  • how can jeremy fit in an mx 5 im 6 foot 3 and 17 so pretty nimble and i have to play tetris to get in

  • I like the top comment but, If your considered to have and english car people will think you've got cash so we've taken your woman and we've left you at the starting line, US cars do have big powerful engines but they are designed to carry americans now 20,000 hp is now one horse. 39 of the cylinders contain refills of cola. 20 crackpipes ha that makes me laugh is it really for the foundation? and the flamethrower is a windproof lighter for the pipes.

  • The gran trusimo footage is on replay

  • actually we do have cold. chilling, icey snow winter in Japan.

  • @tokyocityrat i live in a country that's known for being cold, and it goes past 100°F in the summer. just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover...

  • Aston rapide

  • this is a one horse race. mclaren f1 ftw!

  • at least at the beginning

  • this more looks like a gran turismo 2 review

  • GRAN TURISMO!

  • love how he drives it like a bus!

  • SO OLD!!!! HIS PLAYING GRAN TURISMO 2 :))))

  • british cars are great

  • 16 people were named Julian

  • Since when do you get a Diablo on Gran Turismo 2?!

  • Trying not to sound like a typical utube pretend it all but here goes...I got to drive 2 rounds in the Lotus Cup (now Mini Cup) here in Australia (B grade that is - A grade raced Exiges) in a Elise for winning a state title in karting (did rubbish in the 2 rounds nothing came of it but had fun!). I now have a MX-5 NB and in my (not as founded as most people with track time) opinion the Elise is a better car. BUT it costs 4 times as much on the used car market, and it is not 4 time a better car!

  • @gnarkillkicksass If u look for mid-engine sports car look for Toyota mr-2 after 2000 - it has same engine as Lotus elise - toyota's 2zz-ge. Some parts are of course different, elise is supercharged, mr2 not, but u can get almost elise for good money. I had old mr2 and it was great car, but i would stay with mx-5 beacasue of its classic FR and it allows u to drift. Drifting in mid engine car is hard, but it gives lot of fun because its oversteering all the time.

  • @eszloeszlo The MR2 I've heard is a sweet machine, can't beat mid engine for hard core corner carving but I heard they have cooling issues and something like 20 litres of coolant to move from the front of the car to the back hence the pumps are often flat out. But either way I'd love to have a go at one.

  • Gran Turismo 2 = Best Racing Game Ever

  • i hate d advert ''the legends of king arthur'' sky...

  • Thumbs up for playing Gran Turismo 2

  • gran turismo 2 i think??

  • More wheel drive :D

  • This is actually very interesting simply because when Mazda was designing the Miata, they actually bought a few Lotus Elan's for "research & development". The similarities are very apparent between the two cars, despite being decades apart.

  • so basicly brittish ppl are so bad at building sports cars he has to clame a japonese car as one

  • boy paint jobs have come a long way since the 90s. These colors aren't just boring, they're FLAT.

  • Holy shite, Brits have no shame. Every possible rationalization given to 'inferior' design as a purposeful fancy. Now watch him bash a 300SRT or Corvette as "rubbish", implying any American who would admire them for their honest quality as oafs. But the roundabout giving the British credit for a Japanese design is breathtaking.

The British invented everything. Just ask a Brit.

  • @Engage777

it's a fucking TV show, get over it.

  • @JoshMufc101 Get over my dick.

  • @Engage777

I prefer German cars myself, but I think a good example of this hypocricy is how Jeremy says he hates every American car ever made... untill he sees a Ford GT. Then you need the combined strength of Richard and May to make him pull his *little john* out of the tailpipe.

  • @CheetahFoxx luckily it was British

  • @CheetahFoxx

But the Ford GT isn't an American car.

  • @Engage777 The Japanese designers were given the brief to design a version of a British roadster and they took their cue DIRECTLY from the Lotus Elan! If you didn't know that then you shouldn't be commenting on sports cars.Jeremy's point was that the British originated the idea of the small, affordable well designed, fun roadster.WHICH THEY DID!!

  • @coolsdon Bullshit. I was commenting on the British psyche...it makes no fucking difference what the product is; the Brits, hailing their long-past colonial crimes will find a way to thread ownership into anything, everything in the world they wish. Right? Even S&M is a British idea.

PS. Your crush on "Jeremy" is embarrassing for you.

  • @Engage777 No you weren't commenting on the British psyhce at all,you were making the point that Jeremy Clarkson was stating an untruth about the history behind the MX5 which I succintly put you right on.As with every other, not very bright yank, you don't have the grace to acknowledge when you're in the wrong.Would it be that Jags, Astons,Minis,LandroversRange Rovers,Bentleys,Lotus' Rolls etc sell around the world when NO ONE buys US cars other than, well,Americans? It's that 'J' word ain't it?

  • @coolsdon Read the copy, dolt: "Holy shite, Brits have no shame" was my FIRST comment. Can you fathom that my analysis results from numerous, like observations about conceited British? Who the hell says "I'm in the wrong" besides you?? Take some of that high and mighty "superior" intellect, re-read my post. BTW, Ford is 4th or 5th manufacturer worldwide.

Fire on back. Every tantrum you throw reinforces what everyone already believes about snarky Brits. It's no surprise you worship Clarkson.

  • @Engage777 Nice to see your arguement (such as it was) has run it's course. If you need any more FACTS re the car industry don't hesitste to get in touch!! By the way Ford US owes any of it's success in recent years to their European arm, which has bought them nearly all their profits.Which is why Focus,Mondeo, and Fiesta are all now available in the US.Models designed and built in Europe.Same with GM.But hey, Europe build the best cars in the world- period!!

  • @coolsdon There it is! Now Ford owes "absorbed" its car-making ability through osmosis from Europe (Read: owes it to "Brits") Once again, you reinforce the only fact I've been trying to establish: The Brits invented Everything...just ask a Brit.

Stay tuned kids, next we'll learn how England didn't really need the US in WWII, and oh, Mickey Mouse was born in Manchester.

  • @Engage777 What an astonishing thing for an American to say. I was on the Glenn Beck website the other day (can't help it, it's a kind of rubbernecking) and he claimed Americans invented the computer, the light bulb, the motion picture, tv, electricity and the car. It's all lies. They actually invented none of them. They were all invented by Europeans, most of them by British people. Look them up on wikipedia. Now that *was* invented by an American.

  • @Engage777 - It is so obvious you have just looked for something with British in the title on the BBC so you slag of Britain. I can not think how you could be a more obvious troll. If you watch American TV they are going to big up America and I am sure the same is true everywhere in the world - what is wrong with that? I would also add that Britain has 60 million people holding every ethnicity, life style and ideology you can image so to group them all together is just infantile.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Fuck off. Your empire is dead, your culture is dead, and 60 million Brits are just walking dead waiting for their grandkids to serve tea to their Pakistani overlords in two generations. You know it. I know it, and everyone on the planet knows it.

    dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1351251/Number-British-Muslims-double-5-5m-20-years.html

  • @Engage777 - Your empire? I can assure you I have never had an empire. Not everyone is a xenophobic nut job that thinks they are their nation. You mentioned inventions, well you no more invented the light bulb than I did. They're not your achievements to boast on.

I am in a mixed race marriage, with non white children and I would be delighted if we had an non white leader of Britain. I don't judge people by their skin but by their character. Oh and that newspaper supported fascism in the past.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Interracial couples are awesome.

Also, anybody who quotes or references the Daily Mail is clearly a fucking moron. What a rag.

  • @BIuejay - Thanks the guys just a troll but if you respond and never lose your temper or getting defensive then they just bury themselves. I know people that use the Daily Mail as a source on multiculturalism slay me. This is a newspaper that support fascist leader Mosley for Prime Minister before the war. If they had there way our nation would have been on Hitlers side, I can't believe anyone buys that rag.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Weak-ass response. I bet you've got a tear in your eye right now.

  • @Engage777 - A real man doesn't need to try to prove himself on YouTube. Have an enjoyable evening trolling though, but excuse me if I rise above all that nonsense.

  • Looks like the Miata's a tried and true simple formula, but I'm a bit surprised Clarkson wasn't asking for more power while driving it. When Jaguar gave him an XKR with "only" 420hp, he said he's wished it had more....I guess faster isn't always better in clarkson's book....

  • 1:45 Oh that's how his teeth got so brown.

  • a diablo in gt2? No, just no.

  • Clarkson is funny to the max! Sure broke out of the British TV host mold, him. I just wish he could see past America's problems, and just shut up about us. Or is that a facade? :P

  • @the06bug

    nobody is safe from clarkson,

i think its funny though, dont take any offence and he is the best tv character

  • BBCWorldwide m.sn in profile

  • GT2 best racecar game EVAR!!!

  • 14 people eat there shoes!

  • is that gt3?

  • LOL stop at 4:59 and the kid with the ball was like : " Wtf are you doing? Get another ass to smell"

  • for a moment there Clarkson as he was blasted by wind looked like the Intro to the Genesis Version of Test drive 2,. " BALLISTIC PRESENTS!"

  • guess what, theyre chocolate shoes

  • lol he overtook a vector not a diablo

  • Man I haven't thought of the old GT games in years.

  • gm owns OLOL

  • Ahh, good old British Sports Cars. Had several, and can still recall that company logo on everything electrical.....Lucas....the Prince of Darkness.

  • I love British Supercars and Sportcars!!! Mini, Mclaren, Aston, Jag, Bentley, Noble, Rolls-Royce, Lotus, Caterham, Healey, Ginetta, Ford (British), Ariel, Land Rover, Mg, Quaife, Triumph, Austin, Morris, AC, Ascari, Vauxhall, Caparo, Westfield, Daimler, De Lorean, Radical... The list goes like for ever!!!

  • hahahaha you're not playing the game who are you trying to fool?! :D:D:D

  • its not british because it does not leak oil on the driveway and it has electronics that work

  • 14 People who watched this are tossers.

  • ITS A FUCK TRUCK ;)

    jeremy clarkson has awful hair

  • Gran turismo ftw?

  • Woah, what a takedown at 4:55! Hardcore!

  • Gotta love his specs

  • the best british sports car its a japonese car that just says it all about british sports cars lolololol funny how british teach japoneses to make cars and then they do it so much better than british lololol

  • Comment removed

  • @pn83 Your opinion is much like my arse hole, it stinks.

  • @MrCheeseface1000 go drive your british sport car with a gear box from a truck and engines that past 5 years are "dead" of power i bet all british sports cars owners have a mechanic friend lolol

  • Comment removed

  • @pn83 Oh yes you are right i agree, i also think that Portugal has really changed the face of motoring as we know it .

  • @pn83 My Wolseley still works fine, As with all old cars they sometimes break down, just look at Italian sportscars, same problem.

  • Lol @ 00:12s the car he passed was a Vector W12- not a Diablo, cos Lamborghini has never been in any Gran Turismo game

  • British cars really are the best, my favourite is the Jaguar.

  • Stinks that the new miata looks awful.

  • There is nothing british about the Mazada Miata, he is lying through his teeth.

  • @hicksjh - Wow, you're a smart one. He said it has the ingredients of a British sports car.

  • @hicksjh Actually, your wrong; read my comment to figure out why...

  • it as complicated as "wood" :)

  • I'm sick of republican ads, make you lose 10 IQ points every time you see one. Eventually, then, you'll become one yoursefl. Perhaps that's their grand master plan...

  • love MG

  • The funny part is that the Miata was partially designed after the Triumph Spitfire/MG Midget, which are British.

  • No car tells your sexual status. If you want a car with "balls" become a big obnoxious American.. and move to... Texas... and buy a Dodge Ram. A Miata would probably beat it.

  • Whats funny is he is pretending to play the game, when it clearly says Replay in the bottom left corner.

  • @DrakeSpartan Well honestly, it would be hard to drive from outside the car, so I can see your point.

  • @DrakeSpartan Actually There Are Parts Where He Watches The Replay And Parts Where He Actually Races

  • @DrakeSpartan hahhahahaah

  • @DrakeSpartan and hes jerkin the wheel back and forth which never makes for good driving

  • It does not need an electric roof, it would only add weight. The tops on those are so well designed it takes almost no effort to reach behind you at a stop light and put the top up. Of course unlike the British equivalent, they did not leak, they did not have Lucas electricals, so they did not catch on fire and no British Leyland involvement (or lack there of).

  • come on jullian over take this yellow car lol

  • i love GT2's replays

  • Great Mx-5...like all of them..

  • it is a replay lol

  • complicated as wood.

    win.

  • he so did not eat his shoe

  • @Mishka1012

    he so did

  • aahhh....the good old days

  • a British car my ass. So the first car was German, which means all cars in the world are Germans

  • @HD2009Muscle He's not saying it's a British car you fool! Listen to what he says. The formula of which the car is made is very much British in the way Britain made sports-cars!

  • @Zenkchi99 Watch your tongue kid. All people know that Clarkson is biased and he thinks everyting good in the world is British, but since you're Britsh too I can't argue. I like topgear, but I half the things they say is BS. use your own head "fool" and learn to think for yourself.

  • @HD2009Muscle Clarkson was actually onto a good point with his comment about the Miata being "British". You should read my comment for a brief explanation.

  • what's the song at 2:31

  • the only problem is that you can't think of a good 20th century british sports cars triumph stag marcos aston martin db5 lotus elan mg/rover Jensen heally tvr the hatcback killed the british sports car thumbs up if you want some millionares to buy back the british car manufacteur and make them in britain
  • wow the miata is the"full british breakfast" here we call them a gay mans car.....from him i am not suprised.

  • @MrGovernment2012 It was incredibly fashionable back in the day. Not so much anymore.

  • @MrGovernment2012 Have you ever drove a miata on a track?

  • @knowsall101 no i am 6 foot 3 inches so i cannot even begin to try to fit that little thing, they do have alot of power for their size but reguardless of that kinda gay.I will stick with my r33...

  • @MrGovernment2012 you still haven't explained why its gay.......if you drive one on a track you will have much respect for that car

  • wow he want's a slower car?, fuck that mo par

  • 2:31 Clarkson+Housemartins+Elise=WIN

  • 1:30, he really has to stop making these bets..

  • Come on Julian, overtake this yellow car!

  • But i think Honda S2000 is! Mazda's good but that honda is much better!

  • the mazda mx5 is not a british car clarkson was saying that it was the best definition of a british sports car

  • There's no Diablo in GT2...

  • @RunLikeHellIV yeah haha, straight past the Lotus Esprit is what he meant to say

  • fuck you clarkson that's my name

  • I LOVE GRAN TURISMO!!! but he was playing on replay mode, lol... Lotus Elise is the best car ever (Besides the Bugatti Veyron)

  • I can't bealive that Mazda Miata MX5 is now an English car

  • @EliteWalkers01

Didn't Ford have majority stake in Mazda for a bit?

  • @EliteWalkers01

It isn't... but it's based on one and Mazda has never hidden the fact, that the MX-5 from the start was supposed to be Japanese version of the classic Lotus Elan.

  • Ummm. I'll stick with the elise. But the mx5 is a close second.

  • forgot to add Jaguar :)

  • brits make shit for cars??? Really??? Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Ascari, Caterham, Noble, Ariel .....enough said.

  • There aren't any Diablos in Gran Turismo 2 haha

  • The MX-5 is the quintessential sports car. HOWEVER,and this may be just an American phenomena... its gay. Not in a pejorative fashion as in "that bad tv show is SO ghey". No, I mean that a disproportionate amount of gay people own one. Again, might be U.S. thing. Here, few heterosexual men seem to want one, despite it's refined and sporty ride. Women and gay men though LOVE them though. Just an observation on my part, no offense to the gay community.

  • @starstarstar42 Think I agree.

  • @starstarstar42 I'm not gay and I love my 96 Miata...

  • @trancedsailor As I said, a few straight men do want one. Autophiles know it to be a timeless roadster. My point is that, for reasons I myself can not fathom, the majority of men I see driving one also have a rainbow or Lambda bumper sticker on the vehicle. I reiterate this is not any kind reflection on anyone's lifestyle, it is merely an observation on my part. In fact, if someone would like to explain to me why this is, I'd be happy to listen.

  • @starstarstar42 I guess it's just one of those things in life that are, for lack of a better phrase, ass-backwards.

  • @trancedsailor

I'm not gay and i love my NA6CE

  • @starstarstar42

really??? thats such a shame. I feel bad for all the people who care too much, because they are seriously missing out on the great fun this car has to offer for such a reasonable price.

I know mazda is trying really hard to make this car to appeal to more masculine customers and you can tell by the newer generations and facelifts of this car. I'm sure one day it'll eventually appeal to you, and hopefully they'll still keep it's original recipe.

  • @starstarstar42

Guys out here consider their cars an extension of their masculinity. They dont want a fast, light, finely crafted little beeper. Guys want something big, heavy, scary, and loud so they can both attract mates and scare off rival males. They want a 20,000 hp 40 cylinder engine in an M1 Abrams with 20 pipes that shoot fire so far out the back it torches cars behind it and noise that cracks every foundation in a 3mi radius complete with the working cannon that's also a flame thrower.

  • @CheetahFoxx Hell yeah! lol

  • @CheetahFoxx Don't forget the cupholders...

  • @bewaver Yes, there would be a small set for holding the 66oz super glug mtn. dew made to change a healthy person into a morbidly obese diabetic after one cup. and a set of 2 large freon cooled brackets in the back for holding beer kegs. Of course Abrams would say they're only for "transporting" and that they are not responsible if drivers/passengers decide to have a drink while on the road.

  • @CheetahFoxx 4 cylinders enogh and guy dont want pipe that shoots out fire if it does shoot out fire that means theres its burning oil

  • @lnwswollow Actually, I never liked those 4cyl bumblebees or those lumbering bare big block elephants called "muscle cars". I want something that uses a large engine built for racing in a car that can actually go around corners and has a sleek and sophisticated look. I My ideal would be a twin turbo Mercedes SL600 or the new Audi R8. And fire comes out the pipes when the engine is hot and very rich.

  • @CheetahFoxx Little Beeper? Lol Ascari A10 could beat any of your crap!

  • @MrStig691 Let me make something clear: Yes, that is what Americans want, except for me. Weight is not conducive to speed. I think a fine example of how to make a fast car can be seen in the Bristol fighter T. My car is a Nissan Z32, my dream car is a Gumpert Apollo Race, and I bet a Miata roadster would be a fun little thing to zip around in. I hate big lumbering "muscle" cars. that run away with their skirts held high at the sight of a turn like a teenage girl at the sight of a mouse.

  • @CheetahFoxx I just sold a Bristol I had for 10 years, I once went for a drive with tony crook in a fighter...Im for Bristol all the way.

  • @MrStig691 Although, honestly, if I had that much money I would'nt get either of those cars. I would build myself a DR 107 "One Design" and fit it with a 200+hp Lycoming TIO360 engine and an automatic prop. Not even a veyron would get close to what that can do.

  • @starstarstar42

i find women love them too!

but i dont really see any gay guys, just mid life crisis guys and hot chicks!!

  • Realy the 3.0liter bentley from 1925 is the best british sports car of all time or the ford gt40:))

  • @blauandqiraa Right, because Ford is actually British. Damn how they lie.

  • @Losi52 Although Ford is American, the GT40 project is British. if you don't believe me, check wikipedia and search for the GT40, then read the history section.

  • @andydale78 No, I believe you. Still wouldn't have happened with out American Ford. Either way...great car. Probably my top favorite in looks.

  • @andydale78

Totally right, the GT40 was developed by British racing car company...Lola

  • the ascari a10 best british sports car, still hold second fastest lap on top gear :D

  • its an idiot

  • Based on this clip I have just bought a Black Mx-5, Zoom Zoom Zoom, LOL

  • love this game ahh ps1

  • 50/50 balance. F/R set up. shifts good. i'd take any MX-5 anyday.

  • can some one tell me the name of the song at 2:30 please?

    Cheers

  • @SardarDholi its by the house martins called happy hour

  • @kenward5876 Cheers mate

  • "Bit chilly? Well, you're British for heaven's sake! Wear a hat!" LOL! Jeremy Clarkson is a God!

  • That man has got the best job in the world!!

  • que chet

  • Not hating, that's not me. I'm just stating facts about a lot of people in this country. Nobody brings up Bmw's and benz' crappy reliability but people always harp on american car's interiors? There are many well engineered cars that get imported to this country. How much of that is actually used? I've been to europe when I was in the military so I go by what i've seen.

  • btw-when i said shitty econoboxes, I was talking about ALL econoboxes, not just europe's. There great for the city and necessary today, but I can't stand them!

  • @42ph, a fool of myself? ru serious captain planet? The fact is, their reality is not ours. This country cannot run on little boxes you can barely carry luggage in. It's so funny when these conversations come up, people bring up european cars that only a few can afford. Sure, they are great cars, but many are niche cars. As far as design goes, I think our interiors are way behind but our exteriors have been pretty good.

  • @donnis618

haha, you just don't get it.

The best selling car in the USA for the last 10 years is Japnese, 2nd best? Also Japanese... And as for European cars, America buys more German and Italian cars than Germany or Italy do! However no one in Europe or Japan buys American cars. Figure that one out...

Also don't confuse Jeremy Clarkson with everyone in Britain (a common US mistake), the MX5 is well known as a hairdressers car. And finally some trivia for you, this clip is 10 years old.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou Actually, I do get it. 1)How many american cars actually go overseas because of these trade laws?. Not many. 2) Americans buy german and italian cars because of the brand name, just like everything else. 3) as far as best selling cars, there's no accounting for taste!!!LOL. I guess they like crappy styling and sticking gas pedals!!LOL

  • 1) American laws are far more strict about importing cars into the US, many things must be changed like additional indicators front and rear etc. It's not the other way round. Almost every US car launched here doesn't sell.

    2) Americans buy European cars because they like them, there is no trickery involved. They test both and choose for themselves.

    3) Taste is subjective of course, but good engineering? not so much...

    4) Don't hate on an entire continent, it'll only make you bitter!

  • sooo... The best british sports car is made in japan. I wouldn't brag about that. Do the british make sports cars for the common man any more? It's so funny when these guys dog out American cars (and others) when the brits make shit for cars. All there favorites are from germany and italy. Has anyone been to europe? Most of the population drives shitty econoboxes.

  • The main reason why most american car companies have major financial and economical reasons is because they are out of touch with any modern car design trend for the last 20 or so years.

Thost "econoboxes" you are taling about drive better and more ecologically - thats GOOD.

Don't get me wrong, I lived in Detroit and hugely enjoyed driving cadillacs, chevys and jeeps (oh yeah) - but dont go on about european cars being shitty ...

dont make a fool of yourself!
