  • hes is equivillent to a modern shakespear

  • Love Conor Oberst!! Check out @3:04.

  • it's so good seeing him happy and smiling! It makes me so hopeful :)

  • who's the hottie with him

  • oh crap this is that Bright Eyes guy...i thought he sounded familiar, i saw him open for Elliott Smith in NYC in the summer of 2003. Watching BE, then watching BE *watch* ES was funny. It was like a follower watching the real thing...at least that's what i took away from that day,

  • El Popocatepetl, esta dormido, pero pronto despertara :)

  • Omg he smiled..

    So cute.

  • i think it's good stuff but he better not stop drinking live

  • Got the 720p HD video version uploaded !!!

  • wy thumb up gay comments?

  • I love Conor :)

  • gay :O

  • this is such a sad song when you think about it... which such a happy music vid!

  • Pause it at :58. It's nice to see Conor smile every once in a while. I'd say cherish that frame.

  • @Johnnyxtsunami I dunno, you're ignoring the fact that it's a fake smile, like the one you use for photos.

  • It would be ridiculous to suggest an artist maintain their suffering just to make it into art. I know for a fact that Conor Oberst experiences happiness, I mean how could he have written some songs without feeling hope, or love, or happiness?

But when the hard times come around..his art is how he deals with it.

  • Bright Eyes, Blitzen Trapper, Osvaldo Paese, Fleet Foxes and Jakob Dylan are some of the best singer songwriters of our time.

  • The Barrio starts a couple blocks over

hes reaching out to us mexicans yay

  • Check out FONZIFREE Music page On Myspace

  • Hahaha, I really like this video, I always wonder why Conor would agree to do something like this, because it doesnt seem like anything else he's done.

  • this song always brings me to good thoughts. usually when im down i listen to this song and i don't care what happed.

  • Its amazing how selfishness and greed can blind people so let me explain it to you:SELLING OUT IS NOT WHEN YOU BECOME SUCCESSFUL IT S WHEN YOU COMPROMISE PRINCIPLES FOR CAPITAL GAINS AND OR FIND REASONS NOT TO PICK UP THE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT COME WITH HAVING MORE(DONATING TO CHARITY, RESPONSIBLE SPENDING,NOT HOARDING AND NOT USING YOUR WEALTH TO INFLUENCE IMBALANCES IN YOUR COMMUNITY ONLY TO PERPETUATE YOUR OWN GOALS VERSUS THE WELLBEING OF OTHERS) That my friend is selling out>

  • I'm not sure about him sobering up. I saw the band live and there was clearly some drug influence in the acts of many band members. Maybe i'm wrong but the way they acted reminded me alot of myself when i was on coke, or ecstasy, so maybe its just the lingering effects on his personality. I dont know. I do know i loved the show, and as always he played with his own lyrics live to fit his ever changing perspective. Gotta love genious.

  • @CheshireMoonView Maybe he was just super excited about playing to a great crowd. Maybe he's in love. I don't know what it's like playing to a packed out venue, but I'd imagine I'd flip out a bit and to other people it might look like Im on drugs. Just sayin.

  • i love conor!

    simply put

    blahh

  • this is not half bad! i hear he's from Omaha, and we used to live in Council Bluffs in the 80s and i think this guy's father was my doctor if anybody believes that or not, that is only a guess. i say that because my doctor's name was Oberst

  • @jusaLOSER his pops definately was a dr. read alot on his family. the song bowl of oranges will shed some light for you. a few others do as well

  • His dad was an Information Manager for Mutual of Omaha

  • 123456 views

  • i listened to this just then

  • j'adoreeeee. ♥

  • ive had the worst day ever, but somehow conor made it better.. again!

  • How much can you love a person?

about as much as I love this man.

  • Does anybody know what make of guitar conor is playing at the beggining?

    Thanks..

  • He looks like he's grown up a bit....but his voice is just as lovely as ever.

  • this man is a lyrical genius

  • this is my first listen to the album...really not impressed

  • conor is god

  • no doubt mott and the hoople was an influence

  • mott THE hoople.

    no 'and.'

  • Conor Oberst *jizz in my pants*

  • Duck you duckers

  • He's amazing.

    Conor Oberst. <33

    Orgasm. :]

  • His lyrics are brilliant happy or sad.. :)

  • If Conor's happy, then I'm happy and I won't stop buying his albums.

  • what ever he writes sad or happy it always turns out very nice he is just great.

  • he's so....happy.

    its kinda strange.

not saying that i dont like it, but before his songs were always deep, dark, and passionate. but this is like too.."pop" if you will.

idk, conor oberst is great and all, but i hate how hes changing his sound

  • Christ, I can't believe the shit you're saying about Conor. To be honest seeing him happy is motivation for me, I hope I can find the happiness that he possesses.

  • =)!

  • funny huh ? you noticed how modern music and fashion seems to be going back in time a lil ?

  • on occasion i think we live in the most amazing time for music and fashion, we can take anything from the past and mix and match, its amazing. then other times i wonder why are we so unorgignal? sure it seems like everythings already been done but maybe people who had breakthroughs in the past also felt the same. blah bunny tracks XD but ya i agree, and i like it! peace :)

  • conor rocks. those of you who writes miserable stuff like conor's songs became hell of a jolly shit, you should eat crap babes

  • selfish assholes. i'd rather the guy be happy and enjoy the shit out of life. he's always gonna be a bad ass.

  • I dislike how people are suggesting that he stay unhappy. I understand that that is when he made the music you all enjoyed but that is just the evolution of art. Poets cannot stay stagnate just like the mind is impetuous. Dylan did the same thing and I do not want to be another loser who compares Oberst and Dylan but I believe that his lyrics are still brilliant and true. If you want the same old complaints listen to The Smiths.

  • Aye, I agree. But never insult The Smiths...

  • @stormthegates13

yea. but it doesnt mean i have to like it.

  • @stormthegates13 same old complaints? the smiths? you are obviously out of touch with the smiths, and you're better off not bringing them up in support of your views (which i agree with)

  • @stormthegates13 wow did yu rly just insult the smiths what the fuck ?

  • @stormthegates13 i hope that wasn't a shot at The Smiths....

  • @stormthegates13 Dylan IS A FAR STRETCH. i'M SORRY BUT THIS IS CLEAN POP. WE all want something to grasp. Rock and roll is about danger and feeling like: yes I am crazy and so are these people. this song. at best is a pop song.

  • @iamloitering thats your opinion

  • @iamloitering if this is pop where the hell is it in the charts? Pop being short for popular, surely? This is an artist of quality, not someone who produces music for the number of views, and personally I think that quality makes his music worth a billion of the generic pop song you get nowadays. And 'pop' is a stupid word and just one I would never associate with him, at all. Goes without saying that this is my opinion of course.

  • He must me getting some great ass or something. That's the only reason I can think of as to why he is so happy happy, joy joy all of a sudden. Before he was all "woe is me" n' shit. I ain't mad at him.

  • Hmm, I really hope you didnt just suggest Conor kill himself? What an incredible waste of talent that would be...

I think it'll grow with age, because I never liked Digital Ash/Wide Awake when it came out - but now I love them. I still don't care much for Cassadaga, I think the Conor Oberst album is really something. Lyrics are pretty brilliant as well.

Conor's just known for change, which I personally like, but you'll just have to hope he changes back!

  • @CarmenInWonderland Cassadaga is an amazing album. I never really liked it either and now I'm truly obsessed with it, it's truly a great album I suggest you hearken onto it. I in particular like "Lime Tree" and "Make A Plan To Love Me".

  • @ChristianMierda Typical late reply from me - but I actually do love the Cassadaga album now! But my favourites on the album are Soul Singer and If the Brakeman Turns My Way. All this talking about Bright Eyes is making me a little upset considering he (and they!) were playing here in London on VALENTINES, but despite having woken up half an hour early to get tickets, they sold out within the MINUTE it took me to put my details in. I heard the gig was great,... :(

  • @CarmenInWonderland It would be a good career move; help record sales

  • @CarmenInWonderland If going into the past was as easy as taking a step backward, we would never move forward.

  • That's sickening.

  • Actually, I was saying that the thought that he should have killed himself was sickening.

Because really really is. I think Conor is great in any mood. It's true that I prefer the darker Bright Eyes albums, but Conor's new perspective gives me hope.

  • well you're a bit ignorant aren't you

  • You disgust me.

How could you wish that upon someone? Wanting someone to retain their misery SOLEY for the sake of a good song is genuinely sickening.

    Go to hell, fucker

  • You disgust me. How could you wish someone to go to hell on the basis that he made a comment based on his opinion.

    Go to hell, fucker-nitwit.

  • who the fuk are you?

  • who the fuCk are you?

  • I wasn't talking to you..(I'm Daniel)

  • lol

  • omg i love him sooo much! his new album is awesome if anyone gotten it/listened to it you totally should!!!

  • I saw him here in the netherlands! hes soooooo cute in real life ^^ <3!!!

    ..xox from a tru fan

  • By the way, the show was amazing and would rate it as the best show I've ever seen live. If you don't like Bright Eyes live, you obviously wouldn't like their records, so what did you expect?

Conor is great live. He wore a giant black sombrero and kept tempting the crowd about throwing it out. Was truly one of the best nights of my life.

Even though some overly-perverted teeny bopper kept grabbing my ass. Awkward!

  • Actually, yes conor has cleaned up. He drinks but doesn't snort blow anymore. To the person below who mocked the idea of Conor using drugs, sorry, but from personal knowledge as well as just being a fan, you don't write close to 1/2 your songs with drug references without being a user yourself.

Conor went to Mexico to help sober up. This album is a result. He still drinks like a fish, saw him last week, he was the most sober person in the band probably, but still clearly drunk. Cheers.

  • He went from saddlecreek to wichita? that's kinda cool.... my two favorite labels ever..... and he's a badass at music.

  • he went to merge?

  • Conor is a genius¡¡I love "Bright eyes" and I love his new work, his new record,he's is the best¡¡¡¡His voice is amazing and the songs are all beautiful¡¡¡

  • Does anyone know if he's cleaned up? He seems to be a lot more sober and not so depressed.

  • I know huh....he looks quite happy

  • this is the happiest I've ever seen him...

  • ...Cleaned up? Haha. You know Conor's lyrics aren't necessarily autobiographical, right?

  • I love how his song-writing is evolving and frankly he seems a lot happier with his recent albums. Yay for Conor :)

  • why the fuck do people say they look like the Jonas Brothers??

  • who the hell says that?

  • i dont even know okay, there was just this one guy who went to conors concert and someone said that they look like his band! :P lol weird, they dont though

  • anyone know where i can download this video per chance?

  • download something called:

    vdownloader.

    dwnlds any vid from youtube.

  • itunes!

  • The sailor looks allot like Ned Kingsley form The Life Aquatic

  • This video reminds be a bit of Elliott Smith's "coming up roses" video, not too sure why...

  • Haha, Conor acts like such a dork in this video...I love it!

  • what a fun video love love you connor <3

  • to be ann frank. i hate it.

  • grow not gross, haha.

  • Really people need to stop judging this as compared to previous work of Conors. This is different from his other more dark albums. The fact that there's a certain country twang to this album and this song is only weeding out static fans. Artists gross and their sound evolves. If people stop listening to him just because he seems happier now, that's just sad.

  • You won't be getting in because it's all "souled out" in heaven. Haha =D

Love this solo album, it's genius, just like every other Oberst creation.

  • i like it. (:

i love bright eyes, but it makes me happy to see a brighter side of conor.

he actually seems...sober, and that's not a shot at all.

  • what happened to bright eyes??

  • nothing happened to bright eyes. this isnt bright eyes its conor oberst

  • haha

looks like conor found his sense of humor

    its refreshing to see :)

  • hahahahah.

i love you conor.. like really i have for years.

  • the name of the song suits it well

    SOLD OUT

  • i second that

  • There's something very "Paul Westerberg-ish" about this.

  • he doesn't follow any style.

  • this sounds so...happy

conor what happened to you baby?

  • He found him self in Cassadaga, and in Mexico.

He stopped all the melancholy song writing

  • he's also gained weight as well...

    I like all his music.

He's just an artist you can like from beginning to end. Even through all the changes he does.

  • He did an interview with Rolling Stone about his revalations and such, you should check it out.

  • does nottt!

  • gtfo richard u ugly kid

  • wohoo i like the song very much... it's completely different than bright eyes, but i like both styles!

  • He seems to have gotten a new look too. Suits him quite well!

  • i am aware of his previous country albums.

i mean that he is on a trend now where it dosent seem like he will go back to any of his other styles. just to clear things up for people.

  • this is a completely new band with a completely new sound. let him try something new! quit hating, the mystic valley band is badass and they have some great singles.

  • it looks, smells and sounds like conor, but it's a little hard to believe. not saying its good or bad, just different...

  • hO! conor ho! conor

  • why the fuck did he start making country music?

bright eyes stuff is way better

  • take it you've never listened to I'm wide awake its morning then...

  • You know Bright Eyes was mostly country right?

  • someone didnt pay very much attention to the lifted or cassadaga albums

  • This does remind me of Pavement!

It's so much different from his Bright Eyes work, not saying different is bad.

    I like it,alot.

  • wow.

this seems nothing like NOFX's Soul Doubt..

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Conor Oberst but this is probably my least favorite release I've heard of his. Not because it's a bad song just because I'm used to so much passion and emotion from him. This seems so toned down and dull in comparison to his older work.

  • well i think it might be (because it seems to me) that he is at a much happier time in his life and i guess the strong emotions that always get me in his older songs come from depression , but i still really love the new stuff too

  • which I thought myself... this is definitely a happier side of Conor which I'm glad to see because sometimes I worried about that drunk kid I heard on records. I'm for sure stoked about him being happy. But passion leaked out with his depression. Depression doesn't make passion and neither does happiness. But you can have passionate depression and passionate happiness and his happiness is not passionate... if that makes sense, haha...

  • I agree with your statement, but it seems to me that Conor is trying to seperate himself slightly from his Bright Eyes style. I do hear passion in this, maybe not as hard hitting as Bright Eyes material, but then again, it's 'Conor Oberst'.

  • rather good for a fucktard

  • No, you're not.

  • OH MY GOD HE'S SMILING

  • This reminds me of Pavement. Cool song!

  • conors genius. stop being critical . say things like. I love conor!. if you say anything at all. it's all good.

  • i think this is an interesting thing for conor to do. i like how it's upbeatiness, but i can't help to cling to his older works. this is still beautiful, though, don't get me wrong. fuck, if conor took a shit on my face i would still consider it genius and beautiful. xD

  • it's a boring song but i like this easy feeling in here

  • here here

  • i love you conor oberst.

    i love this video too.

  • has anyone seen them in concert? i saw them in Manchester and thought they were reaallllllyy gooood :)

  • Hm. I liked him better when he whined.

  • Not everyone stays an emo kid their whole life. This song is awesome, and so is the rest of the album.

  • so good live

    fhwejkfhbsdjkfhweuihdjkfsd

  • fun video!!

  • i really dont like how hes turning all country

i think his best music comes from

"digital ash in a digital urn"

this is so different from that

  • I couldn't agree more, my fav bright eyes album.

  • gtfo

  • he is so cute, isn't he?

  • he makes me happy inside.

  • wow hes happy?

connor is my favorite for life. such great music.

but this less sad stuff is gunna b
