh)

  • somebody knows the name of the song? ya know the sweet guitar that plays?

  • @85000 It's called "Sandy Planet" from the Trigun OST

  • Is legato shadow the hedgehog from SA2 battle?

  • I remember watching this a couple years ago. I remember thinking how much I loved the show, and what a funny little scatter brain Vash was. THEN I realized that he was fuckin' powerful as hell.

    Blow my damn mind.

  • May seem odd but i respect Legato for his honest death, he wanted to let go of the things he did wrong in his "pathetic life"

  • @theow95 looked like he just wanted to bitch slap all of vash's ideals, and kill him from the inside lol

  • I am Legato, that I am...

  • I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE WATCHED THIS IN DUB!!!

  • Guys does it really matter if the anime is same as to the manga. Look at Trigun and FMA. I feel they both stand on there own just fine. Yes they may not have everything exactly like the original author wrote but the directors make sure that the source material gives justice to the series. They make sure the characters are fleshed out and likable and make it enjoyable for any audience. I say enjoy as it is and appreciate the work directors put into this.

  • This video is more like "Legato kills Vash...on the inside"

  • Sometimes, you really don't have a choice.

  • Anyone else say "Finally." at this scene?

    No? Alright then. lol

  • Richard Cansino is great as Legato. As a matter of fact, he's ALWAYS great as twisted/crazy villain characters (Vega in the Street Fighter anime and Alfred Ashford frm RE: Darkside Chronicles come to mind also).

  • So the real question here is, did Legato make Vash shoot him with his powers, or did Vash do it voluntarily because he had no choice?

It's little things like this that make the scene special.

  • @KarasawaL30 No, Vash under his own free will kills Legato. That was Legato's entire point, to force Vash into a position where the pacifist could not make any other choice but to pull the trigger. It was either kill Legato or watch his friends die and Vash, with no other option, pulls the trigger.

That's the entire point of the scene, to show that as much as Vash may want to hold on to those pure desires of his, in the end one day he'll have to kill for real.

  • This scene should be entitled Legato wins

  • Wonder on how yasuhiro's new manga is doing. Blood Blockade Battlefront.

  • ignore that comment. Meant to say name of the song/background music used in :10-1:52.Please and thank you.

  • name of the song while this video began, please.

  • love this show .. ive seen both dubbed and sub i prefer sub this scene seemed so much more "epic" subbed i think the script was different probably why it came off as more "epic"

  • saddest moment in trigun .. besides rem's story

  • I am legato, that i am, that i am.

lol kenshin you cant fool me with your fancy Stu Pickles hair dye.

  • @bigcheesy95 Lol this made my life

  • Legato was ridiculously powerful for a human, how is it that hes able to control people?

  • @IWhoCreate he was implanted with a WHOLE bunch of dangerous tech and enhancements by Knives that changed him to the point of being more of a walking abomination than man

  • @IWhoCreate that was a power Vash originally had, but he lost it when Knives blew his arm off, that arm was then attached to Legato, who gained the power to control people

  • @IWhoCreate i dont believe he was human. he never said he was. i think he was like vash and knives

  • @cameforthevids Legato is human, Vash and Knives are Plants. In the anime, Legato's powers stems from Vash's stolen arm that Legato grafted onto himself. In the manga, his powers comes from thousands of microfilaments that he personally inserted into his oblongata. While extremely powerful and possessing near superhuman like abilities, he is still a human.

  • @ReroOnyx oh :) i forget about his arm! i just thought he had all this power so he couldn't be human but what you said explains it all. thanks for all the details i really do love this show but i've never read the manga or any manga for that matter :\

    thanks again

  • @cameforthevids Although I do like the anime, it really isn't all that. It's decent at best, but as usual the origina manga is much better. If you liked the Trigun Anime you'd enjoy the manga because it's basically the same thing but with better story and characters to it.

  • @ReroOnyx I am definitely going to have to read it!

  • @cameforthevids You should probably know that the manga is broken into two series (Trigun) and (Trigun:Maxium) There are 3 volumes for Trigun and if memory serves correct, 15 volumes for Maximum. Trigun is a Shounen but becomes a Seinen manga during Maximum (Although its defintely one of the lighter Seinen mangas about there.

  • @cameforthevids im pretty sure he says a bunch of times that he was a pathetic human who didnt deserve to live thats why he let Vash kill him

  • I like how Legato was just looking up at Vash with that smile. His eyes really show his painful side.

  • basically no matter what Vash lost and Legato won.

  • anyone know where you can read the manga?

  • Where can I get Legato's jacket?

  • Legato won.... soz vash

  • Legato won....

  • @Ifrit42

He didn't win, he died, Vash was crushed for a bit, but.....if we watch the rest we see that he failed.

  • @Usul573 well i have watched it many times and im not implying that vash should have died or anything ... im saying that someone convinced him to kill... and someone broke his ideals into pieces calmly.......so i think that he lost against legato.... but he won knives... oh and Vash is my favourite anime character aout of the hundreds of animes i have watched

  • @Ifrit42

Just feels like he was convinced to kill once, under horrible circumstances to save life, broke his ideals and he lost, but he only lost and truly suffered for a while. Sometimes you have to go above your principles to preserve them like I said I feel. He can't beat himself up too much over this..........

  • Kenshin Himura just mind raped Ichigo Kurosaki. There is something incredibly awesome about that

  • Comment removed

  • @Inuyashagirl234 Yea man! Such irony that Legato and Kenshin have the same voice. Richard Cansino's voice is so nostalgic, I love when I randomly come across his voice in anime. I wish he had more leads!

  • @Inuyashagirl234 No, No even better Himura Kenshin just mind raped Lelouch Via Britanna

  • I'll always love this series! this scene was really deep and moving.I really wish they would make anime series like this today instead of f bunch of moe/fanservice type shit..

  • I love legato! his backstory was immensely tragic though...

  • @th3azscorpio i know what you mean, you can almost understand his point of view after finding out his backstory

  • @flynntheman90 yeah, he's one of my favorite anime/manga villains, and I feel he's the only one that truly fufilled his purpose as the villain....

  • @th3azscorpio You're right there, he well and truly beat vash, and did more damage to him than even Knives could manage, I feel sorry for him though, all that brutality shaping him into what he was, and in the end he got a bullet in the head, just like he always wanted

  • @flynntheman90 very well said... I also think he was the greater villian than knives and all he ever truly longed for was death, to put an end to his eternal suffering..

  • Easily the most depressing part of the series in my opinion

  • I just got done watching Badlands Rumble. It was shit. Not the good kind. The bad kind of shit.

  • @BreaktheChainsofFate

yea, the ideas and philsophy and storylining was all scraped for the movie. the creator said the director and him wanted an movie anyone could jump into and enjoy even without the tv show.

bad idea tho. it was just an action movie, but trigun is more more MUCH MORE then that to me then action. its a philsophy

  • @lovetownsend May everyone involved with that piece of shit rot in Hell for a day

  • I just got done watching Badlands Rumble. It was shit. Not the good kind. The bad kind of shit.

  • Legato failed lol we all know he was shiting his pants begging he wouldnt pull the tigger lol

  • @Kamorok Get out

  • Anyone who will end their own life to make someone suffer forever is a badass.

  • I can't help but love this scene

  • fuck legato

  • @DoubleAgent244 So do you hate him? I'm not surprised.

  • evangelion scene much?

  • Such pointless arguments there are in the comment section. Trying to understand such an easy anime with complex arguments about facts that are actually IN the series.

  • :'(

  • I cried so hard at the this scene when I saw it...I love this anime :D

  • one of the best sceans ever.....

  • legato sounds like kenshin himura :)

  • @kochiyose12 thats the same person who voices him!

  • vash lol

  • what song is this??? anyone please!!!!

  • @EricElMaestro SAdy planet, now stop freaking out like a bitch.

  • @EricElMaestro The first song is Sandy Planet, and the second song is Lost Planet.

  • @EricElMaestro If you look it up on the sound track I believe it is called Lost Planet.

  • so did vash pull the triger, or did legato use his powers to make him do it?

  • @the7deadlyhomunculi1

Vash pulled the trigger and killed Legato. If Legato made Vash pull the trigger, then Vash wouldn't suffer eternal pain. Knives wanted Vash to experience eternal pain and suffering by making him kill and going against his beliefs and Rem. That's why Legato was literally pulling out all the stops to make Vash kill him.

  • @job489

He failed though ultimately, Vash didn't suffer eternal pain, the ticket to the future, going above your beliefs to protect them sometimes, damn Legato was sick, he accomplished nothing.

  • @Usul573

And Legato wouldn't give a crap.

  • Legato is beyond emo. XD

If he truly was as egocentric as he claims to be, he would have rejected the very notion of having a master. He reminds me of Psycho-Doughboy from Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

  • @IggyHazard I'm gonna have to disagree. It's not "emo" if you have a good reason to be depressed (being a former sex slave is pretty fucking heavy). As for Knives being Legato's master. He did follow his orders but the way he did things was his own way. He enjoyed causing misery to every human being. Besides, Knives wouldn't have made it without Legato. Sure he was the Leader, but without Legato, Knives wouldn't have become as powerful.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 I was thinking more because of his hairdo.

    \8-P

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 not really. before Legato existed Knives has the ability to wipe out an human population with the guns he created. Legato was just used to screw with Vash

  • @CampinCarl354 What I meant was that Knives NEEDED Legato. He needed for him to control the Guns members, and he needed Legato to make Vash come to him. Legato didn't need to serve anyone, but he does anyway in order to fuck with humanity, which actually makes him more evil than Knives.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 you gotta remember that Legato was part of the Gun Ho Guns. If he disobeyed an order or if he failed to complete a mission, Knives would have him killed. Whos more evil than Knives, a person who wants to get rid of the human race, make Vash suffer, and would have Gung Ho Gun members killed off

  • @CampinCarl354 Knives hates humanity because they treated him bad, he's afraid of them and wants to see them exterminated. Legato on the other hand, hates humanity because of his experiences as a sex slave. He is ordered to kill, but he revels in torturing, mutilating and devastating his victims. Knives doesn't come close to his depth of depravity. That alone makes him more evil in my book.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 sex slave? i dont remember hearing that

  • @CampinCarl354 Manga.

  • @IggyHazard You can have a master and still be Egocentric, if you have ever played the game Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, there is a guy on there named Nash who is egocentric, and he still has a master.

  • @Pharphain That just seems hypocritical to me. The whole master-slave relationship is based on servile self-sacrifice and petty altruism. It's a social structure that appeals only to worthless weaklings (whether they're master or slave). It's basically sadomasochism as an ideology. Sadomasochism is the essence of altruism.

  • Everyone is complaining about the one dislike, so that one Dislike is saying

Dislike: So do you hate me...?

  • Legato, u remind me of so many people in the tempest of history.. even the greatest light, must bear upon a truth, a simple truth, that even the smallest light, can create a shadow.. though it is forlorn, the journey of man, is utterly meaningless.. without mistakes..

  • Vash disliked this video

  • 1 person wants to be like Legato... dead.

  • @Firan25: Legato can control peoples psyche. He can control normal humans actions and thoughts, and he is making the towns people act that way.

  • i'm confused...why are those...-townspeople i'm assuming- beating the crap out of those girls and being complete douchebags?

  • My Heart Just Died When Legato Died D:

  • It was so hard for me to watch Legato most of the time, because the same VA was the one who voices Kenshin.... You see Legato who kills people...but I think of Kenshin.... >.>

  • why is there an argument about fullmetal alchemist on a trigun video?

  • Full Metal Alchemist > Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

  • Legatos outfit kinda reminds me of Ky kiske (or the other way around)

  • .45 Long Colt

  • This is probably the best portrayal of a villain taking advantage of a protagonist's inner-conflict I have ever seen in Anime. Hell, it's definitely movie material.

  • Nobody and I mean nobody will ever be as good at breaking someones mentally as Legato Bluesummers my most fav villain out of anything he truly broke Vash

"I understand master Vash the stampede will experience eternal pain and suffering"

  • Very sad, although Legato was proving a very important point to Vash; it's impossible to save everyone. He would need to know this if he was to fight his brother on equal terms.

  • .45 long...

  • Okay who else is happy that Trigun got great voice actors for Legato and Vash?

Watching it in japanese and then english, i almost like the english version better : 3

  • Vash disliked this.

  • The irony, Legato died and in the end he was the victor.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666

The irony is that both Vash and Wolfwood embraced the other philosophy and paid a high price for it. Wolfwood paid when he left someone alive in the previous episode. In this scene Vash was left dead inside when he thought there were no other options.

  • @Nyeons Yeah, it's true. In the end I am referring at the fact that Legato pretty much got exactly what he wanted. Let's face it, it's the ultimate way to destroy a person inside in anime history. He owned Vash by pretty much making him go against his philosophy. Legato's goal was to make Vash feel eternal pain and suffering, and now Vash has to live with the fact that he shot a man in the head point blank.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666

    Temporally I'd argue, he failed.

  • @Usul573 True, but he is still affected if you see the new manga. Vash believed that he would keep Rem's memory alive if he kept his promise never to kill anyone. In other words Legato pretty much took the only thing that Vash remembers about Rem and destroyed it completely.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666

Eh, at least in the anime, the way he's happy in the last episode and remembers back to Rem, doesn't seem that way.

I need to read the manga though.

  • Vash just killed Legato. I saw him do it.

  • They're not hypnotised. Legato told them Vash destroyed the city. Because he could produce an atomic bomb.

  • LEGATO WIN

  • What's the song that plays after Sandy Planet?

  • is the guy who voices legato also voice kenshin?

  • @SirRapful yes

  • This actually brought a tiny tear to me.... the music makes it much much more sad

  • @1jonoo i totally agree.. the music adds that touch

  • @1jonoo My eyes got a little watery too, this is deep stuff and the music just added to it. I liked Trigun when I first saw the series in 2003, but I really appreciate it more now that I'm older and watching it back.. This is more a fight between 2 ideologies than it is between 2 men. Powerful scene from a great anime.

  • I've remembered this scene ever since I first saw it and am glad to see it still has as much power now as it did then.

  • Trigun is awesome. It's sucks so bad that it only had 26 episodes..

  • @Triforce9426 and a moive this summer

  • @whisperinthewind9292 A trigun movie THIS summer? As in Summer of 2011?! That's badass.

  • @Pharphain Its out right now dont know if its dubbed right now

  • @Pharphain I've already seen it, but with subtitles.

  • I understand.....Master..... Vash will experience eternal pain and suffering......

  • "We should died a very long time ago you and I. The instant we fell upon this sandy land without pain and without sorrow."

  • Besides, he had more of a backstory and personality in the manga and was FAR cooler as a villian. I used to like the anime then I saw the manga, I guess in a small way I like his death still in the anime. So yeah, Capstain259. I just want a new anime. it'd be more intense. honestly, this was during Yasuhiro Nightow's revamping of the story while they finished his original. His masterpiece was finished in 2008 and started in 1995, while the anime was made in 1996.

  • THIS IS RELIGION VERSUS ATHEISM DEBATE REPRESENTATION

  • @alangname lol not even close

  • T_T

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Nevermind....Sandy Planet.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Legato just bitch slapped Vash's beliefs

  • Damn do I wish I came up with this kind of scene in my novel first. It's epic & one of a kind.

Good job to the writers of Trigun.

  • ...perfer Brotherhood, it is certainly cooler and epic, even some of the character devolpment is better, i just myself perfer the more laid back, human feeling of the original, just my taste. i do agree with you, having two different versions is nothing but awesome, but as i said, the issue is the people who act like there are not two, that the first should just be thrown away. by the way, i wasn't accusing you of being a raging fanboy, i just wanted to clear it up that i'm not one.

  • not sure which made me sader, vash finally taking a life or how little meaning legatos life has to himself.

  • Just the sound of the shot @ the end is enough to shake you to the core

  • This is a masterpiece. It takes a really special show to make you shed tears or even feel something at all over the death of a heartless villain.

  • TT_TT This scene struck the same chord with me as the end of Cowboy Bebop...dammit...

  • johnny young bosh played the black power ranger in the original power rangers, lelouch from code geass, nero from DMC 4,and Ichigo Kurosaki from bleach

  • im shocked this isnt an AMV. AMVs ruin the show for me

  • he sounds like nero from DMC

  • @naded117

Same voice actor. He's also Lelouch from Code Geass

  • i try to be like vash when i play red dead redemption but killing edgar ross is like him and legato

  • Legato cry 3:00

  • this is hands down the best villain moment ever.

  • being what he is, vash's decision is a realization of the potential both he and humans possess, the gift of higher thinking allows you to observe things from an increasingly more understanding perspective. as you are able to explore greater alternatives, compromises and possess greater foresight, it soon falls into your hands how to deal with situations and ultimately the fates of other organisms. you can choose a myriad of fates ranging between destruction and preservation.

  • It really takes someone really scary who has the power to force you to kill him, especially when you are trying to live pacifist.

  • whats ep is this?

  • Thank god this isn't an AMV.

  • Does anybody know the storyline of how Knives and Logoto met?

  • @bobbyewing311 Read the manga ;)

  • Anybody remember that scene in Gungrave where Brandon tries to shoot Harry, but can't, then Harry goes to shoot him, and does?

Guess what that scene was inspired by.

  • @Momentum139 Yep. It's especially evident since both Gungrave and Trigun were created by Yasuhiro Nightow.

  • @HeatLegs, heh, my lack of manga knowledge strikes me once more.
