Not every person who worships "daemons" or Satan wears colored contacts, dyes their hair black, or performs rituals. There are extremists in every religion around the world, not just Satanism. There's definitely nothing wrong with that, showing passion in whatever you believe in.

I'm not sure how one can call a religion "philosophical". Philosophy is the /rational/ investigation of truths and certain principles; religion is certainly not rational in the sense that, for the most part, reason (or science) cannot prove that Jesus or Satan exists. What about heaven? Can science, rational thought, or philosophy tell us what is proper to believe and what should be shunned?

@RevJohn No, he never did consider himself as a Satanist. He was friends with Anton Lavey and influenced by some of his philosophies, but he is equally influenced by a multitude of other philosophies (e.g. Nietzsche, Sartre). He's even influenced by Christian philosophy to some extent.

@Nguli34689 As publicist, Ed Webber laid the groundwork. Got LaVey hooked up with interviews, TV, newspapers and even motion pictures. When he requested payment from LaVey for his services, he was snubbed. Webber had no legal recourse because it was an oral agreement - he was basically screwed. Jack Webb, Kenneth Anger and Wesley Mather gave Anton inspiration, words of encouragement and moral support, but nothing more.

I'm not sure how one can call a religion "philosophical". Philosophy is the /rational/ investigation of truths and certain principles; religion is certainly not rational in the sense that, for the most part, reason (or science) cannot prove that Jesus or Satan exists. What about heaven? Can science, rational thought, or philosophy tell us what is proper to believe and what should be shunned?

@RevJohn No, he never did consider himself as a Satanist. He was friends with Anton Lavey and influenced by some of his philosophies, but he is equally influenced by a multitude of other philosophies (e.g. Nietzsche, Sartre). He's even influenced by Christian philosophy to some extent.

This is incorrect. Satanism is in fact a religion because one chooses oneself as their own god. A "God" is anything that you claim as superior to all things in reality that which you exalt to the highest respect. It is not "Philosophical Satanism". Satanism is Satanism. There is not other "branch" or "sect". It is a religion, a way of life, and a natural way of being rather than trying to be. The demons are addressed in ritual for emotional stimulation purposes.

When he requested payment from LaVey for his services, he was snubbed. Webber had no legal recourse because it was an oral agreement - he was basically screwed. Jack Webb, Kenneth Anger and Wesley Mather gave Anton inspiration, words of encouragement and moral support, but nothing more.
