Joe is definitely one of the most informed commentators I've heard. The fact that he's got a lifelong background in traditional and progressive martial arts gives his commentary an empathetic depth that I think is invaluable. Maybe I don't always agree with him on everything, but I think that health factors and background info are important to understand the context of the fighter's performance.

If a fighter has a kidney infection that keeps him in bed on sporadic days during his 12 week fight training, or if a fighter had staph and it negatively impacted his training - it's an announcers job to inform people of this. Yes, fighters fight when they are injured, but a veteran commentator like Rogan is going to point out the injuries and speculate on their impact on the fight. It's what he's paid for.

If your betting money, I think you should know, and now pre fight injuries are common, and made public days, sometimes weeks before the fight, example, One of Micheal Jordans most impressive, wins was an important play off game he played with the flu, he looked awful sick, but played through and lead his to to a victory, injury or not u still got to fight, give them credit for fighting hurt

Joe is definitely one of the most informed commentators I've heard. The fact that he's got a lifelong background in traditional and progressive martial arts gives his commentary an empathetic depth that I think is invaluable. Maybe I don't always agree with him on everything, but I think that health factors and background info are important to understand the context of the fighter's performance.

He's not coming off as an asshole here, he's just saying, as a fighter and a large public figure, people don't want to hear excuses or things like that. I totally agree with Frank Mir! I don't want to hear that some of the fighters are injured when they fight. because I don't like to think about that they might not fight up to their full potential. and every fighter are hurt somewhere anytime. and then they'll NEVER fight up to their full potential.
and that ain't something people, or at least what I want to know.

Mir needs to shut his mouth. Rogan doesn't make excuses, he gives reason. If a fighter has a kidney infection that keeps him in bed on sporadic days during his 12 week fight training, or if a fighter had staph and it negatively impacted his training - it's an announcers job to inform people of this. Yes, fighters fight when they are injured, but a veteran commentator like Rogan is going to point out the injuries and speculate on their impact on the fight. It's what he's paid for.

If your favorite fighter was injured a week before a fight, would you want to know? If your betting money, I think you should know, and now pre fight injuries are common, and made public days, sometimes weeks before the fight, example, One of Micheal Jordans most impressive, wins was an important play off game he played with the flu, he looked awful sick, but played through and lead his to to a victory, injury or not u still got to fight, give them credit for fighting hurt

@jasonpeak82 Your looking at it from a gambling stand point, I was looking at it from the entertainment side. Nobody wants to hear about injuries, Fighters are never 100%. So if your healthy enough to walk to the octagon, then you should keep your mouth shut if you don't win. AND basketball is a poor analogy. Basketball is a team sport in which you rely on 4 other people

Basketball, Football, soccer, what ever sport your in, they all report injuries before after games, why should fighting be different, Nogueria fought injuried, maybe he felt he needed to apologize for his performance, I'm not saying Nog lost because he was sick, but you can't argue that wasnt a factor
