First of all, he's not my president. I live in Canada where we have universal health care. My parents are in their late 50's and mid 60's and often need examinations, x-rays and blood tests. All that is paid through our taxes. The only time we ever need to pay extra is for most medication.
Canadians are taken care of. If we don't want to wait, we can go elsewhere for treatment, but we have UHC to fall back on.

I'd rather pay for my health care out of my pocket when I use it, than pay taxes for it whether I use it or don't use it. You pay for it out of your own pocket just like you pay for your food, clothes, shelter, etc.

We have a scenario now that people fear the Government, not the Government fearing the people. They learned that they ignore the people and pass whatever the hell they want no matter how many letters, phone calls, etc. you write to them, b/c they have a better idea of what's good for you than you do.
Health Care is a service. A doctor has to provide it for you. The U.S. Constitution and the Founding Fathers never ever said you had a right to someone else's service.
By granting rights to a doctor's service, we are now traveling down a slippery slope. If people have a right to a doctor's service, shouldn't they have a right to hair care, nail care, lawyers, nannies, butlers, auto mechanics, tree service, lawn service, etc. Why do we only pick on the doctors?
You're taking it out of context, completely and utterly out of context.
You cannot compare a citizens basic right to live with cutting the lawn and trimming bushes, nor can you compare a citizens basic right to have working decent health, when the country demands it pays his or her taxes. Taxes are supposed to fund the government that in turn administer an unified ideal that benefits the nation as a whole. There is no benefit if citizens do not have their basic medical needs covered.
Health Care is a Service, not a right. Somebody has to provide the health care service and those people are doctors. Taxes do fund the Govt yes, but what the Govt does and how it spends money is restrained by the Constitution. The Constitution says absolutely nothing about Govt Providing Health Care.
Govt is not supposed to be in the business of Health Care nor is it supposed to be in the business of insurance.
Honestly, where do you stop the buck and say a person should be responsible?
When it comes down to it, all citizens should have the basic right to live a healthy life. Responsibility comes in the form of paying your taxes. I am NOT for people who try to abuse the system, no I detest people like that. However, there are a LOT of people that need this. We're not talking about a minority. We're talking about a huge majority.

I never really understood what the opposition (in the public) was to having Universal healthcare requiring everyone to obtain it....since we already HAD it for years! What is a health system that allows people that don't have insurance to go into a doctor or hospital and get care? or and illegal to do that same? They wear down the representatives trying to get health care approved, that's what. Eventually, Congress will just give up on it and take it off the legislative agenda. So the right wing nazis cover their asses by pretending to work with everybody for a "compromise bill" when in actuality they have no intention of EVER voting for real health care reform. In the end, they'll look like they really tried to compromise, and we still won't have decent health care. Win by attrition; it's sad.

I make $50k to $60k per year, pocket $40k to $50k a year. That $10k taxed goes to public education, civil duties, health care, veteran care, elderly care, etc.

My parents have worked ALL of their lives. My dad, a waiter for 30 years. My mom a seamstress for 28 years. My dad already receives $900/mo and my mom will get hers when she reaches 60.
My mom frequents the hospital for exams and sees the doctor for her high blood pressure. Same with my dad.
Without UHC, they wouldn't even step foot in one. If they do, they will be poorer than now.

Last thing, a friend of mine has served in the army for 11 years. When serving over in Israel, the roughly $6000/mo he made was NOT taxed as an incentive to serve overseas. Today, he's a rehab trainer and I asked him, "Would you prefer Canada's UHC or America's privatized medicine?"
He said, "Is that a trick question?"
In other words, he prefers Canada's UHC. He also said, as I've said, "If I want to, I can head over to the states for treatment, but I will always have it back home as well."

First of all, he's not my president. I live in Canada where we have universal health care. My parents are in their late 50's and mid 60's and often need examinations, x-rays and blood tests. All that is paid through our taxes. The only time we ever need to pay extra is for most medication.
Canadians are taken care of. If we don't want to wait, we can go elsewhere for treatment, but we have UHC to fall back on.
You on the other hand have your insurance, which most can't afford.

You forget to mention that in Britain and Canada, they actually have Tort Reform where they cap malpractice lawyers pay at around $250,000, whereas in America, we have no such reform and a lawyer can sue a doctor for millions, hence, this drives up insurance premiums.
Doctors pay $25K - $100K just for malpractice insurance.

I think it's funny when people say America is the only civilized nation w/o Universal Health Care, but fail to see that maybe that's the reason why people still come to the United States and that is why the United States is still superior to the rest of the civilized nations.

I'd say Clinton was way better on economics than Barack Obama. To Clinton's credit, he at least cut some taxes and reduced some spending. His major faults were the signing of CRA and repealing Glass-Steagall. To Clinton's credit, he didn't have much history to learn from with these bubbles, but Obama does and he's repeating the same thing that created the last bubble that burst in 2008, b/c he is now forcing banks to make loans again and recreating the bubble. I'd take Bill over Barack.

Yes, but the banks were forced to reduce their standards in whom they made loans to. People with bad credit or no credit, and people w/o jobs were getting approved for loans and mortgages and the banks didn't give a shit and just sold the derivatives to other banks.

Second, health IS a basic need. If people can't afford decent health, they won't be able to afford anything else. The government HAS TO start somewhere.
As for Food, there are already govt subsidized programs like Food Stamps and other drives. Shelter will most likely be the next big thing to tackle.

And I would like to add that if America wants their citizens to start spending money again, which would in turn upstart industries in production, which means those same companies would start hiring people again, then those same citizens must have their basic needs taken care of. The lack of universal health is the number one hurdle that continues to make America spiral downward.
Indeed, the UHC needs to be worked on, but that won't happen if it doesn't exist in the first place.

BTW, I make a decent living. I rarely go for examinations and I don't mind forking over my tax dollars to help others who need it. Eg: my parents, my neighbor's elderly, babies that are sick and dying, etc.

Health Care is a service. A doctor has to provide it for you. The U.S. Constitution and the Founding Fathers never ever said you had a right to someone else's service.
By granting rights to a doctor's service, we are now traveling down a slippery slope. If people have a right to a doctor's service, shouldn't they have a right to hair care, nail care, lawyers, nannies, butlers, auto mechanics, tree service, lawn service, etc. Why do we only pick on the doctors?

You cannot compare a citizens basic right to live with cutting the lawn and trimming bushes, nor can you compare a citizens basic right to have working decent health, when the country demands it pays his or her taxes. Health Care is a Service, not a right. Somebody has to provide the health care service and those people are doctors. Taxes do fund the Govt yes, but what the Govt does and how it spends money is restrained by the Constitution. The Constitution says absolutely nothing about Govt Providing Health Care.
Govt is not supposed to be in the business of Health Care nor is it supposed to be in the business of insurance.

All citizens do have the basic right to live a healthy life, however, they have to work and be responsible for their own lives too.
I think if we cut taxes to very low levels, less people would need Government and be responsible for themselves and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
I see tax and spend policies as what keeps a man poor. It desire to work via heavy taxation and keeps him comfortable in poverty through "free" Govt Programs.

You assume that EVERYONE are lazy if they need help paying their medical bills. Have you ever thought about those that work in factories, farms or have other responsibilities like taking care of their parents?
I live in Canada, in which our medical needs - our most basic needs are taken care of. We have something to fall back on, where as millions of Americans simply get sick and deal with being sick. A sick economy does not help.

I said by your logic, you should want a death tax. CBS says nothing no taxes, liar. They say federal income tax, which is a figure that is a a direct result of the bush tax cuts, can you read? It says nothing about the BOTTOM 43%. How about you elaborate on your "France is doubling their nuclear production" statement? EDF is trying to reduce it because of issues with it. Do some research, Wind Power is France's fastest growing power source, providing 23% of the nations power, and swiftly increasing while already employing 7,000 people. You should be mentioning how France is kicking America's ass in terms of Health Care in this forum, a hybrid system that while costing 10% of GDP, is still much cheaper than our ineffective system. Actually, the more money the poor make, the less money the rich can make. That may explain why republican legislation doesn't attempt to help the poor in the slightest. Compare that to the Democrats. Yes, clearly, because seeking parity of educational quality, increasing the minimum wage, supporting fair pay practices, and seeking a public health care option are all policies that are designed to "keep them down."
Similarly cutting taxes for almost exclusively the wealthiest Americans, massively increasing defense spending, focusing on social issues such as gay marriage - all of these have direct, tangible benefits to "upward mobility" of the poor.

I think everyone wants universal healthcare, but noone trust our government to run it in good faith.
My girlfriend is a doctor and she always says this..."If you get into healthcare to make money, you are in the wrong business." Doctors may have to take pay cuts. If they dont like it, they need to go away and get into digging coal.

First of all any time something is "free" people use more of it. Second...nothing is free. Someone has to pay for it., Anyone that pays taxes will pay alot more to take care of those that are either unable or unwilling to take care of themselves. I am all for taking care of those that are unable. The unwilling need to pay for their own health care or do without.
