My sense when it comes to Why they have the anncr Say "Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco Bay Area" is so that the phrase "San Francisco Bay Area" comes out in one piece. Obviously the city of SF is the flagship, but (and this really is just an educated guess from being in broadcasting for so long) "San Francisco / Oakland / San Jose Bay Area" just FEELS incorrect. Legal IDs are not the same as this, & for short "SF Bay Area" is still what we say. But in THIS context, this is why I'm betting

How come when they list the cities, San Jose gets top billing over San Francisco?

Granted SJ is now bigger population-wise than SF, but when I last heard, it was still called the "San Francisco Bay Area". And if you're going to list the cities alphabetically, SF would be ahead of SJ, while still behind Oakland.

I was shocked when I found out KTVU had gotten San Francisco's Fox affiliation- I thought it would have gone to channel 20 since they didn't have anything good to show anyways.

The effect the Fox network has had on KTVU and KTXL is EXACTLY the reason why I hate Fox!

I remember viewing movies on KTVU Channel 2 in the 1970s and 1980s when the feature films shown on it weren't censored in any way (all the stuff was left in: language, nudity, sex, violence). If Fox took it over, those days are gone.

@DavidRobertLaman I cry Bullshit! KTVU had the same FCC regulations as any other station, then or now. Maybe you flipped the A/B switch on cable then or perhaps you had one too many bong hits. You are seriously mistaken if you thought Ch. 2 showed films in their entirety. If you want to take a cheap shot at Fox, then do so. But don't try to re-create "history" from your diluted memory.
