Well, the crooks are at it again! The corruption of the process was in full display as Reid brokered a deal in public to send 300 billion dollars of your tax money to Louisiana in exchange for the vote of Senator Mary Landrieu. Even the Washington Post was ashamed of the open corruption.
If the Democrats are going to require us to all go out and buy health insurance, then they're violating the 10th and 13th amendments of the US Constitution. The 13th, which prohibits involuntary servitude, is in direct contradiction to a federal gov't which seeks to force us into supporting an entire industry.
In protest, count me as one who will now refuse to purchase health insurance.
The Democrats are going to lose the House in next year's election.
80% of the people don't want a socialist government in control of our health or any other area of our lives, but these TRAITORS in $2,000.00 suits are ramming it down our throats anyway. We need to oust everyone of Obama's minions in 2012 and in between! If this plot to control our lives passes, you can forget about America and your Constitution. We will, and in many cases are already slaves to the "machine".
Im 30 years old, worked full time since I was 16 because of the death of my father. Ive never had or been able to afford medical insurance. Ive had a few emergencies in my lifetime, so I have thousands in debt from the ER.
My teeth are literally broken and falling out of my head. If a few millionaires have to pay higher taxes so I can afford to go to the doctor when I need to, so be it. THANK YOU OBAMA!!!!!
Don't get me wrong....I'm not against universal health care, I have medical bills piled up on me too, but what I'm saying is that nothing's free, and we'll end up paying for it the long run; one way or another.
Look, I hope that you receive healthcare! Hell, I hope that a doctor decides to help you under the table, regardless of insurance companies and governmental regulation (sorry, thats my American patriotism speaking out..) On the flip side though, I do not want healthcare right now... as foolish and ignorant as you may that, I have my reasons. I also do not think the gov should have my financial and medical records.. so no pub option for me. In that scenario, you believe I should be fined?
The problem is, there aren't enough millionaires to make a dent in the healthcare budget. I am sorry to hear about your dental issues. Hopefully you can find a dentist who's willing to make a payment arrangement with you. I found one. I was in a similar situation to yours. My income is very low, so I can't afford insurance, but under the circumstances I'd refuse to purchase it even if I could afford it. Forcing us to pay for health insurance is unconstitutional based on 10th/13th amendments.
And you can thank YOUR Repubs for all the watered down BS in the bill. The Dems did not want this in the bill.
The trick for teh Repubs is to make it so bad that if it passes, they can say later, "See, we told you so."
You keep protecting the party that could not give a damn about you. All they care about is the MILLIONS of dollars they get in campaign funds from the private health Ins. companies to get re-elected.
And also, while it's nice to see that you are not bothering to buy health insurance, let me remind you that its ppl like you who the rest of us end up paying for when you get in an accident and have a 6 figure health care bill and you file bankruptcy bcuz you cant afford it.
Then the rest of us have to pay for it. Bankruptcies are one of the leading reasons for the cost of health care.
Everyone (me included) are so jumpy about politics these days that we've becomed conditioned to seeing everything in terms of left vs. right rather than right vs. wrong.
...actually, its not for free. You will go to the doctor based off the hard work of others which are collectively taxed in order to help you, when they might need that money for themselves, or for a loved one. You do not care about hurting someone else though, as long as you get what you need. Thats the jist of what you just said. You also believe that I should be fined if I decide that I do not want healthcare... that is part of the bill you know. those of us who dont want insurance are fined.
Why would you not want health care? Are you a fool? And as for the hard work of others.....the only ones whom shall be paying extra taxes are single people making more than $500,000.00 per year and married couples making more than $1,000,000.00 per year. How hard do those people really work?????? You fucking TARD.
It looks like America is going to finally join the rest of the developed world and have a universal health care system. Such a system is the hallmark of any modern civilized society and it's long past due. Kudos the the AARP, the AMA, the American nurses Association, and others for supporting the Democratic House version of this bill. Thank God the right wing is losing this battle. America will be the better for it.
the senate needs to filibuster until the elections when the blue dogs can be voted out and then have the bill returned to the house to be looked at again.
I hope americans realize now this is why you don't give all the power to the democrat party. If mccain was pres. we wouldn't have to worry about all this shit in congress because in the end it would just get vetoed and flushed down the toilet.
take a gander and see your buffons in action they cant weait to get the fuk outta there.dont matter what the people want its wat the nigger and his cronies want.lets get rid of this disease once and for all.
H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax. [page 1]
The penalty:
• Section 7203 misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year
The "Public Option", is the track to complete government take over of health Ins., how can any company compete with the gov., which is not required to profit, and can operate at a deficit, as most gov. run systems. They can lower prices until all private health ins. co.'s are no longer in business, then dictate who, when, at what cost , what will be covered, and forced enrollment. The gov. runs the banks, fannie and freddie, G.M. and Chrysler, next the utilities, and redistribtion of wealth.
gemini067 under Obama's plan it not only dictate who, when, at what cost. but it stright up says everyome "shall" be enrolled into Obamacare by Y5(that's 5 years after the day it's signed into law).
so even if the insurance companies do make it for 5 years. It won't matter. by year 5 everyone will be forced onto the Obamacare plan. That's not choice, that's no option.
That's called communism. And these people are to damn dumb to see it OR they are communist themselves.
If you only knew how many people that don't believe in going to a doctor or spending money on healthcare all togather. Millions don't have healthcare, by choice. Millions do. There some that don't but could and don't have the money as there are those that do have the money but rather spend if on 1 or 2 vacations a year. or buy a home they can't afford.
And all without being taxed if they want it or not. But uder Obamacare you'll pay the tax if you want it or not.
so in other words, obamacare has nothing really to do with healthcare but just another tax the Dem's can throw on people to help bankrupty us.
I can afford my healthcare, the healthcare of Obama followers and house payments, car payments, food, gas.
with obamacare I would be forced into dropping the internet,my phone, do without power or gas. hell even the home. I'll be focred into asking Obama for money to live on.
fu&^k that shit I want to work for a living not off Obama.
10.2 percent unemployment along with $1.75 trillion budget deficit and a falling dollar and lawmakers are focused on health care coverage. Unbelievable.
... and their bill gets tacked on to the bills of people with healthcare. So we are already paying for them only in an inefficient way. If someone waits until a health problem is so bad that only the emergency room can take care of it, then the costs of care skyrocket.
This bill will cause healthcare to skyrocket and will be first step to a Gov. run system. I ask you the Government can't run anything. They have bankrupt SS and medicare. How do you think they would run a healthcare system with 300 million members? Medicare /medicaid is so poorly run now. It waste billions every year and 50% of Doctor won't take medicaid 30% won't take new medicare patients. Alot of hospitals won't take certain medicare alot more don't take medicaid.
Any legislation that is this unpopular and rammed downed the peoples throats is doomed for failure. There will be civil disobedience amongst Doctors who will refuse to see patients under the public option. Thats why the AMA endorsement is a joke. Civil obedience will then disintegrate into violent revolution. Do it right or dont do it at all.
I've been to a V.A Hospital and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. We need to say NO to this Gov. takeover. The Government can't even handle Social Security and Medicare. so how is it they'll handle something equally as large?
i actually read/hear a lot about people going to europe for better treatment. Over there, they are continuing to come up with experimental, but new medicines and treatments for diseases we can't combat here. True, universal healthcare can hurt progress of new medical milestones, but it by-passes the profit margins, where companies are more concerned more about their accounting books than what is actually produced.
We could have an even better system with some minor changes that both sides of the isle have agreed upon, but Dems are not willing to sacrifice what they're really after (single payer) to genuinely help people.
Yeap there are 20 million who want Insurance but can't afford it. Just allowing purchasing across State lines would give 17 million access to affordable care and drive cost down. A trillion dollar plan that still won't cover 20 million is crazy. 53 new Gov. agencies, thousand of new Gov. employees. A huge bureaucratic mess.
These comments typify "class warfare." I am not wealthy at all and I do not want a government run healthcare system in the US. I, like most Americans, am happy with my healthcare. Because of the system we currently have, we have the highest quality health care in the world. That's why people from many countries (including those with socialized medicine) come here for treatment. There is no healthcare utopia out there, but I believe our system works best.
Youre a blissful idiot. YOUR healthcare companies are now offering to send patients overseas, including paying airfare, to receive care in "socialized medicine" countries. Look it up.
"This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen in the 19 years that I've been here in Washington".
Really John? Is health care really that bad? The wealthy don't want to take any money out of their pockets to care for anybody but themselves. Of course.
Ever been to Germany or France? Free healthcare, strong unions, high pay, excellent quality of life, happy people. What's wrong with that? Who's happy in the US?
Who has free healthcare in the US? Who has excellent quality of life in the US?
Who has high pay in the US? WEALTHY REPUBLICANS. THAT'S who. And they DO NOT want you or I to have ANY of those things. Bottom LINE.
What difference does that make? Theyve sent out THOUSANDS of people to all the so called "community" meetings to cause disruption and thwart the discussions. Republican candidates receive MILLIONS in campaign contributions from the healthcare companies. WHY????????????????
jblcva Democrats need at least 60 votes. At this time they don't have them.
