The conservative plan of opening competition across state lines, is a better way to keep insurance companies in line - not some childish power grab by a wannabe dictator like Obama.
I will agree that America need heath care reform. BUT, I will not agree that America needs universal health care. People need to learn how to take better care of their health. With the deficit , universal care is even less apealing.

I work hard to provide my family with top of the line health care, and once a public option is there, my provider WILL NOT be able to compete with it, thus driving my provider out of business. If you seriously look at 90% of the people that would get the public option, there is nothing wrong with them! There is nothing preventing them going out and getting a JOB!

Don't we technically have a form of healthcare already? Medicare allows someone who can't pay for help get some, so why do we "NEED" universal healthcare? Universal Healthcare will only raise the average American's taxes to an extremely high level and put EVERYONE in poverty. OH! but we'll still be able to get a shot once in a while.
Wrong. Medicaid is only offered to those who are living below the poverty line. It doesn't cover the 50 MILLION and growing who do not have healthcare, myself included. What should I do? Get a job? Most likely it won't pay for coverage and EVEN IF IT DID, insurance companies are STILL designed to FUNCTION by DENYING MEDICAL AID AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE, and therefore I still stand a chance of being told "NO" when I ask for chemo, even after all those years of paying premiums.

Of the 40,000 people in America who are dying every year without healthcare the mass majority of them are employed and HAVE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE! Only 18,000 die because they DON"T have coverage. The others die because the second they need money to get healthcare a company like Blue Cross Blue Shield refuses to cover them on different INSANE basis, like saying that a Kidney Transplant is an "experimental procedure" or even straight up DENYING that you are sick.

Mate, im british and we get FREE healthcare. Trust me its well worth every penny (or in your case cent) in taxes. Your government has more money per capita than we do in its yearly budget so I'm sure it could be afforded

Poland has one of the worst health care systems in the world. I believe we're last in Europe, maybe only surpassing Bulgaria, Romania and Albania. TRUST ME, it's DISGUSTING over here. I lived in Canada for 10 beautiful years and they (or should I say "we"? :)) have a great health care system. Very impressive. USA isn't that bad either, you're over exaggerating.

American healthcare: I went on a holiday to Florida. (I'm from Belfast, N.Ireland, UK.) and my mum took sick with sunstroke. We are really fucking lucky we had our travel insurance cuz the doctor was looking $200 just to come out to see her!
I am so glad I am covered by the NHS. My asthma has been bad for a few years now and the insurance for it would have been crippling. Technically though the NHS is not free because, pretty much, everyone has to pay some National Insurance. I would rather pay my National Insurance contributions than bleed myself silly with private medical insurance. Also it all goes towards paying for top quality nurses like me :)
I think it will appear eventually for the US, but most certainly not overnight.
Everyone needs to remember that yeah happy days were getting free health care, but believe it or not but a lot of doctors wont be happy about it. They will have to sign up to a National Health Service meaning their wages will drop like a stone, this will cause a lot of doctors to sign up as private doctors with their own practice.

feel free to go private, there is no shortage of private companys in the uk. I personally thank the NHS that has saved my life a couple of times and cured my mother of cancer. With operations and medications and twice yearly check ups that would cost a US citizen over $100,000.

Well, if someone is sick, the hospital takes care of them BEFORE paying a penny. I agree that doctor bills are extremely high, it once cost my family $750 bucks for a dental filling, but if everyone had universal healthcare, those who have paid for premium healthcare will just instantly lose it, and where will all the money for universal healthcare come from? Higher taxes? Some people will still be paying while others are not. Do you know how people have gotten rich? THEY HAVE WORKED HARD.

On topic: i do think that the american health care system is crappy and corrupted. in fact my grandfather was denied a simple machine that helped him breath while he slept. three days later he was moved to a hospital be cause he couldn't breathe. the bill ended up being bigger than the cost of the machine. he was blamed for tampering with the device....

the sad part is, i once saw a commercial on TV (in America) saying (and i'm paraphrasing) "Canada has government controlled healthcare." (which is obviously demoting government controlled healthcare) and "that if..." (supposedly a Canadian citizen) "...I did not come to America, then I would have been denied a vital surgery" (which, from what one can extrapolate, is a complete lie...) and, TKE, I agree that we need reform REALLY BADLY.

i think its funny, most people i know that hate the health care system we have now, do not work, and sit on there ass all day, or spend money on things they do not need and do not have money for thing they do need, i broke my leg, and had insurance though blue shield, i had insurance and guess what, no one tried to fuck me over, i know i am one out of a million that was so lucky, but hey that is my story, and guess what, life is hard, and nothing is free.

Of the 40,000 people in America who are dying every year without healthcare the mass majority of them are employed and HAVE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE! Only 18,000 die because they DON"T have coverage. The others die because the second they need money to get healthcare a company like Blue Cross Blue Shield refuses to cover them on different INSANE basis, like saying that a Kidney Transplant is an "experimental procedure" or even straight up DENYING that you are sick.

1st thnks for the reply, i've always liked your vids, like i said i am one of few that the system worked for, but as i said most do not work, and i know are not sick, and just want the benefit, that sounds crazy but there are some of do this, and i do know people that get Denied and most i know did not have it to begin with, then when they get sick want it, they have not paid in, should they get what other have paid for, just a question, i got it before i need it. i do think that we need reform

healthcare reform is needed however to fix it you dont fix it by trashing it and starting from scratch you fix the problems the bill in congress will ration care along with rediculous wait times for an appointment if it didnt it will crash quickly and nobody will have healthcare, nobody will be able to keep private insurance because all of the insurance companies will go bankrupt because you cant compete with the government, i look forward to hearing from you again, but on a different topic

Poland has one of the worst health care systems in the world. I believe we're last in Europe, maybe only surpassing Bulgaria, Romania and Albania. TRUST ME, it's DISGUSTING over here. I lived in Canada for 10 beautiful years and they (or should I say "we"? :)) have a great health care system. Very impressive. USA isn't that bad either, you're over exaggerating.

I am so glad I am covered by the NHS. My asthma has been bad for a few years now and the insurance for it would have been crippling. Technically though the NHS is not free because, pretty much, everyone has to pay some National Insurance. I would rather pay my National Insurance contributions than bleed myself silly with private medical insurance. Also it all goes towards paying for top quality nurses like me :)

I think it will appear eventually for the US, but most certainly not overnight.
Everyone needs to remember that yeah happy days were getting free health care, but believe it or not but a lot of doctors wont be happy about it. They will have to sign up to a National Health Service meaning their wages will drop like a stone, this will cause a lot of doctors to sign up as private doctors with their own practice.
Obama will have to be very careful, or the whole thing could fall

feel free to go private, there is no shortage of private companys in the uk. I personally thank the NHS that has saved my life a couple of times and cured my mother of cancer. With operations and medications and twice yearly check ups that would cost a US citizen over $100,000.

well do you not think its like that all round the world? the people who work in the hospital do the best for the money/personel they got. Really the NHS needs less admin staff and more frontline. I still rather have the NHS though then the US healthcare system or be in some 3rd world hospital. If it was the US your gran wouldnt have health insurance because shes old, then you would have to pay 10's of thousands of pounds. Then if you couldnt pay they would just patch her up and send her back out

That's because America is obsessed with their military and always seems to be freaked out about another terrorist attack which was about 8 years ago. If America sold their older jets (which are still better than most jets any other country has to offer) then they would make a bunch of money off it. But were already trillions of dollars in debt and the damage is done. Doing the health care plan would make us loose another couple billion dollars and sink us back into a recession. Sell the jets!

2) Even though the constitution promises us freedom of speech and the freedom to protest, often times the police will begin to illegally break up protests using frightfully brutal means. Are you aware of "Bloody Sunday?" It was a day during the civil rights movement where the police shot tear gas into crowds of peacefully assembled blacks, sprayed them with fire hoses, beat them with riot batons, and sicked dogs on them.

yes i have heard of bloody sunday (don't know much about it tough), there were 10-20 killed (i think). you can't stop after that. look up the revolution in hungary '56 - 2500 killed , romanian revolution '89 1100 killed. i know there were againts the comunists but still ... these events made us fight even harder if something is wrong. just a few that i remember and had happend recently : hungary budapest riots 2006 , france paris 2005 and 2006 , grece 2008.
