  • When he said I got to let Charlie out for a shit

  • Cool.

  • I really liked the video. Just wondering, how do you anchor your leg hold traps. Do you use cable or wire? And do you tie them off to small trees? Thanks, keep up the good work.

  • Love your videos keep making em

  • Great videos man, regards from Ontario

  • What are the Lynx for?! Eating? Fur?

  • I used to use a 330 conibear for starlings in the back yard. I would make a ball of bread and stick it on the trip wires. I also used to use one when going out for bunnies in pipes and holes. I would just shove a sick through and the rabbit would run out the other side popping the trap. heheh. That`s about the extent of my trapping experiences. hehehe Hey Thanks for sharing your dream life . thimbs up.

  • Hey im from alaska and watching your videos is really cool becuas this trapping season is being slow. Im trying to ketch lynx cyote fox marten

  • For that double snare pen do you think it could work for coon and fox

  • doyou think you could make a video of how to make a cubby hole set for lynx? thats would be great if you could respond

  • i have an old bravo to and they are crazy reliable!

  • Hello from north of the 51st parallel in Manitoba. Watching your videos since last season and never a dull moment. The wolves and coyotes have really hurt our white tail deer population the last couple years. A wolf pelt is worth over $235 this year, coyote almost $56. A big jump in prices this year. Learning a lot from your videos and appreciate you taking the time to explain your sets and strategy. Keep up the great work and best of the Season to you and your family.

  • I learned a couple things from the vid, tks for posting

  • Love your videos

  • @andrew,damn they will show im sure brother, patince im told usually pays off,now get to work ,we want to see more videos damn it!, JK you be careful brother, look forward in some more north country trapping with ya on video.

  • Modern Day Trapper The Wild North .. I always look forward to your videos .. as stated Last of a true breed

  • man u need to get a tv show ur one of the last true trappers. Good luck and thanks for the videos!

  • I was wondering if it is hard to keep the smell of the snowmachine exhaust from ruining your sets. I know when i get done riding I smell bad.

  • @TheBadger1967 yeah i usually turn off the snowmachine wen working around any set

  • Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My Grand father was a trapper in New Brunswick for years. I never got to meet him but my Uncle took me trapping a few times. Its hard to learn everything in just a few days. I wish I could live like you, but have kids now lol.

  • Enjoyed it, so how did you do on them snares with the tree logs suspended with counter weights?

  • @roostermandave1 i only have 2 set right now no lynx been around em yet

  • Another great, informative video. Good shit, man. I hope you get something on those swinging pole sets.

Is this your only job? Also, how often do you check your sets?

  • i do some animal damage control once in a while for the railway and highways. i check my traps everyday if not every second day.

  • Cityboy says: pretty cool lifestyle. My kid and I skipped TV last night and watched you in action instead. My wife says you swear too much, I told her to fuck off. We built a huntcamp this year and bought some traps last month, looking forward to setting them and will follow your instructions. Where is your camp? I will look at it with Google Earth.

  • You are Inspirational Brother. I am Jealous of what you get to do. One of the Best Channels ever! Safe year to you. And I hope you make alot of Money!

  • You make a good video. Hard worker. Any gold prospeccting around you? Give you something to do off season. Make some pocket money.

  • @edfrhes i hear theres gold in the cameron river thats not too far from my cabin its up in the cameron hills i have a gold pan but i never used it before

  • Good job!!

  • 17HMR is an awesome rifle! Glad to see you back out. Can't wait for this seasons vids! Be well my Canadian Brother and stay warm! LOL

  • Great vid as usual ... I am looking for a trapline, but for now watching your vids is just amazing. Keep posting them.

Did you quit smoking ? I have not seen a single cigarette in this vid, just an ashtray on the table at the end. Just asking.

  • Hey love your vid , im just starting trapping an i was wondering uhh like whats a good mink/martin bait an were i should set traps for em

  • Thanks for showing the stumpset, stay safe out there bro, we love you.

  • Awesome scenery man. whats the temperature this time of year.

  • @manostihl around -20 during day about -25 at night.

  • I particularly enjoyed this video. I just moved to Minnesota from Alaska and to make a long story short, I can't trap this year because I didn't take a trapping class and they don't offer any more this year. Makes me feel like I'm setting up my old line up in Alaska.

  • @flyfysher69 that sucks so you wont be trapping this winter?

  • @TheWildNorth Well, I just took the online test for the trapping education. Now I need to figure out how to get the field training portion done before trapping season. BIG pain in the ass. For the meantime, just watching TheWildNorth and waiting. Good luck trapping.

  • How's the weather up there Andrew?

  • love seeing your videos ! wish everyone could live the way you do, the world would be a way better place.

  • great video's....keep them coming...

  • another great video andrew. every time i watch your videos i think about getting my trappers license. I've got my hunting license, but i don't know much about trapping, although my father used to do it. Thanks again and keep 'em coming!

  • @DH660 Do it. If you are like me it will change your life. I used to be a hunter also, now I'm way better>>LOL.

  • kansas likes

  • another great video good luck this trapping season and would love to see a lynx in one of those tip up snares

  • I don't have an issue with hunting for food and survival, but what's your point in hunting predators?

  • @Right2Carry1911 He sells furs for a living. He's a native in NWT.

  • Can't wait to see the results of the sets.

Once again you r keeping me and all my facebook friends entertained.

I still believe all your viewers and myself gotta come together and get you a national television program.

  • @doobiesandbeer we can all help by sharing these videos through our facebook friends.

  • Keep the videos comeing i love them

  • Enjoy your videos and admire the lifestyle choice.

  • Good Luck this season !!! I REALLY enjoy your vids Andrew !!! I miss it !!!

  • hey andrew i am glad you are finaly back at it .looking forward to seeing the fur shed full .go get em

  • Nice to see your update! This far I have caught 2 european marten after 6 days with 6 traps out. A nice start. I have 6 more traps to set. - giving me a total of 14. Can't wait to see your next update. I hope you snare some lynx in that counterweight. Traps with a portion of creativity are interesting. I myself have a log as a deadfall with a toggle-release set in a three. Maybe I'll make a video if I get something in it. I also have a rifle in.17 HMR. I have to agree, it's a great caliber :)

  • Good Luck this season. Would love to come run the lines with you sometime.

  • Hi how much daylight are you working with at this time of the year??

  • @feheley about 8 hrs soon we will have 6 hrs of daylight

  • Another great episode Andrew! Can't wait for the next one. Hope this season's trapping goes as good as the moose hunt! Best of luck to you.

  • Cant wait to see the results! Keep them coming

  • keep up the good work!

  • Andrew,

You have inspired me to try out trapping this year. Now only if I could catch some critters like you do.

    Zack

  • Andrew,

This will be my first year of trapping. You are partly to blame. Keep the vid's coming. I am trying to read,or watch video's, or prepare some part of my gear every day. Season starts in two days. Thanks again.

    Dave Kimball

  • Nice Video keep them coming.

  • Hi, I enjoyed that vid dude. I'm from Wales in the Uk. This is the first vid of yours I have watched, I'm really looking forward to looking through the rest of your stuff..

  • Awesome vid Andrew, watched every video and am always checking for new ones. Hope to see a cat in the air really soon. Best of luck!

  • Great vid bud! very well put together..

  • Great video. Looking forward to more.

  • killer videos man,i've watched em all and learned alot.going to try those snare pens this year here in alaska but already killed some beaver with your under ice sets last year.keep up the good work and showing a more traditional lifestyle

  • "The Line" is up and running! Glad to see it, and looking forward to the upcoming seasons successes. Hope to see a Lynx a-swingin'. HAWBAKERS! They operate out of my "back-yard." I will forward your videos to them!!!

  • Andrew. I love you videos. I just recently got into trapping myself. Im self taught so your videos are real good for instruction. Im really trying to get good at putting up fur so i can sell it. My wife and i have two kids and we sold every thing to move to alaska. Wanted to move out and show my kids how to live off the land. Keep em comin.

  • Andrew do you have a rough estimate of how many of each animal you get a year. Would be fun if all us regulars had a little "bragging rights" contest picking closest number trapped this new season for each species you will get this year. Keep on keeping on , great job and thank you for the vids. Iam willing to track everyone guess and trapped #'s

  • @luludawg1 i only have a few stes out right now still very little snow i only cought 2 foxes and 3 weasels this week ha ha it will pick up next month

  • Awesome video's man, all of them!

  • You should give a tour of your trapping cabin and great videos watch mine I'm a new trapper on YouTube

  • tomorrow I am going out on my line and hope to set out 42 power rams. Your videos keep me pumped up to get out on the line. That little bravo is one tough machine.

  • @assessorcoyoteman yeah i drove the piss out of that bravo over the yers hopefully it wont leave me walking this winter ha ha

  • Andrew, trying setting you pan so it's level with the trap jaws, then use a sheet of white paper towl as a pan cover. I don't know anything about wolverine and not much of lynx but this method works excellent for coyote, fox and i'm sure wolf too.

  • @WorldWideOutdoors i use wax paper to cover my leghold sets white pazper towl tends to freeze sometimes.i think i demonstrate this in my next video if youtube will ever let me upload it i had 7 failed aborts trying to upload the last couple days.

  • another awesome vid, really enjoy em, where in canada do u live in?

  • Whaddaya shoot with the .17 hmr?

  • Another great video!!!!! My question for you is what do you do for water? do you have a well or do you get your water from the river? Keep the videos coming I envy your life...

  • @averagefamily i drink out of the hay river.summertime i drink soft water(rain water)

  • May you Linx take an airplane ride... where is your Metis flag?, and I haven't heard any fiddle music

  • another great vid. Getting ready to set also, traps are ready, I'm not. Keep the vids coming, and good luck this season.

  • I love these longer videos!! You have quickly become my favorite person to watch on youtube. I know it takes some extra effort to make the videos consistently and edit them but I really do appreciate it and I know many others do as well. Your videos are far better than anything on TV here in the states!!! Good luck this season and stay safe!

  • @redogman67 thanks man

  • Nice video, as usual, fella.

  • nice vid love it

  • Thanx, It's always exiting to watch your videos. Sure wish I was allowed to trap here.

Best wishes for this season from Denmark

  • Thanks for thinking of us, taking us along on the excursions. It's great to see someone who goes out and creates his own job - most of the rest of us are all bound up in highly complex networks of jobs and money and politics, you name it. And if this system starts to get shaky, there's not a a lot you can do about it.

  • Do you have a patent on your snare trigger?

  • one of your best videos! you need to get some one to video you professonally and sell them you are a traping king!

  • damn i love these vidios!

  • This is what I've been waiting for the trapping videos. I've learnt alot man. Im even gonna try that pop up set for bobcat here in west virginia. U think it will work with a foot hold trap. An im new to trapping an all I use is steel foothold traps an i was wondering why u don't hide em in the snow

  • @orvie29 oh i hide them i cover them with wax paper to keep the rigger from freezing wen it snows it hides them great.i dident have my wax paper wen i made this video but the following days i hid them all with wax paper i demonstrate hiding them in my next video.

    thanks for commenting

  • We must visit traps every 96 hours here (NV). Is there a regulation like that up there? If so what is your times?

  • @V5R7N every 48 hrs they must be checked thats only goes for legholds i believe

  • Nice video! Good luck! Hey, do you trap them stupid weasel?

  • Great video. Thanks for your efforts. Best of luck.

  • Great channel man. Couple questions though. I know you made a video where you made a snare, but could you make another one and actually show the pieces and tell us, well me, what you recommend for line thickness? And how much do you get up there for fur? I started looking into it where I'm at and it seems pretty decent. I'm going to start trapping because of your videos, good job.

  • Always enjoy your videos, thanks from the netherlands!

  • Good stuff ,hope you do well with the traps. Keep the videos coming.

  • Thanks much for sharing ths - great job!... Best wishes to you....

  • woooooooooooooooo new video thank you so much and good luck man

  • andrew thought you should bait lynx traps/snares with small chunks ? cause there mouths are small more appealing to them , good work good videos i will getting out on my line next week ! good luck

  • @pilot6932 the first i heard of that maybe your right. i dont have trouble catching lynx with bigger pieces of bait!

  • the excitement builds...... cant wait to see you start snaggin some fur. more please~!!!!! lol

  • @wiggler889 yeah wiggler i have Trapping Tales 02 finished and edited with a few catches and some more sets but youtube is fucking me around it wont upload this video i am trying to change the file format right now maybe it will be up in a few hours it failed like 7 times trying to upload...stay tuned

  • As always...EXCELLENT VIDEO! Thanks!

  • fuck yeah!

  • awesome man! i wish i lived up there must have somne big whitetails eh?

  • @whitetailwoodsarcher no man we dont have deer in the north too much snow and wolfs i think.i seen like 5 in my life in the n.w.t

  • @TheWildNorth really, damn wolfs!hope you get a couple trapped this year! saw what they did to that coyote! hey im also woundering why do you use a 17 hmr to hunt and shoot your animals you catch? i 22lr is way less exspencive even with cci stingers witch give out roughly 180 foot pounds and 25 yards and the hmr gives of like 230 foot pounds. so i guess there is a bit of a diff but im just woundering! thanks. keep the videos comming!

  • Belisle ( Bell - Eye - Llll) Haha, nice video Andrew.

  • Another great video Andrew! Thanks!

  • Good shit man! LOL

  • Your video's keep getting better and better Andrew. The best trapping channel on youtube for sure.

  • I can't wait to see a video of a line check.

  • @stevevks its done man just got to be uploaded

  • I just remeberd andrew! you going to let them wolves eat the nose off of that moose! moose nose and potatos .ounce a year is enough ehhh andrew lol!

  • @rednecklowlife well that moose head was given to me for bait from a friend if it was my moose head i would have shit that nose out all ready ha ha.

  • Ok its that time. andrew has layed out the steel in the bush! Next videos are my faverite of all. We will get to see how a real trapper gets it done! Cant wait to see the results! I predict you will get a cat in the air this year too! thanks man peace!

  • How many animals do you trap in a good year? It looks like you get ALOT of everything, it makes me wonder how much wildlife there is in your area. Love you videos! Here in Sweden trapping is illegal, and we can´t hunt wolf, wolverine, hardly any lynx. But we do hunt bear, moose, deer, beaver and so on. I myself is not a hunter, I can´t get a license in this country because of really hard regulations.

  • @neuroleptika every year is diffrent it just depends on how many traps i get out and how hard i feel like working ha ha.

yes there is a lot of wildlife in my area that is for sure.

  • Everytime i don't see your videos for a few weeks i wonder if you fell to a Bear or one of those long legged, double breasted mattress thrashers. Be safe man. Pet Charlie.

  • Always enjoy your videos, can't wait to see some fur in the traps!!

  • awesome! thanks for the upload, hope you find everything you need!.greetings.

  • Thanks for another great video!

Click the ads guys.. Help support the videos!

  • nice country, keep it up, we're loving them over here in BC

  • Sweet video!! Cant wait to see a cat hangin from that set!! Lookin forward to your next vid...peace

  • I have watched all your videos more than once, cousin and I think there great lol ,it's nice to see new country and the wildlife you have there, I have all ways wondered who influenced you ? You must have had a teacher, grandfather ? Elder?

Your not only sharing your skills as a hunter/trapper, your also documenting your life and native/ metis culture .

    Thanks

    Myles

  • @kipawalake i was influienced by my grandfather and other elders that trap

  • another winner!!! people should watch this if they think you are livin in luxury with no work to do....there is a lot of work and ingenuity involved in this work and you demonstrate it very well!!...can't wait for the next vid!!! peace joe in new york

  • keep them comeing man

  • your living the life many of us long for.... your vids are as close to this as most of us will ever get, so we thank you for your efforts. What do you shoot your videos with? We'd love to see more of the processing as you can, once again thanks man and stay safe.

  • Love watching your videos brother, and love the language you use. I grew up on the Canadian border in NY, and have always gotten a kick out of the "Canadian rednecks" and the language they use! I can picture 2 of you natives going into a bar, and 40 sailors running out embarrassed by the language you guys shamed them with!

  • @mem7048 ha ha yeah man i been trying to cut back on the swearing so much its hard though its like trying to learn a new language.

  • Great Videos. I am looking forward to seeing your trapping results in the future. Its nice to see the gear you use and get alittle more info on your 17hmr. I saw your video on shooting that black bear and tanning the hide with Borax. Is Borax all you used and if so how long did you keep the Borax on the hide? Thanks-Martin

  • Can't wait to see the video with all those traps full! It was really interesting seeing your various tricks of the trade. Best channel on yt imho. Good luck this season, be safe, and post lots of videos! -Kevin

  • Hopefully we will get to see a lynx hanging. Here in NY- no snares and no suspended animals, which makes its a lot more limited. I have never understood the no snare rule here. Good luck.

  • really enjoyed the video. update when you can

  • Thanks for taking the time to shoot these videos. Very entertaining and informative. You are living the good life my friend! Where are you located?

  • Love your vids man, thanks for sharing your trapping tips as well.

  • Awesome to see your movies back up, looking forward to seeing more of them

  • Glad to see you back on the line

  • Thanks for sharing, man

  • great videos upload as ofted as you can! i dont care if its a 50 second clip love seeing day to day stuff

  • nice to see you back can not wait for more of you great videos by the way you can set up a stirling engine generator to your wood stove to get electricity in your cabin..

  • @leo226644 i have a 2500 watt honda generator.

  • lookin forward to seein your catch !! Good luck dude

  • can't wait to see a lynx in one of those tip-up sets. My dad and I have been fox and raccoon trapping mostly,as dad says "stacking em like firewood" lol But soon my favorite seasons opens (mink) well good luck this year and keep the videos coming.

  • Those Belisle traps are good. Nice safeties on them that don't fall to the side as you set them. They are pronounced bell-ill. I like the innovative sets. More interesting than a box cubby and easier to tote. Do you file teeth on your cam locks? Do you load your snares? they are really round and that's either due to the wire (1/19?) or the loading of the snare. Keep the videos coming. be safe. thanks.

  • You forgot to show Charlie taking a shit. Ha. Pet that charlie for me.

  • glad to see your back out on the line, good luck and i am looking forward to more videos.

  • I don't know why i am gining you trapping advice, you are THE EXPERT. Throw in a supper video when you can man. Up load anything we all are starved for your videos.

  • @Twostones00 my next supper video will be lynx dinner.

    thanks for commenting

  • I really like the pole set with a snare. I used to trap cats in my garage about the same way. I'd put a 110 coni flat on the work bench with the chain tied to a roof rafter. The damn cats would jump up on the bench and get caught, jump fall off the bench and go for a swing. It was fun to go into the garage and see a cat hanging with his tounge out. Peace man.

  • Did you get the internet in camp yet?

maybe we can see some marten this year

  • Great video, well done. When i saw the A frame you wired together with the 220 conibear one of my trapping sets came to mind. I lay the 220 down flat on a hard flat surface with bait on the trigger. The target animal gets right over the trap, grabs the trigger bait and the coni jumps up around his head and neck. Even a fast animal can't move faster than a coni. I get them almost every time with that set. Give it a try.

  • right on Andrew best luck to you

  • Great vid can't wait to see the results from your set's.

  • Hi, thank you for making the videos. Great opportunity for my family to see what it's really like on the trap lines. Regards John

  • Great video as usual....when spring comes can you maybe make a fishing video kind of like "pike every cast" thanks

  • i always look forward to seeing new vids from u. they are all great. it's the way to live.

    Thank You

  • awesome vid, nice to see the different sets. quick question, i heard that the 17hmr leaves a big exit hole in critters, which makes it a bad choice for dispatching trapped animals, have you had this problem?

  • @SurvivalInFlames if you use the jacketed hollow pont bullets they can leave a nasty hole. you gotta use the ballistic tips not the t.n.t explosives as they call em. the ballistic tips do not exit only 1 pin hole.
