The "weirdness" comes from that fact that these buses have 5 cylinder engines rather than the 4 that's common on Enviro 200s & other small crap or the 6 that's common on an Omnilink's competitors & coaches. The Omnilinks are heaps of crap, we have these in Cork, Ireland and the Volvo B7RLEs on Wright bodies are so much better it's frightening(and the RLEs aren't as good as the B10BLEs or B10Ls). I'm very disappointed by how bad they are when you consider the Scania Irizar PB which is brilliant.

it has such a low idle. it changes gear at low revs too. so its burning less. optare excel's make weird noises too.
