If you see the scenes in context you all would realize that the scene serves the plot in that in ends up being the unveiling of John Book to the rest of the world. The Philly cops who killed the other cop were looking for Ford's character and found him after they traced the report of violence back to the police. Amish violence? Yeah, kind of a red flag. I won't give away the ending for those of you who haven't seen it, but its a great film. The ultimate message? Violence solves nothing.

Amish is a class of people which reside in U.K & USA & are around 350000 in no. They are bearded with no moustache.
