why the fuck would Cuba give Americans free medical care. I'm in Canada and we have socialized medicince but if an American came here we'd charge them, I saw a price list on the wall at my loal hospital which of course doesn't apply to me
@MaddDogg81 A. the Cuban people are generous and want to work for the benefit of all humanity! or B. publicity stunt. (either way its good for those people who where helped)
@Vantastic4thewin I hate it when you conservatives throw around the word "socialist" like it's a derogatory term. Face it, you need at least a little bit of socialism in your life. What if everything was privatized? What if you had to pay upfront for every single social service you received, like your police force or your fire department? Only with corporate mandates, those systems would be as full of technicalities as the fucked up american health care system. You need at least SOME socialism.
@GdoubleWB ME? A CONSERVATIVE??? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah right! If I was a conservative why would've I voted for a social-democratic party in Canada's last elections?
@Vantastic4thewin i think the point Michele was trying to make was that in the evil communist Cuba they give there people health care, and Cuba decided to help them to make them selves look better. probably that's how i see it
Excellent documentary and a strong, very strong message. I love America, I've been over there twice and loved every second of it, but when it comes to social aspects of a country, I feel very lucky to be a European.
I'm quite proud of the NHS. I know it's far from perfect but for me I feel that supporting it and paying into it is a real form of patriotism. I think it is a more deep rooted form of patriotism rather than waving a flag and tell people you love your country.
finally. i found people like me. i believe in socialism and i could never find anyone else like me. its nice to know that some ware there are people that want socialism. all of you that live in other countries you are all lucky. dont take it for granted, because socialism is amazing compared to capitalism.
I moved to the wrong country... should've picked Canada or UK. Even when I was unemployed in Mexico and had no 'socialized' health care, I had acces to a cheaper private health care without insurance! I just had cataract surgery here, thanks to a volunteer doctor working at a free clinic. He sent me to his eye clinic and I paid $3000 for the surgery. but I would've paid less than $300 in Mexico. Can you believe that?? >:^(
Cousins across the pond in the STATES....99.9% of you are great and honourable people, but you Must RISE UP and take your country back from the Robbing capitalist that have taken it from You
In most of the western world, the government still do control people way too much but seeing this I kind of see USA as the extreme. Hope they get something like the NHS too soon.
A lot of us in other counties need to watch this movie so we can know how good we have it. I live in Canada and have to go to the hospital a lot for different medical problems. I get mad when I hear people in my country complain about our healthcare. I hope that someday our US brothers and sisters can experience the freedom of being able to walk into the hospital and not have to worry about how they are going to pay to live, or what their government thinks their life is worth. <3 you all.
I am not an American but still I love the US so much that I even buyed the US flag to hang it in my room. I am truly sad by seeing this... The country that I loved so much, who does this to its own people.. Damn those companies and the damn government who have no heart and only think about money. Too bad.. what a pity
@App2587 i was the same way, im from the uk. but for years i was in love with the american dream and thought about the possibilities of living in america. even if only for a few years, i ignored the realities of life there till i found out about the healthcare system. which would make living there for less then a year or anytime impossible if i got sick i am now out of love with america and will only ever visit for a month at maximum
I actually feel sorry for Americans, that they are forced into a system like this, and then told they are the best in the world and that anything else is evil :/ what I find strange is that a country with such high gun ownership+violence that theyre protests, are such small affairs, I.e. France, UK . lower gun but not afraid to protest (I hope occupy works and a better solution can be reached.) ..out.
People actually mock universal healthcare when they live with that kind of system? Sure, every system will have some flaws, but doesn't it make sense to go with the less flawed until the perfect system can be developed? My worst experience was waiting in the ER for hours with a torn knee, but they were dealing with a huge car accident, 2 elderly people with alzheimers, and several teens with severe alcohol poisoning, and those are just the people I overheard signing in after my xray.
these corporate and political fucker have ruined our country and now american ppl are suffering because we feel as though we need the gov and they KNOW IT.
watching this and hearing these ppls stories just pisses me off. i dnt u derstand how some ppl can be soo selfish and nt care about anyone but themselves
Only in America can people devolve into an "every man for himself" health care system, all in the name of personal wealth. It's just sad. -__-
