  • Looks like you need to clean that pile of saw dust up ASAP.

  • Now thats how to get it done! i really like doing it yourself building your own processor looks like you could really do a lot of wood in a day!

  • That thing is sweet looks like a real cheap firewood processer. but looks like it does the job. Great video man. im 18 an i make a living on firewood an logging.

  • WOW, You thought that system out really well. Great job.

  • nice

  • dolmar 7900??

  • Nice setup :)

  • That poor Dolmar--- Talk about tied to the whipping post...

  • Your arm must get sore!

  • @4inches4u Still less sore tham doing it al by hand. ;)

  • is your conveyor a corn elevator? If so how does that work out? looks like it is working good.

  • Do you debark the logs?

  • right on.

  • i like the looks of that !

  • Lame construction, but does the work required..

  • 85000 dollars machine

  • @psking777

    85000$ or 8500$ ?

    Anyway too expensive for me...

  • Is there a stop on the conveyor for the large log or do you just do it by eye. that's about the only thing on the system that's puzzling me. thanks

  • do it by eye.

i put a paint mark on the table at the length i want. real world is when u get near the end of the log you can cheat one way or the other so you don't have stupid short log at the end.

  • Bet you sleep good at night.

  • what is your splitting cylinder rated for?

  • thats some damn good production for one person.. ya a lil fabrication and set up but once ya got it down its time to do some serious splittin. good work man.. get a second person and a cpl more saws set up for it then if a chain goes dull our run out of gas pop it out let someone get it ready again pop the new one in and cut away.. props man

  • Did the same 25 years ago. fun ;)

  • nice little setup ya got there

  • overclock that processor XD

  • you have hydraulics so why not put an hydraulic motor for the saw???

  • nice.

does it have some sort of stop on the pivot so if the saw kicks it won't kick back all the way into your body?

  • looks like u need one more person there splittin for ya

  • thats a nice system, looks like you sell the firewood. Thats the way to be if your running a buisness, quick but at the same time producing good quality cuts.

  • there is a quick release on the hinge system for the saw. it is a hitch pin, about 3 seconds to put it on or off.

then set the saw on the ground and fuel it like normal.

I've had a lot of private messages asking for the saw hinge system, so i'm selling those if you pm me.

  • hi/i m from russia/wanna build such tree table with a saw/i need full demensions/i ll pay/i wait u conditions/thank u/

  • to refuel it takes a 9/16 wrench and about half an hour to get it apart and back toghter

  • is there a quick disconnect on the chop saw, so you can refuel?

  • hell yeah thats the way to go

  • great job well done

  • good idea but the ruskies one that kicks ass too i have old wisconsin thd on mine it is a slow gas hog homebrew! what are you using for power?

  • if you cut your fingers off put them in a bag of frozen peas.

  • Not a bad setup, I like the method of cutting the logs to length & the 4 way splitter.

  • Is that a Dolmar 7900?

  • I wish I lived by you.

  • more pics at firewood processor us

  • how much would you charge for the plans and specs on your outfit

  • Sweet Redneck setup. I like the set up on the return of the spliter. Bet two People can really go through some cords.

  • What happens if you get your glove stuck between the push plate and the log? Can you get to the return control without chopping your hand off? ?

  • yes, you can easily reach the control valve while it is running

this splitter has a 30 inch stroke, so the control valve is a way back so it doesnt interfere.

The next one I build will be a 20 inch stroke, so the valve will be 10 inches closer.

  • wow that is a slick setup you have there. hats off to your creativeness. The only thing that seemed to be missing was the fridge full of ice cold smooth ones after your done.

  • have you tried this distance yet (26). also i wanted to ask is how big of a saw are you using cubic inch and cc. i got talking to alot of places that build these and they told me if the saw isnt big enough it cant cut the log off fast enough and wont drop straight. also keep in mind even the high dollar unit dont always drop straight. theres a guy about 15 miles from me that bought a used timberwolf with a diesel engine and his dont always drop straight. most of the time it does but notalways

  • that is my point. Only my system ALWAYS works.

Everything else requires you to shut the whole program down, dig out the sideways round, and restart.

I also think after a full day of cutting firewood, my system is as fast as anything under 80k bucks.

You go build yours, post a video, and we'll talk about it.

  • well, i want to be able to process 25 inch logs. So, the log has to fall at LEAST 26 inches, or you can't cut and split at the same time.

as for the 4 way, you NEVER need to take it off. Anything bigger then 6 inches needs split 4 ways. Anything small doesn't matter.

  • then try this.. make it so the log dont have so far to drop. then it would have fall correctly and you need a v made up this will help center your log with the wedge. also get one of those 4 way slip on wedges that way when small stuff comes your way you can slip it off and on when you need it. dont get me wrong i think your idea is cool as hell. as far as how far up the log should be from the splitter i dont know exactly this is something that im trying to find out before i build mine.

  • also, I can't figure out how to get the round to fall into the splitter perfectly every time, no matter how big the diameter, or how long the round (end of the log).

    thanks

  • What if your spliter was straight ahead of where you cut the firewood off, then you had something like a aluminum funnel, something slippery (cut in half) that slid down and droped into place. Maybe a couple bars on each side (like a V) to keep the log from rolling off either way, or an something attached to the Flat part of the spliter that would allow you to pass the end where it splits. Maybe half the length of opening that way when it splits it can still spread after it passes the spliter.

  • yours would be faster with a second person i dont disagree. but i would rather be a little slower then have to handle the wood more than once. and as far as having a second person with you i have been sawing wood since i was 16 and im 29 now and my father said he never used to have anyone around when he was sawing and he never had 1 accident either and hes going to be 62. he wanted me to ask you.. are you suppose to pay someone 7 dollars an hour.might as well burn oil.its about saving money.

  • no worries. For my setup, if the log is 10-11 inches, the splitter is faster then the saw. For every other size of wood, the saw is faster then the splitter. If the log is bigger, the splitter takes two passes to make the right sized wood.

The saw guy can stack 10 or 15 rounds up for the splitter.

When the saw guy is waiting, he can fill the saw, grab more logs off the deck, kick some sawdust out of the way, whatever.

  • i would buy your kit but, this design is not quite what i want.. the model i want to build is just like the timber wolf (pro-cmx).but with a live deck.

  • If you want something as slow to process wood as a pro cmx, then buy a pro cmx.

with two people, mine is quicker I believe.

In the video , I ran it myself, but in the real world, you need another person around for safety, and you might as well put them to work.

Mine has something like a 7 second cycle time.

  • Was there a second person pushing the log forward?

  • no its on a thing that moves it forward, notice the chain type thing under the log

  • hydraulic motor turns the conveyor chain that moves the log under the chopsaw.

I made the splitter to originally sit under the saw, but it really slowed things down.

Now, the chop saw runs as fast as it can, and a separate person splits as fast as they can.

i'm thinking of selling hydraulic kits and giving the design away so people can build their own.

    any interest????

  • send me the plans i like it

  • cool idea simple and effective but why didnt you build it so the log drops into the splitter. it would be alot better that way.

  • like the 79sp
