You ignorant fool, don't you know white women say a similar thing about YOU when you're approaching them on the street? I'm sure your own Fox cronies make racial remarks about you when you aren't around. You dumb weak-kneed, shufflin', SHINE!
Islam is a cult created by a psychopath. It cannot be reformed. It must be eradicated. Islam must be eradicated not because the Quran says Earth is flat or the shooting stars are missiles that Allah fires at the Jinns who climb the heaven to eavesdrop on the conversation of the exalted assembly. These stupid tales could even amuse us. Islam must go because it teaches hate, it orders killing of non-Muslims, it denigrates women and it violates the human rights.
You left wingers just don't get it. He was being honest about certain situations in his life where old memories are drudged up. Like a Muslim in an airport. To you that may seem like bigotry. And maybe it is. But the larger point is that YOU DONT KNOW. You're ASSUMING it is bigotry.
NPR is unworthy of our tax dollars, viewership or support of any kind.
They are hypocrites!
To be fair and balanced, since the demise of Air America, where are these LIB's supposed to go? They can't compete in the free market place. Their pseudo-intellectual superiority can't attract a national audience without a handout from Uncle Sam.
NPR is simply the antiquated, uneducated, self-glorifying, stepchild of the airwaves. Without us, they'd be standing in the middle of the street, begging.
Political Correctness, like many things originated by the Left, started off for a good reason; an attempt to use social pressure to stop people from using openly racist terms. But, like so many things, the Left has ruined PC by pushing it to absurd extremes. PC is now nothing more that a tool used by Leftist bullies to stop ALL speech they don't like...primarily political speech. And oh the irony; the sanctimonious Left that claims they're so "tolerant"; except when it comes to politics.
Don't forget, taxpayers, you pay Vivian Schiller's salary, and have been paying the salaries of her liberal predecessors for years. Clearly, taxpayers do not get fair, unbiased reporting for their money. Oh, by the way, I feel the same way as Juan about those in Muslim garb when boarding. I suspect most who remember 9/11 feel this way also, unless they've been brainwashed by too much NPR.
Nina Totenberg did not say she " wished " anyone would get AIDS. What she said (and I just watched the clip) was in relation to Sen. Helms constant gay-bashing. The comment was that he better hope the Lord doesn't bring retributive justice his way or he or his grandkids would get AIDS. She was calling on Helms to reconsider his strong homophobic opinions because karma's a bitch. Plain & simple. Nice try though Juan.
@Jay20782 You're missing the point. Both sides say rude things and have some intolerant people. What grates in this case is the hypocrisy. You see, it's the Left that claims (and truly believes) to be so "tolerant" and the claim to be against name-calling and enraged cranks (like LImbaugh, etc.). And then the Left turns right around and does the same thing themselves...all the while denying that they're doing it.
@JohnR22926 No I got the point clearly sir. You are distorting the point, which is the problem with fingerpointing liberals and conservatives. All this left, right nonsense is just that, nonsense. The bottom line is Juan expressed his bigotry and did not speak to how he was/is trying to get over it. You don't start a comment with " I'm not a bigot " .. you start it with " I prejudge certain ppl ..... I know this is wrong. Please help me to not be this kind of American ". That starts dialogue.
@Jay20782 I still disagree. People that take your point of view accomplish NOTHING...except that you intimidate people into withholding their true feelings/opinions and spouting politically correct (but polite) lies. This breeds cynicism and disillusionment...it does NOT help to reduce bigotry. Juan expressed an honest opinion, and in no way implied that muslims are bad, or that anyone else SHOULD feel afraid of random muslims. PC police are moral bullies and are the REAL problem.
@JohnR22926 Of course he implied Muslims are bad. Again you are distorting the consequences of such speech. " I'm not a bigot but I gotta be honest when I see black men like Juan Williams I get nervous " . That kinda talk is counterproductive to unity. The bullies are those getting on national TV acting as if it's ok to spread their fear without acknowledging their wrong.
Juan it's not ok to look at every Muslim in garb as a terrorist, you may feel that way but as a commentator saying it over the air crosses a line because it excuses it and makes it alright to be that way. And NPR wasn't willing to back you after warning u several times. Sorry dude I like you for the most part but your wrong. Now your gonna wave the flag of righteousness at Fox and accuse NPR of bias......that's a friggen Joke. And your acting like a jilted girlfriend and a boob. Too bad.
I get scared when I see a muslim on a plane in garb......fuck your political correctness 3,000 died on 9-11 and i don't want to be one of them.....we shouldnt be searching grandma's at security checkpoints
@pennjersey83 so u and Juan are both Douchebags. Its not political correctness none of the 911 hijackers wore garb so what r u and Juan scared of. It's just irrational fear.....You can be vigilant and not be a total victim.....try it sometime.
you have no right to tell us who or what we should be scared of. Juan has a right to state that he is a little freaked out when he see's muslims boarding an airplane....millions of people feel the same way......it's not your right to tell us to stop feeling that way
@pennjersey83 I have the same speech rights Juan does but NPR has a right as well to protect it's interest and they chose to cut Juan loose because his views insulted needlessly millions of Muslim Americans who have nothing to do with terrorism. Political Correctness gets thrown around alot by the Right as an excuse for people to act badly. It's really just a simple business decision NPR made one and so did Fox. NPR got rid of a liability, and Fox gets to make it's case about liberal bias.
NPR receives public tax payer money...I don't support them stifling peoples feelings on issues....especially a feeling that resonates with millions of americans.....I dont want my tax dollars going to an orginization that doesnt support freedom of speech...NPR is a left wing talking head and recieves tax payer funds
@deceptikan NPR has kept people who have said far worse. Of course, Democrats get away with everything. THis is the party that open praised a Klansman.
@lapeppard, The most important minority is the individual. The idea of our nation was to provide protections of individual liberty. Political correctness, Freudo-Marxism, and Critical Theory intentionally erode this idea.
Juan, welcome back to the real world. Glad to have you, despite your left leaning views. The real world will be a better place for all of this and your future contributions.
Get fired from NPR, take 2 million from FOX, go on FOX and attack NPR. Can someone be anymore obvious about their bitterness?
Juan didn't say whether or not those other quotes were expressed on national news while acting as a representative for NPR like his were.
Also, he simply assumes that Schiller's comment about his "psychiatrist" was an insult, even in the legitimate context of how he should deal with his personal fears, and was also equated with "publicist."
"i wonder where are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton hiding?"
what does this have to do with them? You're saying Juan was fired because he was black? what evidence do you have of this? besides bitter juan playing the race card when it's advantageous
@Bleuski Your argument is weak and dismissive. Your argument whether "garb" is religious or non-religious is meritless. So when I see Muslims in "traditional religious garbs" burning American or other national flags, it's not intentionally racist?
If Juan said he felt uncomfortable with men dressed in KKK garb on an airplane, would NPR have grounds to fire him?
No, NPR has no grounds to fire Juan in the hypotehtical, just as in the actual matter at hand.
@218ismyIQ Nah, you're just generalizing about Muslims based on a tiny minority, which is exactly what Juan did. It wouldn't be prejudice in the case of the KKK since their inherently objectionable.
@Bleuski If there is 1.5 Billion Islamofacist, and 5% is the small minoritie of extremeists. WE ARE STILL TALKING 50 MILLION EXTREME ISLAMIST JIHADIST
@Bleuski Do you negate the fact that in the past 30 years the majoity of mass bombings and/or suicide bombings are initiated by acts of radical Muslims?
It's sad that people like yourself ignore the wars and conflicts committed by radical muslims in Sudan, Indonesia, Chechnya, Algeria, the Congo and the other 28 wars/conflicts throughout the world
You are a spoiled American who lives in a bubble, and it is shameful there are people like yourself who ignore reality outside of your bubble.
Well I find it funny how more and more blacks are becoming victoms to the liberal bullshit lately. I think I was right when I said that sooner or later, more blacks like me will come out and tell the country what liberals truly think of black people. And the psychonut progressives will have no choice but to come clean with it.
The "outside-the-box" independant black american is part of the reason this country will be saved.
Reporters and commentators at NPR can bash christains and conservatives and still keep their job.But they fire Juan Williams for a statement that most americans themselves agree with.Go figure. Now we know for sure any thing that doesn't line up with their communist ideas isn't tollerated.
@thoughtfinder The difference is that Christians are not a highly scrutinized minority in this country like Muslims are. The difference is that you need to go out and find an issue where you can pretend you are being persecuted so you can feel better about your self- there are people who are murdered for there religious beliefs; you are just completely worthless.

However, as a liberal I disagree with overzealous PC politce and Juan Williams being fired. Many liberals, contrary to what you say, are overly tolerant of muslim people who believe and do things contrary to liberal ideals, like equal rights and individual freedom.
