this "procedural" vote is just a matter of form; however, 97% of these votes turn into finished legislation! The Dems bought off Mary Landrieu (D-LA) with an addition to the bill providing a $100,000,000.00 Medicare exception because of Katrina. This will help insure her reelection. The Dems bought her vote with our taxpayers money! If they get the 60 votes needed then there is a 97% chance we will get Obamacare and national bankruptcy.

why not just admit sen conrad's 'contribution' to the HCR and let himself explain why his work totally failed.

Well, don't know which side of HCR you're on, but it wouldn't matter in this case -- we both agree that Conrad failed. From my perspective, he could've saved the senate finance committee a lotta time and just openly fondled the privates of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Dakota right there on C-SPAN.
