It's not a Desktop Search, but an "instant-search" (another family of search tools) that indexes only filename and not the properties, tags etc. though.
With Windows Desktop Search it's possible to find for example an MP3 specifying the time-length or a mail from your friend when you remember just a word in the body, and many more: microsoft.c om\windows\products\winfamily\ desktopsearch\technicalresources\advquery.mspx
@rolloLG I wasn't aware there existed such a fine distinction between the two, but you're right, Everything uses the raw Master File Table on NTFS drives to locate files.
