@make366 actually you are wrong the i3 530 is a very good mid range cpu it can run any game very quickly and gets the job done so i don't know what ur saying by that and besides you could have easily upgraded to i5 750 or 760 instead of getting 2500k and having to get new motherboard
it may look s**t from the outside, but the virtually it can cool my cpu 23 degrees celcius. I play sc2 sometimes and other and this does cool very well does not go over 50 degrees celcius
stock cooling may look s**t from the outside, but the virtually it cools my cpu 23 degree celcius and i sometimes i play games with it and still it does go above 60 degrees celcius :)
hey when i eventually get this processor, would u recommend this type of aftermarket cooler for it. my intention is to get one that is a low rpm rate but can still cool it down pretty well so that i can have a silent computer.
its only wussy cos the 750 produces such a tiny amount of heat when not overclocked. if you are buying the 750 you should want to overclock it.. but still.. its perfectly reasonable for a stock cooler i think.
what is faster because im getting a desktop to replace my laptop ??? my laptop is a dell studio 1557 with the intel core i7 720 qm at 1.6 ghz with 4 or 6mb cache 4 gb ddr3 ram 512 mb ati mobility radeon hd 4570 and 320 gb hard drive . my planned new pc.... Dell inspiron 580 Has intel core i5 750 @ 2.66 ghz 8 mb smart cache 4 gb ddr3 1333 mhz ram ati radeon hd 5450 1gb and 1 tb hard drive... which is better at everyday things and light gaming like gta4 v and sims 3 ?
@EddieLolz3r no. the x6 1055t is at the level of a i5 750/i7 920 in games, but that's because the games aren't optimised for 6 cores yet. but in multi-applications and future wise the x6 1055t is way better: it's cheap, it's efficient, and it's gonna be more and more powerful for the incoming games
@DSTDave lol i dont think the mugger would know what he/she was mugging. he would most prolly just steal the producers watch and wallet, leaving the i5 and heatsink alone-- xD. unless he's a supersmart hyper geeky mugger, and knows heaps about computers O.O
one cuestion. i from argentina. ^my english is bad. ....î have Intel Core i5 750 Quad Core LGA1156 Processor with 4 gb ddr3, asusp7p55d le, is a good machine for gamer computers?
just got it yesterday. highly satisfied. i personally think u could get i5 750 if u are just gaming. the difference between i7 860 , 920 with i5 750 in terms of gaming is not big. some of the games i5 750 do outperform i7 860 and 920 with 2-3% benchmark while i7 outperform i5 750 in some games. if u are getting it for rendering or ht then i7 definetly ur choice
@LP64071 I actually got into a mini-argument over this very question... and it was only ended when myself and another i5-750 owner ended up sending each other pictures of our respective (retail box) processors. My stock heatsink came with 3 strips of thermal paste evenly applied and his had a tube of some cheap thermal grease. Either way, you got everything you need in the retail box to get going.
Some benchmarks show gaming performance increases when hyperthreading is disabled. It's not a huge different, but it does seem counter-intuitive. Unless you're heavy into video editing, you won't miss hyperthreading.
I bought my i5-750 back in October and don't regret it AT ALL. Effortless OC to 3.6 GHz and outstanding gaming performance. If you've got ~$200 to spend on a CPU, this is the one to get. If you're limited to less than that, AMD has some sweet CPUs in the $150-185 range.
@rodneyws1977 this is one of the most value for money processor currently...and the p55 is a great chipset...but i think that cpu will not give a very large improvement. but there are some games that are CPU demanding like L4D2 and GTA 4...well the phenon II 555 BE is also great...but i dont like amd chipset...heard that processors would make diff only in multi GPU configuration...what do you think?
@CRW5900 If your budget can handle a $200 CPU without cutting corners on the GPU, the i5-750 is the way to go. If taking the i5-750 makes you downgrade from a 5800 series card to a 5700 series card, well... you're better off taking an AMD CPU in order to keep the faster GPU.
My specs... i5-750, ATI 5850, 8 GB OCZ Platinum, on an Asus Maximus III Gene motherboard.
i7 doesn't make much of a difference if your gaming. the only major difference is hyper threading which basically makes your computer act like its eight-core instead of quad-core. only useful during 3D imaging and blu-ray movie making. for gaming its useless towards performance and makes your computer heat up like crazy.
I dont give a shit about value, I dont like the 1366 Socket. and the i5 is too weak for me. I wouldve went with 870 but i spend that extra 300 on some other shit.
you could get the GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD4 its kinda cheap about $149 it has 2 pci-e 16 2.0 that runs at SLI/CrossFireX 8x 8x now if you want to run at x16-x16 you would want to go for a x58 board that's the only board that i know of that does x16 x16 which cost about $300-400 but you would need a core i7 920 or higher. hope i helped
Does someone know if I can overclock this to arround 4.5Ghz? Or is it maybe just as awesome as others on clock speed and do I have to buy another mobo to got on 4Ghz?
err...yes the mobo is important but i dont think 750 could go past 4.5 because of voltage and TDP limitations....and if you getting such a processor best if dont use H55.....the PCI lane could only do x8 and no multiple GPU....H55 is a stripped down version of P55
#64bitgfx, If its a motherboard with 1156 pins youll have to get a processor with 1156 pins, and if its a motherboard with 1366 pins or whatever, youll have to get one with 1366. (I7)
before i bought my Zalman CPU cooler i had that stock heatsink for a while, about 2 months & it actually surprised me how well it did. Not overclocked obviously.but it works a lot better than it looks
well I just mean in comparison, like you take a Core i7 920 system that gets 60 fps with everything maxed out in GTA IV, and get the same parts, besides the motherboard and ram, and use the same video card, and switch to the i5 750.
Considering memory isn't as important as most people think. It is important, but the difference between 4GB DDR3 1333 mhz, and 6 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz is negligible.
So using relatively the same components, they should perform pretty similarly right?
no but my secondary rig has an i7 860 and I've tinkered around with it with HT turned off and performance is quite comparable to my i7 920 in my primary rig. The two machines are actually quite similar in terms of spec as well. One has GTX 260 SLI and 12GB RAM, and the other has a 4870 X2 and 8GB of RAM.
No. I run a 30" monitor, and I'm not willing to go any lower than 24", so I'll be waiting for a 24" 120Hz monitor.
Even after that though, I don't think I will invest in a 3D Vision kit. I'm one of the people that gets a splitting headache from using it for even a minute.
I have quite a few co-workers who don't get that effect though, so it might be just me.
120Hz is worth it even without 3D Vision though. Can't wait for it to become standard.
Oh my lord this ADHD high-voiced faggot is the most annoying person I have seen in any video. Throwing the shit around like its nobodies business and opening it just to play with it?

I can't get a straight answer on it, all I wanna know, is if I got this CPU, can I Max out ANY game? and not notice a slowdown.
1981z28camaro 2 years ago
The CPU is not the only contributing factor. That's why you cannot get a "straight answer".
If you buy a Core i5 750 and run it with 1GB of RAM and a GeForce 8200, then your gaming experience will suck.
If you run it with an SSD, 8GB of RAM, a Radeon 5970, then your gaming experience will be awesome.
LinusTechTips 2 years ago
well I just mean in comparison, like you take a Core i7 920 system that gets 60 fps with everything maxed out in GTA IV, and get the same parts, besides the motherboard and ram, and use the same video card, and switch to the i5 750.
Considering memory isn't as important as most people think. It is important, but the difference between 4GB DDR3 1333 mhz, and 6 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz is negligible.

no but my secondary rig has an i7 860 and I've tinkered around with it with HT turned off and performance is quite comparable to my i7 920 in my primary rig. The two machines are actually quite similar in terms of spec as well. One has GTX 260 SLI and 12GB RAM, and the other has a 4870 X2 and 8GB of RAM.

Cool, do you got the 3D Vision kit for your SLI rig? :-)
1981z28camaro 2 years ago

Yeah, I know what you mean about getting a headache, I got that too, mind you I was just use crappy red & blue glasses.
but after a couple days of playing, I stopped getting headaches, so I think your brain just needs to get use to it, lol
I personally don't mind sacrificing monitor size for 3D Vision tho, but it would be a bonus if you could use 3D Vision on a larger monitor for sure.
I hope ATI eventually adopts 3D Vision too.

I don't think 3D Vision is coming to ATI any time soon. They are more focused on Eyefinity right now than stereoscopic 3D. I could be wrong though.

I'm more into 3D Vision myself, everyone's different, I think I will stick with Nvidia for this reason. :-)

Oh my lord this ADHD high-voiced faggot is the most annoying person I have seen in any video. Throwing the shit around like its nobodies business and opening it just to play with it?

That stock cooler is DINKY AS HELL! But it looks A LOT DINKIER in person. Intel needs to start designing some REAL heatsinks for their CPUs.

I never used Intel's stock cooler; I just put the biggest Zalman I can fit into the case ;)
