This is my next Telecaster project. I'll get me an Ash Telebody, expand the neck pup route for a Strat pickup and make another route for the the middle pup. Then get me an Esquire pickguard. Great sound scheme!
I once saw a picture of a Fender guitar simply called the Stealth, it had a Jaguar/Jazzmaster body and a blank pickguard, with 4 pickups underneath. Does anyone know anything about this instrument?
I'm a little confused about the wiring? Is the bridge setting wired like an esquire or like a normal tele with the nocaster pickup sounding like an esquire?
sounds stupid but put some coins on your pole pieces and be amazed that you still hear some sound, however more quiet.
Perhaps this pickguard is a special design which won't cut of output, or the middle and neck pickup might be a little hotter to compensate for the loss
Amen to that, I usually disconnect the tone knob from the bridge on my teles to get that esquire tone for leads, but i still have the neck PU for rhythm.
Andy, how much does the pickguard over top of the pickups impede their volume & signal? I have Lace Sensor Reds --- high output pups like Texas Specials --- would you think they'd be loud enough through the plastic? (I can't take their covers off like you can with traditional Strat pickups.)
As if you didnt already have my respect Andy, You have forever earned my love and admiration due to your badass playin of "Here Comes Your Man" by the Pixies ( if you have never listened to them do it now)
They just never felt right from day one. I prefer the dynamics and multiple string plucking style over shredding. BTW, the intro was used with a pick :)
@ProGuitarShopDemos So wait, does Andy control the PGS Youtube account and just enjoy referring to himself in the third person now and then (god knows we've all thought about doing it), or are all these replies posted by multiple people? Is this actually some kind of government conspiracy? Does Andy even really exist AT ALL?! Please answer me Andy/anonymous PGS employee/CIA engineered Human-Alien hybrid. These are the burning questions that keep me awake at night.
Another great vid guys. Love it that you always mix between lead playing and just chugging out some chords. So few vids do that, i don't play twiddly Vai or Satch-style stuff. I get a better impression of a guitar from just hearing chords and a few riffs - and you guys always deliver :) thanx
Nice...but I just don't like the worn look. If I'm going to buy a guitar that looks 40 years old...I want it to be 40 years old. You have to earn those dings and knicks.
Cleary our man Andy is a master of the Jeff Beck "picks are for fairies" school of rock.
ON topic, though, that Esquire sounds amazing. I've always fancied the idea of a guitar with a Tele bridge pickup and Strat middle and neck pickups. I'll have to see about getting one made when I can afford it.
Awesome. I think I'm going to do this to my Esquire. What kind of delay is used in intro to the video, does anyone know? It sounds awesome.
