When Trevor met Chris & Alan in England played together and formed Cinima, Trevor had no desire to join Yes in fact he apposed the idea but when Anderson fell all over himself over the almost completed Cinima he moved quickly to add his touch and the label demanded the Yes name restarted all Trevor could do was call it 90125Live. Now Trevor's working with Steven Speilberg making history ... not bad .... Steve Howe who ? he is an outstanding guitarist but i put my doe on the educated Rabin
Rabin is good, no doubt, and an excellent composer. But go back to Howe in his prime, CTTE, Topogric Oceans, Relayer. His studio work tended to be precise... regulated even, so I suggest the live performances when he often let go. The Queens Park video is a classic example. Consider also that Howe never really broke into the digital age so much of what he does now days seems a bit antiquated in approach. No dis. He's just from a different generation with different influences and techniques.
When is Rabin intending to hang up the soundtrack composition hat and get back into his real R&R shoes? I really miss seeing him perform and releasing albums.
Fully agreed and with all due respect to Howe for his initial compositions while getting Yes into the Limelight. I love the early stuff as much as the (80's) new, yet it's another point to Rabin's existance for reviving them during the very troublesome period post the Drama album. Hence, the record company for not pushing this record enough as great as it was! I personally prefer Rabin's work vs, Howe's which is more contemporary along with his fusion-esque cut-through McLachlan passages.
ahhhh...those were the days when the band did everything!!! No gimmicks, behind the stage tricks etc...The Real McCoy!!
Trevor was the best guitarist and composer in YES hands down!!! I love Howe as well, but Trevor brought back the blood this band needed in the early 80's!!!
While I share your sentiments for Rabin, especially for reviving my favorite band, I must point out that it was Anderson, Squire and Howe that wrote the classic Yes "...Sunrise", CTTE, You & I, "Tales..." and "..."Delirium", without which the name Yes would not have the meaning it did by the time Rabin and Chris reormed the band. That is in NO WAY way meant to diminish Rabin's work, but to point out that the unique Yes sound, character and most of their classic were written long before him.
With all respect, Trevor Rabin hasn't spent a single second in the studio with Yes in 16 years. That's a long time to be still arguing about it. The last new material with Steve was 8 years ago. Rabin, Howe, Squire, Downes & White appeared live in 2004 as Yes and it was a great performance that Rabin and Howe both obviously relished. They and Squire took an arm-in-arm bow together as brothers at the end of their performance. Why can't the fans let it go? The band obviously did.

@stolendolin See, this is exactly what is wrong with people who call themselves Yes fans and then go about dissing one side or the other. No thanks.
