It comes down to her unwillingness to embrace the uncomfortable life (in her own mind) of the divorced woman who left because of a cheating spouse. Shared custody. Living on her own for a while. Maybe this is more unappealing than staying.

I do not know about your situation, but perhaps you have friends who are in a similar boat and stayed because he was the devil they knew.
