Thanks for taking the time to actually mic it up properly dude!!! There are a lot of other vids where people are just using the camera mic- which kind of defeats the whole purpose of making the vid..
This video (2 years ago) made me go buy my Bogner Uberschall, no sh*t its true, my Mesa Roadking and 2channel Dual Rectifier can't keep up. This amp is so tough it beats me up regularly and leaves me deaf. Thanks man, keep that cugging slow dark metal coming.
@SlaughterSwitchBlade Mesa is a bit bigger sounding and also a bit boomier sounding at especially at lower volumes. That bass can be tamed though, and as you increase the volume goes away. FTR, I have mine right on the floor (no casters) so floor coupling could be the reason for this...I just haven't been worried about it. It's also heavier (in weight) and completely closed backed.
@SlaughterSwitchBlade The framus is a bit tighter and less boomy. It also weighs a bit less and is easier to carry due to the recessed handles on the sides (as opposed to the Mesa which has only a handle on the top). It also has the added versatility of being able to convert to an open back cab if you so desire. The downside is that the tolex is like paper and scuffs if you even look at it wrong.
I prefer the Mesa for what I'm doing, but the Framus is a nice cab. Can't go wrong with either!
@chadsux however the framus tolex BLOWS and will lift quickly like a marshall. I don't care because I think beat looking gear is sweet but a lot of people do care.
@belowtherise Agreed. You can't breathe on it the wrong way without getting a mark, haha. I somehow managed to keep mine fairly mark free before I sold it. I was pretty proud of myself for that.
What are you recording with? Mixer, Interface? Are you using any pre-amps. I'm buying an e609 and then an e906 to mic a Mesa Boogie, just curious as to what you are using.
the 609 sounds great on the Uber! The amp is heavy w/ the Presence off, good tone here. (don't be afraid of the pres knob though, I keep mine on noon-2 oclock live for more cut)
Very well actually! I just bought a 2007 Uberschall from a Craigslist ad and am very happy with it! After playing with it for a few days now, it can give you amazing classic rock tones as well as as the "brutal metal" tone that it's known for! I'll probably be hated for saying it but, I traded a 1973 Marshall JMP 50 watt head for the Bogner and I can get everything it provided plus more! Call me crazy, but it seems to be the perfect amp for me!! - Best of all worlds!
it sounds good for heavy rockim not a fan of them for like 70s rock but go listen to the city of evil album from avenged sevenfold thats al done with an uberschall
Since it's such a high quality amp, it sounds great for nearly anything. However, it's simply not voiced for that kind of music. You'd do better to get an Ecstasy, or depending on the type of rock you play, maybe an Alchemist.
I do get them customized, but no one amp will cover all the different voicings...I will say that the Bogners I have cover clean to mean quite well. Real excited about the new Uber...the 20th XTC is incredible!
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of it. I'm planning on going back to a SM57 or even an Audix I5.
As far as placement goes...well, I guess it depends on your experience with mic'ing techniques. You just gotta experiment until you get a sound you like.
@snapascrew Hey dude. rbasaria here. I had an e906 for a while, and I prefer the 57 over it, by leaps and bounds. If you want a cheap ass mic that sounds surprisingly great, look into the Nady kick drum mic. You can probably get one for 20 bucks off ebay...
I used the box at home too for a while and then switched over to engl, which was a revelation. The box is not bad, but the amp can do so much more which a good cap. I guess its kind of like driving a ferrari in a traffic jam.
I guess the with a mesa or an über-cap it really kills!
I was just letting you know that I had the matching cab that I ran it for band practices and gigs. And last night, at our gig, it slayed. I can't even begin to tell you how good it sounded...this vid doesn't even come close to how I have it dialed in now.
Awesome tone. Of course, it's an Uberschall! As far as cabs go, sure a 4X12 kicks ass. But, I recently purchased an Earcandy Cabs front ported 2X12 with Eminence Wizard speakers and HOLY SHIT! My 2X12 cab outperforms by a mile my rhythm guitarists 4X12 Randall XL cab loaded with Celestion Vintage30's. Not a big fan of the Vintage30's anyways. They're made in China. Not "real" Celestions in my book. Anyway, your sound is killer.
So herez your critique; Sound is right on! Deliciously sinister and dark. The break up with your 2x12 V30's is perfect with this amp for the tunage you are playing. Your playing was perfectly executed as far as I'm concerned.
I'm an older guy with a Bogner Ecstacy, and you had me banging my head with those riffs. You did a great job, but now my neck hurts...(lol). Good job demoing this amp. Pat yourself on the back. Not many guys can make a dry amp sound good - especially the Uberschall
I definitely hear it too. That is funny...lol. I haven't listened to that album in a LOOOONNNGGGG time so it's strange that I wrote that riff so close to COB's.
Well, it wasn't intentional, that's for sure. But hey, at least it's a good riff. Even though COB did it better.
The only amp I've ever heard to make me feel like I'm not man enough to play it, but then when I do play it, the amp just punches me in the chest with every chug...freaking...hell yeah....
Holy testical shitting rectal warts Batman! That thing kicks ass! I want one...NOW! That thing sounds metal as fuck. I have an older Mesa Dual Rectifier 2 channel and a Mesa Mark IV, neither one of them sounds that good. The Ubershall has a lot of gain but its the gain voiceing that intrestes me the most. It just sounds dark and mean as fuck. Yer playing kicks ass too! I wish I had the $4,000+ to get one. Keep metal alive man! Fuck yeah!
It definitely fits the bill for metal. Especially when loaded with the V30's. I used mine (I have since sold it) for metal.
Truth is, it's a very versatile cab with the open back feature. It's not oversized so it's not boomy at all. Plus, if you like the open back cabs for other types of music, you have that at your disposal.
Only downside to framus gear is that the tolex is not very durable. When I pulled my head off the cab after making this vid, there were 4 very distinct indentations.
Just so everyone knows, I have adjusted my settings now (changed them not too long after I posted this vid because I wasn't happy with the sound). Everything is based off a "noon" setting and tweaked to taste from there. The difference is night and day. I plan on posting another clip with my new cab sometime in the near future. Thanks for all the help and encouragement.

The presence acts as a high mid control more than a typical presence (high treble) control. I reccomend finding a good balance between the high mids of that control and the mid (low mid) control. Sounds like a great amp. I have an XTC and Fish myself.
